Title: ItmCommonParam Swapping? Post by: ForOhFor Error on October 17, 2010, 03:04:09 PM Has anyone tried to swap the ItmCommonParam data of 2 items? Is it possible to, say, replace a useless item (Erm..... maybe Mr. Saturn) with, say, another gun by changing the ItmCommonParam data and the model?
Just speculation, but it would be cool to replace some items. Progress so far: Swapping the data seems to only partially work. Part of the item's normal function stays. For example, swapping the data of Mr. Saturn with that of a ray gun makes the item stay stationary, but it can't shoot, and acts as a throwing item... Title: Re: ItmCommonParam Swapping? Post by: Eternal Yoshi on October 17, 2010, 03:15:27 PM Not the best idea due to how strict the file size limit of common3.
It MIGHT be possible, though only if the item being replaced is the same size or larger than the item you want to insert. Title: Re: ItmCommonParam Swapping? Post by: ForOhFor Error on October 17, 2010, 03:28:22 PM Just how strict is the file size?
Title: Re: ItmCommonParam Swapping? Post by: Eternal Yoshi on October 17, 2010, 04:08:27 PM Very. Put it over the original file size and the game will greet you with a
BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP of death. It's a bit less strict when using Riivolution IIRC. Title: Re: ItmCommonParam Swapping? Post by: ForOhFor Error on October 17, 2010, 04:11:10 PM What if it's under the original size? Will it still death-beep?
Also, I thought that it just froze the game at the strap loader. Title: Re: ItmCommonParam Swapping? Post by: Chuy on October 17, 2010, 04:40:20 PM What if it's under the original size? Will it still death-beep? Shouldn't beep but don't be surprised if it doesAlso, I thought that it just froze the game at the strap loader. Title: Re: ItmCommonParam Swapping? Post by: ??_? on October 17, 2010, 07:36:21 PM yeah, even if its the same or under the original filesize it can still crash, but new items would be worth a try.
Title: Re: ItmCommonParam Swapping? Post by: ForOhFor Error on October 18, 2010, 04:18:33 AM I made the modifications to the file, I'll test it as soon as I get home from school.
I expect it to crash XD Title: Re: ItmCommonParam Swapping? Post by: ForOhFor Error on October 18, 2010, 01:45:38 PM Curious results. I swapped the data of Mr. Saturn with the ray gun's. The game did not crash, and the item made the sound of the raygun when hitting the ground. It didn't walk. But, when I tried to shoot with it, I threw it and it acted like Mr. Saturn, until it hit the ground, where it made the ray gun hitting the ground noise.
Title: Re: ItmCommonParam Swapping? Post by: BlueBrain on October 20, 2010, 09:09:19 AM lol? maybe there is more than just the common3 data...
Title: Re: ItmCommonParam Swapping? Post by: ForOhFor Error on October 20, 2010, 01:05:30 PM Well, it could be the single itmParam Miscdata, but I have another theory, though it's probably not correct:
the brres data is divided with Type7[30] data. Maybe it's only possible within those bounds? Probably not, but it's a possibility. Title: Re: ItmCommonParam Swapping? Post by: BlueBrain on October 20, 2010, 03:33:13 PM well there's only one way to find out...
(dont ask me how that is cuz i have no idea...xD) Title: Re: ItmCommonParam Swapping? Post by: JOEYSX5 on October 21, 2010, 09:06:12 PM I'm not going to lie here, I had no idea what ItmCommonParam meant.. I thought it was some useless stuff and I did come across the idea is held the attributes of an item.
This means somone could make Snake's SOCOM pistol over Mr. Saturn! Title: Re: ItmCommonParam Swapping? Post by: ForOhFor Error on October 23, 2010, 09:12:11 AM XD Possibly, though the swapping seems to only partially work.
Title: Re: ItmCommonParam Swapping? Post by: toastoftriumph on October 23, 2010, 10:08:27 AM heck, even partially swapping could still turn out awesome.
*explosion sound whenever Mr. Saturn is thrown* lol. But anyways, good work on this so far; I hope this can be figured out further. It'd sure be awesome to be able to create new items (and/or "clones"). Title: Re: ItmCommonParam Swapping? Post by: BlueBrain on October 23, 2010, 10:50:45 AM i just checked common3 out in brawlbox, and there was another param thing, which only contained one file that isnt readable by brawlbox, probably ull need something from that to make it work...
Title: Re: ItmCommonParam Swapping? Post by: ForOhFor Error on October 23, 2010, 04:48:45 PM Yeah, though I have no idea how to hex edit, so XD
Title: Re: ItmCommonParam Swapping? Post by: JOEYSX5 on October 24, 2010, 12:03:39 AM I'm trying to figure out how to edit Item size and where the info is held. I want to make Snake's grenades (Since they are so oversized) the size of the Deku Nut.
Strangely enough, when I model swapped the Deku Nut with Snake's grenades, the grenade became the Deku Nut size. Check it out on my vault. Title: Re: ItmCommonParam Swapping? Post by: Eternal Yoshi on October 24, 2010, 07:53:01 AM ItmXXParam.pac can be opened in OpenSA2.
