Title: BrawlVault Homebrew App Post by: StealthyAqua on August 03, 2010, 05:32:51 PM So. My idea... create a Brawl Vault Homebrew app where users can browse for and download new textures (From Brawl Vault) to their SD cards directly from their Wii! Other options would be to delete existing textures/movesets and such, and view which costume each texture will be replacing.
Anybody else think this is a good idea? Title: Re: BrawlVault Homebrew App Post by: Shiranui on August 03, 2010, 05:34:56 PM This is a wondeful idea. It would save so uch time between the computer and wii.
Title: Re: BrawlVault Homebrew App Post by: Stay Frosty on August 03, 2010, 05:39:23 PM I thought about that idea too, It may be difficult due to varying file sharing sites, wether if it's packed or an individual file.
I would totally download if someone made that though. Title: Re: BrawlVault Homebrew App Post by: Crashouti on August 03, 2010, 07:37:55 PM very cool I approuve
Title: Re: BrawlVault Homebrew App Post by: Beyond on August 03, 2010, 07:40:14 PM <_<
This could work if all the hacks were hosted on the same site. But they're not. Title: Re: BrawlVault Homebrew App Post by: NecroMasterX on August 03, 2010, 07:50:49 PM I think they sould change BV to make it so that you upload the files directly to the site.
Title: Re: BrawlVault Homebrew App Post by: Ӄit ßallarɖ on August 03, 2010, 09:34:49 PM Pulling the BV file data and loading em to a dedicated host would be easy. Just gotta find a host everyone agrees on
Title: Re: BrawlVault Homebrew App Post by: ピカノ on August 03, 2010, 10:37:05 PM And you know...
back converting 9000+ hacks by... standardizing naming and compression conventions... re-uploading to a single site... and ya need someone to code the actual app. It's not gonna happen --- its far too late in the game to do something like this unless someone is willing to do what I said up above. Title: Re: BrawlVault Homebrew App Post by: Ӄit ßallarɖ on August 03, 2010, 11:45:31 PM ooo on top of the files having to be auto (re)named to Fit(char)(##) and all that junk.. also needs a safety script that provents accedental model replacement of chars you want to keep..

Two words: SD-Explorer.You can use that to rename files... Title: Re: BrawlVault Homebrew App Post by: mnsg on August 04, 2010, 05:52:45 AM Not worth the trouble, like picano said. Besides, a lot of downloads are inside .zip files and/or .rar files, which require a computer and the proper programs to read.
Title: Re: BrawlVault Homebrew App Post by: StealthyAqua on August 04, 2010, 07:21:38 AM I may be wrong, but it seems like the Wii is constantly downloading and extracting files... like new apps and updates from the Homebrew Browser?
Title: Re: BrawlVault Homebrew App Post by: Crashouti on August 04, 2010, 07:51:50 AM yes

Your post is BTW-------- I want this app was create Title: Re: BrawlVault Homebrew App Post by: ピカノ on August 04, 2010, 12:01:42 PM I want this app was create But its impossible without completely revamping the Vault's 9k hacks. The homebrewbrowser doesn't have to with nearly as many apps, updating is handled manually, and has a distinct format (required xml, png, and boot.dol/elf) Now, if someone were to modify Opera to be able to download (and add an extracting utlity, likely borrowed from HBB)... that would work. But that is still highly unlikely. SDExplorer is extremely dated. WiiXplorer is WAY better. Just sayin'. Title: Re: BrawlVault Homebrew App Post by: Segtendo on August 04, 2010, 01:54:25 PM <_< FTW.SDExplorer is extremely dated. WiiXplorer is WAY better. Just sayin'. Title: Re: BrawlVault Homebrew App Post by: user1561 on August 05, 2010, 07:19:23 PM I can stress enough that this a very Hi-Tech idea
Title: Re: BrawlVault Homebrew App Post by: Pik on August 06, 2010, 04:56:54 AM Well, I don't think people need to care about getting every single hack in BV compatible with this thing, just have a 'from now on' type option going.
