 i downloaded a stage for luigis mansion and tested it out, and it worked fine. i go and change a few textures here and there and now it crashed before the crawl even starts! and no its not being compressed. what do i do! this is my first stage texture hack

Did you change the texture format of any of the textures?

format? i dont even know what thatmeans.its my first stage hack, but ive done LOTS of character texture hacks

Did you change anything about the stage?  and did you add any character textures or anything?

idk what you mean by character textures, but all i did was export textures, change a bit, then replace. just like texturehacking with a char

What I meant was have you added any other hacks to your brawl since the stage crashed it or is luigi's mansion the only thing youve added.  Try starting over with a fresh file...  sometimes it happens that way.

there are other stage hacks that were there befor, but i didnt make them myself. and i havent added anything since i dont think. . . ill try that when i get the chance

how do i uncompress the archives? and idk how to even change thr format of  texture hacks

He means when you replace the texture in brawlbox, don't change what format it's in.  Just click replace.

 i tried redownloading it, but it still crashing

hmm...try and make a backup of ALL of the brawl hacks on your sd car, then delete them all of the sd, and put only the stage in. with no other hacks. if it stops freexing after that, then gradually put in a few of the hacks back into your card at a time, and testing it out every cople of files you put on the sd card.

I had to do this once, and it worked for me.

yea, long, drawn out process for such a simple problem. If it works, itll be well worth your time though.

The only way I can see texture replacements freezing the game is if you changed any of the formats.

i checked the format of the one i downloaded,that before i changed worked on our Wii, and the format was something like CMPTR or something like that. i made sure it STAYED that way the second time i did it

Oh okay. Not sure what else would cause it to crash.

OK, listen, do the method i posted earlier and everything woll work out fine. Not tht difficult just annoying proceedure. thats the only way to do it guys.
