Title: The Dusk Mage's Stage Reimagining Project
Post by: Kienamaru on August 20, 2012, 02:44:55 AM
Welcome to my stage reimagining project! This is just a side project for me, but it is quite a large one considering the effort I'm going to put into it. What my goal is in this, is to create a texture for EVERY Melee level that looks suitable for Brawl and for most Brawl levels that I think could use a good texture. I won't be using completely similar textures and thus my stages won't be simple HD replicas of their Melee counterparts unless I feel it best suits it. My reimaginings will always involve some sort of creative twist or a completely different theme. Not only that, but nearly every Brawl level will use the Scene Data (day/night cycle) of Battlefield. I found that level interesting and would like other levels to have that awesome feature. I've not learned how to edit backgrounds yet so those will be saved for V2's. So without further stalling... here is my list of stages to reimagine.

Melee Stages

Green Greens-  Complete (http://i.imgur.com/xUbjas.jpg)
Onett- Complete, Trying to reduce file size
Jungle Japes-
Yoshi's Island- Complete (http://i.imgur.com/hkYeBs.jpg)
Temple- Complete, will be improved before any others. (http://i.imgur.com/cAaRSs.jpg)
Pokemon Stadium- ? For some reason doesn't show up...
Brinstar-
Big Blue-Planned
Corneria-
Rainbow Cruise-

Brawl Stages

Pirate Ship-
Bridge of Eldin- Complete (http://i.imgur.com/Fk7Dus.jpg)
Spear Pillar-
Port Town-
Skyworld-
Smashville-
Shadow Moses Island-

Will be updated as I make plans or progress. Pictures will be uploaded for criticism.

Any previews? This project is relevant to my interests...And I'm also mildly curios since I may try out my own stage hack soon.

Oh er, I'll get some up but they're only for the stages that are already out. I tested Onett today and it frozealoze so meh. My bridge is being fixed, for some reason the rain came down too hard. I might keep that as a version for people who like hurricane weather though.

That's the best i can do for previews, sorry.

Glad to hear. I've seen the ones released and I have to say, those are very nicely done. I could get some preview pics for you if you'd like.

That'd be nice. My pride and joy was just released. Though i can only take pride in the idea. Funny thing is that all of the textures aren't created by me. They're mostly just taken from other stages in Brawl. I don't even know how to texture, but i can replace them.

I love the idea of this project, but here's the thing- Although you used Brawl textures, they aren't exactly fit for the stages you're trying to revamp. Does Green Greens resemble anything from a Kirby game? Would Yoshi's Island really be that dark? Not really. These stages are cool on their own, but I wouldn't call them Brawl style. Ironically, using Brawl textures does not guarantee a Brawl style.

Keep it up, though. These stages still look cool. My favorite is probably the temple.

That's why I call them reimaginings. They're not supposed to resemble the previous versions or their respective games. I feel honored to be complimented by Pik. In case you were wondering what I plan on doing...

Port Town will be using Twilight textures to look very... space/VR like.
Onett is being made to resemble a Projects style area. Lots of brick.

That's why I mentioned the.. creative twist. Though I suppose I'll change th OP to not even mention Brawl styling.

About your Pokemon stadium problem, have you tried renaming the stage to STGDXPSTADIUM_en.PAC?
I was having the same problem with Onett before, and this was the solution.

I have tried using the en.pac version and it made no difference. It wasn't freezing, I just couldn't see my changes. I really like my Onett but I need to find a way to make it playable... I know at least that Onett is a file size issue.

I put them on my alt's vault. Gonna change the name back to Linketsu on there. It's currently The Dusk Mage.

What does everyone think of a Luigi's Mansion that once destroyed never repairs for the rest of the fight? But it's much harder to destroy? I think it sounds fun.
