Title: Replacing smashbros_sound.brsar? Post by: Dean on August 03, 2010, 08:47:05 PM Sorry, I'm gonna have to be a noob for a second... (That is, assuming I'm not one already).
I've downloaded the Japanese smashbros_sound.brsar file in hopes of replacing the English voice actors with the Japanese ones. I figured it'd work like textures... Like, throwing it into pf/fighter/captain/ etc... on my SD card--for example. I'm... Not sure where to put this file. XD... Any help? (Got the file from here, by the way: http://www.mediafire.com/?mm53ukxzdjz ) EDIT: Whoops, forgot to mention (if it makes a difference) I'm using Balanced Brawl on my SD card. Title: Re: Replacing smashbros_sound.brsar? Post by: Micaiah on August 03, 2010, 08:52:23 PM I think it doesn't make difference if it is Balanced brawl :)
Anyway the file goes in root/ssbb/Sound <--- here in the sound folder ^_^ Title: Re: Replacing smashbros_sound.brsar? Post by: Dean on August 03, 2010, 08:57:25 PM Sorry to be excessively noob, but... I just want to make sure this is the correct directory (I don't have any folders called "ssbb")
root\private\wii\app\RSBE\pf\Sound ? (I knooow it looks right, but I just want to make sure... It'd my CDO... It's like OCD, but in alphabetical order......... As it -should- be). Title: Re: Replacing smashbros_sound.brsar? Post by: Dean on August 03, 2010, 09:06:40 PM Er. I did not know that... >.<
I have no idea what a Riivolution is. I guess I've got some googling to do... Unless you'd be so kind as to explain to me what all this mumbo-jumbo is about Riivolution and Geckos and whatnot. :3 EDIT: Ahh. No worries. I think I'm gonna bail on this endeavour. A lot of the stuff I read mentioned running Riivolution from the Homebrew channel... Which I don't have. I know it sounds lazy, but I think I'll forego the hassle and go about my merry way. Thank you very much anyway, though. ^^ Title: Re: Replacing smashbros_sound.brsar? Post by: Micaiah on August 03, 2010, 09:13:43 PM http://forums.kc-mm.com/index.php?topic=11743.0

Thank you very much anyway, though. ^^ Gecko OS is what you've been using to load all of your Brawl hacks from the SD card hencetoforthwith (up until now). It uses ocarina codes to patch files in the game, etc. etc... it makes the mods work. Riivolution is essentially the same sort of program, but is supposedly more versatile and consumes less SD space. HOWEVER, I have yet to get Riivolution to work as well as Gecko OS, because Riivolution takes a lot more user input, as in, you basically have to write the code (XML) for it yourself, although there's a lot of copypasta Riivolution code floating around that works just fine. My advice is to just stick with the setup you've got and wait for the non-noobs to figure out a more user-friendly way to get sound hacks in the game, because I've been trying for weeks now, and I'm at least a "scrub" by now, and I still can't get sound hacks to work at all. That's MY advice. However, there are obviously some people on these boards who have gotten the damn thing to work, it's just chances are they're a fair bit more versed in programming than either of us... EDIT: Whoa there hold the phone! How have you been hacking Brawl at all without the Homebrew Channel? Honest to god though, I don't actually know how to do it without Homebrew, you probably just want to get that if you're interested in mods at all... http://hbc.hackmii.com/ (http://hbc.hackmii.com/) Title: Re: Replacing smashbros_sound.brsar? http://hbc.hackmii.com/ (http://hbc.hackmii.com/) Um. Balanced Brawl runs dynamically from the SD card and boots up as soon as I enter the Stage Builder in standard Brawl... Something like that. This will probably explain more: http://balancedbrawl.net/downloads-instructions/ I just got into all this Brawl mod stuff last week, and just started texturing a few days ago... So... That's my excuse for being a noob. Hahaha... :D Title: Re: Replacing smashbros_sound.brsar? Post by: DarkPikachu on August 03, 2010, 11:02:18 PM I use the smashbros_sound.brsar with gecko, and it works...
half the chars had no SFX without it... |
