Title: Luigi Texture Problems...
Post by: Pinutk™ on October 26, 2010, 07:41:42 PM
Can someone PLEASE help me..so I go to replace these textures in BrawlBox right. Well everything is just dandy. I replace the textures, one of them went transparent, so I switched the texture format. Its all good after that. Well that texture was fine in-game but his body wasn't!? When the camera is zoomed out his body textures are black, but when I zoom in they are as they should be!? WTF kinda problem is this!? I'm talking about his Salo texture or whatever too. The file comes out to 297KB after I replace everything too...
Can someone PLEASE help, it makes no sense what so ever... :oshi:

Did you try downloading a different pcs file for luigi and replacing the textures in it?

Don't change the texture formats that the textures use.  Problems like that can occur whenever you do that.

I KNEW you could be able to help me! :)
Well only thing is I change them so the files don't end up transparent. I changed the file type of his kage file because it was transparent when I first replaced it. Whatever that has to do with all his body stuff I have yet too find out...

I've had this issue many times in the past as well.

Try downloading a new FitLuigi00.pac (ALWAYS START WITH .PACS). Then just replace the textures and you should be fine.

Here's a full list of textures that Luigi has, and the texture formats that they use.  Make sure that you follow them to the letter.

FitLuigiEyeDmg - 256x256 pixels - CMPR texture
FitLuigiEyeIris - 128x256 pixels - RGBA8 texture
FitLuigiEyeIrisYellow - 128x256 pixels - CMPR texture
FitLuigiEyeLower - 64x64 pixels - RGB5A3 texture
FitLuigiEyeUpper - 64x128 pixels - CMPR texture
FitLuigiEyeWhite - 256x256 pixels - RGBA8 texture
FitLuigiKage - 64x32 pixels - RGBA8 texture
FitLuigi_body - 512x512 pizels - CMPR texture
FitLuigi_salo - 512x512 pixels - CMPR texture

On a side note, the kage texture is basically for Luigi's forehead.  It uses transparency for some sort of reason.

I've had this same type of problem before back in the days when we used ASH....  It happened to sonic's eyes and it really pissed me off because back then we couldn't do anything about it.  It should fix it when you set the textures to their correct formats.

@404
Yes it is his hat shadow.

@Mininova
Well this IS a revamp of an old texture I made when we hacked with ASH. I WILL download that again IF I REALLY have to to get this to work, it kinda seems like it...
And BrawlBox(SmashBox wen it first came out) fixes Sonic's Eye problems. Adn setting the textures to the original format didn't help me :(
