gimp is being a [censored] and not saving my images that i save as transparent
help please?

it has to be a PNG and not a JPEG?

JPEG images don't support transparency, so avoid saving texture parts as that image format.  Save texture parts as either PNG images or TarGA images.  The two image formats also support indexed colors, but only the PNG format allows indexed colors AND transparency (no semi-transparency though).

Avoid GIF as well, since that format only accepts up to 256 colors, and the image quality of GIF images tend to be much lower than that of images in the PNG format.
