Title: Music-Hack Help.
Post by: BlizzardWolfang on October 05, 2010, 06:44:36 PM
Hi, I'm some-what new to hacking and I've done my own music hacks for brawl.
Usually when I play the game with the loaded hacks the game will play normally. After awhile when I'd select a stage or what-not the game would freeze and go ERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

Is there anyway to use Music hacks without making the game freeze along with the irritating ERRRR noise?
It only does this when I use music hacks and nothing else.

Is there a solution to this like a code? Or do I input something wrong? I really want to use music hacks along with textures so that I could enjoy brawl with the music I'd think would fit well with some of the stages.

Thanks if you can help.

What version and method of loading hacks do you use? Pal doesn't have the FilePatch-Code 3.5 and should use Riivolution if they want to use custom music.

I'm pretty sure I have the NTSC or w/e USA copy of brawl. The method I use is the coding provided on the smashboards website. I'm not sure what exactly is on in Brawl (hackwise) besidess having an altered character select screen, textures, endless replay saves with the names, defaulted 3-stock 8 minutes etc, Music, and so forth. I can post the copy of the RSBE01 code file that I have if that helps any.

just download code manager for your pc and copy and paste the codes you want into a text file and open the text file with your code maneger and click on the codes you want to use and then click on export to gct. select your sd card and done...

or you can download a text file

and also, don't use to much codes, that freezes the game. and you might have corrupt files on your sd card or something. or, maybe your brstm's a wrong-made...

You can use as many codes as you want with something called gameconfig.txt
I do have it, also, and it works.

Tell us. are you using Riivolution or Gecko?

If the game freezes when you select the stage, then it means something is wrong with either the stage itself, or the music, or the characters. Try changing characters to unedited/simple ones and see if it changes anything.

Give us a little more details :
- What if you tried changing which stage the music plays on ? Does the previous stage freeze or not ?
- Have you ever encountered musics overlapping with each other or speeding up/down weirdly ?
- Finally, if you suspect a music hack from not working ... have you even managed to hear it (at least partially) ? Even in My Music, etc... ?

Soul Zero might be right and I do have the gameconfig txt (outside of my main folders) on my SD card. Dunno if that's the case or not.
(I doubt it's my BRSTMs since I did use the guide listed here about it. I used goldwave and followed that numbered rule thing to loop music.)
My highest MB'd song would be over 12MB. I'm unsure if space is a factor to the freezing.

@ Miacis Kusanagi: I'll try checking characters to see if it might be the characters. My Wii only freezes with the ERRRRR whenever I apply music hacks into the game. I doubt it's the stages and it might be the characters. I'll try playing on the music hack levels with a simple character like Kirby and Mario. I'll then attempt to play it with one's like Charizard, Samus, Zelda, or Boozer.

-I haven't tried swapping music from one stage to the other yet. I might try it though to see if that's the case.
- The music does NOT speed or overlap in anyway. It plays at a nornal rate as it should.
- I've tried playing the title screen music for a minute and it plays. I'm currently on My Music listening to the songs that have BRSTMs. I can click on them and listen to them for lengthy periods with no freezing.

+Update: Played brawls 3 times on Battlefield, Final, and Yoshi's Island with Mario and Manondorf. (Each have texturesand the stages have textures and it hasn't crashed yet. But when I go back to the character select screen and I selected a character and quickly went through the colors it randomly went ERRRRR on one of them)
Perhaps it's the texture for the character? Does the game read the texture before the game even starts via selection screen?

- Update 4:09PM Pacific Time: During the character selection load I've noticed my "Fox", "Kirby" and "Toon Link" selections would make the game freeze after scrolling / selecting these characters. I've found out what it what and it was apparently the Fit/Motion files along with a few Textures that were buggy. After 30 minutes of playing every stage went well except when I picked Pokeman trainer and switched out Charizard for Squirtle in mid battle. That's when the ERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR struck.

YES. Ceck that you haven't mistaken a PAC for a PCS or vice-versa, or made an error in naming this character.

Then it's a problem with Squirtle, simply.
Make sure you have both a PAC and a PCS for each Pokemon texture/vertex.

I've checked if I made any errors in naming the character and they're all named correctly.
characters that SHOULD have pcs and pacs have them. (Samus / PKMN Trainer etc.)

It's just at times it would still freeze and go ERRRRRRRRRRRRR.
Maybe I should get rid of some textures or something? { shrugs. }