There you can open it in opensa, get the dumps of the actions and subactions, and hex edit them. You'll see an example in the next release of GSS, where the Grenades' explosions are twice as big and has extra range, and the CBox has a very "special" property. I also gave Link stronger Aura bombs too. Title: Re: ItmCommonParam Swapping? Post by: BlueBrain on October 24, 2010, 09:03:13 AM who is GSS?
Title: Re: ItmCommonParam Swapping? Post by: Eternal Yoshi on October 24, 2010, 09:07:20 AM Guard Slayer Snake....
My broken moveset which will include param files to put in common3.pac via Brawlbox. ItmParam.pac is empty, almost as if it's a template for something.... You need OpenSA2 to edit these item files. Title: Re: ItmCommonParam Swapping? Post by: Chuy on October 24, 2010, 04:01:52 PM XD Possibly, though the swapping seems to only partially work. Can confirm this i got bored already can did some swapping of various items all of them had both the original effects and swapped item's effects which was kinda cool Title: Re: ItmCommonParam Swapping? Post by: BlueBrain on October 24, 2010, 04:03:59 PM this makes ppl think there are more values than just the param-stuff
Title: Re: ItmCommonParam Swapping? Post by: awesomedude on October 26, 2010, 04:44:28 AM It's so funny !
I swapped the freezer and the green shell it's not glitchy at all ^^ Next step : Itmparam hex-editing Title: Re: ItmCommonParam Swapping? Post by: BlueBrain on October 26, 2010, 01:14:56 PM It's so funny ! I swapped the freezer and the green shell it's not glitchy at all ^^ Next step : Itmparam hex-editing what does that mean? that green shell doesnt glide anymore and it freezes, that freezer glides and doesnt freeze, or a partial function swap? Title: Re: ItmCommonParam Swapping? Post by: awesomedude on October 27, 2010, 02:18:39 AM The green shell behave exactly like the freezer but rotate by it's own animation
Title: Re: ItmCommonParam Swapping? Post by: BlueBrain on October 27, 2010, 02:28:08 AM cool. so the freezer could be cloned...
maybe u could try more swapping and eventually make a list of clonable items, and im pretty sure the reason for the ray gun not to work is that its not only his model it also summons the laser... so, maybe the star rod could be replaced for a ray-gun, as its another shooter... Title: Re: ItmCommonParam Swapping? Post by: awesomedude on October 28, 2010, 04:56:24 AM When swapping the items (I didn't swapped the shot) :
http://yfrog.com/jt25636688j It could be a new item over another :p Edit: Swapped both shot and item : http://yfrog.com/4w63671430j Title: Re: ItmCommonParam Swapping? Post by: Naruto200Man on October 28, 2010, 07:18:12 AM Imagine making the fire cracker launcher shoot out trophies or pokeballs or [censored] xD there are codes that do that but lmao imagine the possiblilities if it were flawlessly doable with just brawlbox and psa X3
Deku nuts that explode into smash balls Mr Saturns that explode like a subspace bomb when hit Star rods that attack like the beam sword AND shoot out the rod shot xD Title: Re: ItmCommonParam Swapping? Post by: BlueBrain on October 28, 2010, 11:31:22 AM or the superscope shooting crackers... or smart bombs(that last one has been done in codes)
Title: Re: ItmCommonParam Swapping? Post by: toastoftriumph on October 28, 2010, 06:12:07 PM It'd be sweet if you could have a cracker launcher that shoots superscope bullets or lasers if it still would work when at an angle. Kinda like a cracker launcher that shoots ammo in straight paths instead. It'd be a whole new item.
Title: Re: ItmCommonParam Swapping? Post by: Naruto200Man on October 28, 2010, 06:17:13 PM Isn't there also a code that can make the star rod shoot smash balls when you smash swing it?
Title: Re: ItmCommonParam Swapping? Post by: ForOhFor Error on November 02, 2010, 08:45:01 AM Still, it would be cool to do it without codes.
Title: Re: ItmCommonParam Swapping? Post by: JOEYSX5 on November 08, 2010, 04:44:31 PM Anyone know how to edit Item Size without vertexing, anyone? I need to make Snake's grenades the size of the Deku Nut so they look more realistic and not so oversized.
Title: Re: ItmCommonParam Swapping? Post by: ForOhFor Error on November 08, 2010, 06:29:54 PM You can't even vertex items, I'm afraid. *Sigh*
Title: Re: ItmCommonParam Swapping? Post by: BlueBrain on November 09, 2010, 07:14:06 AM if the model responds to an animation u could try to modify its scale in the animation...
Title: Re: ItmCommonParam Swapping? Post by: ForOhFor Error on November 09, 2010, 01:18:27 PM Or use the Model resizer thing.... that may work.
Title: Re: ItmCommonParam Swapping? Post by: JOEYSX5 on November 09, 2010, 03:01:50 PM You can't even vertex items, I'm afraid. *Sigh* My computer crashes everytime I try to open DasDonkey's Vertex Box, yeah, it's sad. Or use the Model resizer thing.... that may work. Ok, I'll try that. |