Of course, that's probably not the only problem with this. But it's way better than trying to get every single brawlvault page connected. Title: Re: BrawlVault Homebrew App Post by: Shiranui on August 06, 2010, 08:56:06 AM <_< Same thing, really. Sure WiiXplorer is better ( I know, I use it), but SDExplorer came first.SDExplorer is extremely dated. WiiXplorer is WAY better. Just sayin'. But anyways, yeah ths could work, and we don't have to compile all the hacks in. Heck, Netflix has of yet to uplaod half the movies onto the wii streamign, but no ones complained. Title: Re: BrawlVault Homebrew App Post by: ??_? on August 09, 2010, 11:46:26 AM And you know... Me and Jack had a similar idea awhile back, but it was kc:mm Blog hbc app. It shows the few latest stuff on the blog, a few pics, and a download that saved in the correct spot on your SD card.back converting 9000+ hacks by... standardizing naming and compression conventions... re-uploading to a single site... and ya need someone to code the actual app. It's not gonna happen --- its far too late in the game to do something like this unless someone is willing to do what I said up above. much simpler, but admittedly far beyond me Title: Re: BrawlVault Homebrew App Post by: Phear-Walker on August 11, 2010, 02:08:04 AM It would be cool, but no
Title: Re: BrawlVault Homebrew App Post by: ΔMΆTΣRASU on August 28, 2010, 11:34:18 PM i sooo approve :D this deserves alot of attention :srs:
I vote Mediafire as the share site so we dont hav to wait 45 seconds Title: Re: BrawlVault Homebrew App Post by: Vyse on August 29, 2010, 03:00:59 AM Then you should probably get to work doing what picano mentioned above.
Title: Re: BrawlVault Homebrew App Post by: Raqib on August 31, 2010, 04:47:43 PM What if KC-MM were to upgrade its memory and bandwidth? How much would that cost? If there was a donation pool, I'd donate.
Maybe that way, we can look to avoid having duplicate posts for updated mods. Title: Re: BrawlVault Homebrew App Post by: ピカノ on September 01, 2010, 06:09:11 PM Maybe, if someone would get a prototype app working, I'd set up something Vault side to assist.
But, many of my reasons against it would still stand. -No retroactively support unless updated manually. (Either by staff or original user) -File Packaging / Placement (Either needs to be standardized before upload, require intelligent recognition app-side, or require built in file management) -Download source ---Dantarion hosts us, you'd have to ask him about prices for storage/bandwidth. Even if Dantarion would host everything (which, he would have with BrawlTex...), I wouldn't want it. No offense to Dantarion, but I'd rather not risk having all the hacks hosted by him; if kc-mm went down for whatever reason, all the hacks would be gone. With the current system, if kc-mm falls, I simply upload my SQL file (~10MB zip) elsewhere. Same goes for any other dedicated hosting. -As for other sites (mediafire), whoever codes the app would essentially need to make a mini-web-browser. Title: Re: BrawlVault Homebrew App Post by: FairKnight on September 01, 2010, 09:19:46 PM Thing is, people make cool ideas but don't think about how much work needs to go into them. Yes this is a good idea but.
It's a hopeless fantasy right now. Not entirely hopeless it may be possible but right now its a 70% to 30% chance that this will happen. Successfully anyway Title: Re: BrawlVault Homebrew App Post by: JOEYSX5 on September 06, 2010, 12:15:59 PM (http://www.halolz.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/halolz-dot-com-supersmashbrosbrawl-captainfalconapproved.jpg)
Even Falcon approves of this wonderful idea. I don't know but this definetely needs to be done. Title: Re: BrawlVault Homebrew App Post by: ピカノ on September 07, 2010, 08:16:11 AM And still, no takers on a programmer. >.>;;
Title: Re: BrawlVault Homebrew App Post by: Vyse on September 07, 2010, 01:19:38 PM Of course. It's much easier to say something needs doing and let others handle the messy details. That way, you look like you're contributing without actually doing a thing.
Title: Re: BrawlVault Homebrew App Post by: Dragzilla66 on April 03, 2011, 12:38:34 AM I can do this for you guys! Lolz jks.. I don't know crap except making loop music for myself and getting all sorts of hacks. I love this idea except getting small amounts of these hacks into the app because most of them are old, they don't support media fire, there to big to fit in the app, and they can't be rar'ed or exracted. Well anyways like I said Iike but it's not gonna happen.
