Title: Texture changing according to lighting/camera
Post by: Miacis on December 20, 2010, 12:38:11 PM
Hello there. I've got this one annoying problem I've already seen a little everywhere :

I've vertexed and re-textured Marth's body, but the textures appears different (unsaturated) when Marth isn't perfectly immobile, or when the camera is moving in the pause screen. I have to pause and not touch anything for it to look normal.

I've tried a bit of everything, but can't find what's wrong. The material properties and texture properties are exactly the same as the unedited Marth.
So where should I look into ?  :-\

Uh... how about providing us some pictures of the problem? That'd make it easier to figure out what's actually wrong.

I'll have a lot of trouble doing that, since the problem disappears as soon as I take the picture. >.>;

Basically, my texture on Marth's body looks greyish all the time. If I pause the game and don't touch anything (or take a snapshot), it looks normal.

Hm... Does it export right? Is this a mipmap problem?

Well, first off, does the texture change around as you move the camera?

If so, that maybe your problem, mip maps are annoying, I had this issue with Neco Arc Chaos (who's on Toon Link), his mip maps were messed up... Not sure how to really fix this, but what I did was use an older version of BrawlBox...

In case you don't have that version...

See what happens when you use it.

Yup.

I'll have a look at it, then. Thanks. :3

EDIT : I've just retried. No changes. :(

Marth may have some unknown overlay that makes it go greyish... :-\

Have you done any UV editing on him at all?

That's odd... I used that for Neco Arc Chaos and it worked... But it does sound like some kinda mip map issue... But then again, it may not be...

Uh ... I'm starting to get very very worried now. I see this on every possible model. o_O
Even on Regular un-modded Brawl. o_O

Maybe it's just my TV ? I need to be sure ...
Could someone go on regular unmodded FD, pause right at the beginning, and tell me if he notices a weird change in lighting between "moving pause camera" and "immobile pause camera" ?
Blue textures turning to a grey maroonish in the background ?
