Title: Changing the Brawl Title ID Post by: Dragord on December 23, 2010, 08:51:48 PM Is it possible to change the brawl title id?
I would like to have a hacked brawl iso with a different ID that uses the regular save, but if it can't use the save, that's okay. If this is impossible, is it possible to put to games with the same ID on the same Hard-Drive? Title: Re: Changing the Brawl Title ID Post by: mnsg on December 23, 2010, 10:07:48 PM You're actually in luck. I was recently doing some custom ISO tests with Mario Kart Wii and NSMB Wii, and I've been able to run them, along with their original ISOs, in the same USB device.
The key to doing that involves using the Wii Backup Manager to change the game IDs. Along the way, it never hurts to enable the Error 002 Fix, along with setting the IOS that the custom ISO would use; preferably, IOS249. If it helps, I did all of this with WiiFlow (http://www.wiiflowiki.com/). I guess I'll try this since I have no other options, but I don't think it will work. All I can do is hope it will :(

Just make sure that none of the IOSes that WiiFlow uses are stubbed. Wii), but I never did attempt to change the game ID on a dual-layered ISO, like Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
On a side note, when you convert a Brawl ISO to a WBFS file, you'll get two files; one ends with .wbfs; the other ends with .wbf1. This is done so that you can place the ISO onto a FAT or FAT32 file system drive; FAT and FAT32 file systems have a 4 GB limit on files, which is something that the NTFS file system bypasses. Have you tried converting your Brawl ISO into a .iso file? Title: Re: Changing the Brawl Title ID Post by: Dragord on December 26, 2010, 02:19:02 PM I've actually been using an iso file the entire time.
Title: Re: Changing the Brawl Title ID Post by: mnsg on December 26, 2010, 03:56:22 PM Oh. Well, again, I haven't attempted to change game IDs for the dual-layered ISO titles yet.
Edit: I did some investigating, and found out that the current version of Wii Backup Manager has some sort of bug, which involves any dual-layered ISO. Title: Re: Changing the Brawl Title ID Post by: Dragord on December 26, 2010, 08:02:32 PM It's not wii backup manager's fault. Everything I tried doesn't work. I even used WiiScrubber to take out the partition.bin and the boot.dol (maybe it was boot.bin, I forgot) and used a hex editor to change stuff- still got the same result: Please insert the SSBB Disc. Roar.

On a side note, changing the game ID will NOT affect the save data; the custom ISO would still use the same game data as the original. Sadly, it did not work with a different ID. When I used WiiScrubber to change the ID the hard way, it did not work until I changed it back to RSBE01. I never really knew a lot about IDs until I looked up the complicated way of changing them, and I know now that changing the ID will not change the save unless you change the boot.bin(or whatever it is). I actually want it to not use a different save though, so that's okay with me. :D I just want it to be on my hard-drive the same time a different brawl is. (And I also maybe might be releasing this maybe with different versions for brawl+, brawl-, BBrawl and stuff :) MAYBE) |
