ehh...i was bored and thought that vertex hacking looked fun.  So I will probably dl the stuff for it tomorrow.  If anyone has any tips(not guides, I'll look at the already posted ones)  that they would like to share, thanks.

My tip is be prepared for the mesh mess.

cant find a 3ds max8 trial dl...anyone have one?....

already did, shows everything but 3ds max 8...

Because 3ds max 8 is old... I have to use 2010 hence why I have to deal with the mesh mess.

ugh... Maybe m64 has the dl...even though it's old...
-does that one work just as good for vertexing and/or using m64's guide?

There should be a DL for the trial in mariokart64n tutorial thread. Also the newer versions of 3DS Max aren't compatible with his new vertex editing method.

i clicked on all 6? of them... there just stuff that you use with 3ds i think.. ill check again...  which script do i dl? : tim scripts/hyper/onion....0.o probably does matter....


edit: i dl everything besides the script... he doesn't give a dl for 3ds max....

If you plan on using the new method then your going to need all the DLs on mariokart64ns thread.

so if i dl max 2010, theres no need to dl anything from m64's guide....so basically i just need to watch the tut. on using dasdonkey and anim8er then im good to vertex hack....without awesome methods  :'(

I would recommend watching mariokarts tutorials and his original tutorial found on the bottom of his thread, I believe. It'd familiarize yourself with 3DS Max and tools that you could apply to the old method.

I would also recommend using his script as it removes having to use DDV Box or Anim8or. Basically read everything in his thread. <_<

omg... I just wasted my time dl some random junk that I don't even think includes 3ds max....goodbye 3 hrs of my life...cry..sob....trip......o look a dl by m64!

can anyone help? or does that mean i have failed again...


edit: im just going to use 3ds max 2011... looks like no methods or scripts for me...i did watch the first 4-5 vids on m64's thread though...what a waste of time(no offense to m64...im just pissed now)


edit: wooo... max 2011 doesnt have a collada yay... i give up...no vertex hacking for me =(

weird, usually a 64bit system can run 32bit programs.. its only if its the other way around.. a 32bit system trying to run 64bit software.. which isn't the case..

also a few people are actually using max2011 and 2010.. they claim to be using ColladaOpen i think. I only have max8 so can only vouch for that.

experiment with a few plugins, and see if you cant get any geometry imported from the DAE.

thats one oversight in my tutorial. all the programs I use are for a 32bit Operating system.. in this age 32bit systems are phasing out, and everyones switching over to 64bit.

omg thats only for max 8, 9, 2009-2010....of course not 2011...how many times can one person fail in one day....

edit: im just going to uninstall fail max2011 and install max 9 or 10 so i can actually vertex hack with the mesh and use guides...
