Title: Brawl crashes?
Post by: BlazingPhoenix on July 06, 2010, 10:03:37 PM
When I use the files from this resource: http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=bf68243dc4c908b28d78a0e5552916095d6170349cac00195be6ba49b5870170
Brawl crashes, any ideas?
(Sorry about posting in tutorials, wrong tab XD)

Have you done anything to the files? Have you placed them in the correct directories? Did you use the Stack Smash method? Did you use the HBC loading method?

Are you playing with the latest File Replacement Code?

I'm using the latest file replacement code. I changed the stage preview images and I also tried replacing portraits in one of the files.  I did place them in the correct directories. I'm not sure what methods you're referring to.

When does the game freeze on you?

Usually when I either enter character select or stage select, depends on what I modify.

I'd avoid using common5.pac if I were you.  Fortunately, there are some files inside the menu2 folder that you can use instead.

Use sc_selcharacter.pac for character portraits, custom CSS, and CSS icons.

Use sc_selmap.pac for stage portraits.

Regarding your crashes, you most likely have a PAC file that uses more memory than normal.  If a PAC file is compressed or contains compressed contents, it must use less memory than normal if you expect it to work.

Yea, sc_selmap is very picky about file size. Goes over by one KB and it freezes still.
