Title: Replacing Pikmin with items? Post by: Jigiba on March 11, 2011, 03:55:21 PM How do you replace Olimar's pikmin with different items such as shells, guns, ect.?
Thanks in advance :af: Title: Re: Replacing Pikmin with items? Post by: Tasty Pumpkin Clock on March 11, 2011, 06:57:59 PM I'm pretty sure that's impossible.
You'd have to change his entire moveset... Title: Re: Replacing Pikmin with items? Post by: msp26 on March 12, 2011, 04:28:29 AM model swap then psa edit you have to model swap all the custumes
Title: Re: Replacing Pikmin with items? Post by: Snoopy on March 12, 2011, 11:31:01 AM no, it's possible. all you have to do is replace the Pikmin models with the models you want Olimar to have. StarWaffle did it with his Bomberman (put TL's bombs on the Pikmin) and his mini-Samus (put Metroids over the Pikmin), so i'd say to start by looking how he did it.
Title: Re: Replacing Pikmin with items? Post by: Tasty Pumpkin Clock on March 12, 2011, 03:57:33 PM I thought he actually wanted him to pull items out of the ground and use them.
Yeah but just replacing the models is easy. Title: Re: Replacing Pikmin with items? Post by: Jigiba on March 14, 2011, 07:16:48 AM I thought he actually wanted him to pull items out of the ground and use them. Yeah but just replacing the models is easy. Well, the plan was to change the entire moveset, I wanted his B attack to be for him to produce a shell, fire flower, gun, ect. out of the ground and into his hand. Do you know how to do it via changing the entire moveset..? :patrick: Title: Re: Replacing Pikmin with items? Post by: Tasty Pumpkin Clock on March 14, 2011, 07:49:19 AM Well... it takes a lot of work to create a whole new moveset...
You need every move planned out. What exactly do you want?? You don't want him to use the pikmin at all? Or do you still want the pikmin to be there but he spawns items?? Title: Re: Replacing Pikmin with items? Post by: nanobuds on March 14, 2011, 06:34:17 PM you can replace his pikmin with items. however the items wont work how they should... like the raygun wont shoot. but you can throw rayguns on people and they will attack the opponent...

How can I do this? :o Edit: Wait, how did the Shadow PSA I have generate a ray gun that was fully functional..? o.o Title: Re: Replacing Pikmin with items? Post by: Tasty Pumpkin Clock on March 14, 2011, 07:41:02 PM Okay, you can have him spawn them with taunts.
But you can't replace his neutral special with pulling items out of the ground. Or else how will he use his Pikmin? Title: Re: Replacing Pikmin with items? Or else how will he use his Pikmin? I didn't want Pikmin >.> I want to REPLACE that move with generating a fire flower, a green shell, and possibly a mushroom every so often.. Here's the whole attack: ------------------------------------- Generate items, rather than Pikmin. If to draw a blue or yellow Pikmin, generate a green shell instead. If to draw a pinkish white or purple Pikmin, generate a fire flower instead. If to draw a red Pikmin, generate a mushroom instead. (Not the poison one) and he can only have 3 items following him as the Pikmin do, to make him more balanced.. Title: Re: Replacing Pikmin with items? Post by: Tasty Pumpkin Clock on March 14, 2011, 08:03:39 PM Alright well you can't do that unless you change the entire moveset.
I'm no expert but I'm assuming this is a pretty difficult request. You have to replace every single move that involves Pikmin then, which is like... all of them. Title: Re: Replacing Pikmin with items? Post by: nanobuds on March 14, 2011, 08:04:19 PM this is very possible. but idk how to do it. ask the guy who made the latest shadow moveset, the one when the taunt generates items
Title: Re: Replacing Pikmin with items? Post by: Jigiba on March 14, 2011, 08:06:14 PM Woot, thanks everybody :af:
Now knowing that it's possible, I'm going to get right to it. (It's for Toad btw) Title: Re: Replacing Pikmin with items? You'll be lucky if someone actually does this. Title: Re: Replacing Pikmin with items? Post by: Lord_of_D: on March 14, 2011, 10:13:25 PM maybe you can make the pikmins look alike an item, replacing their models, but not their functions :oshi:
Title: Re: Replacing Pikmin with items? Post by: Tasty Pumpkin Clock on March 14, 2011, 10:15:55 PM Everyone is missing the point, he doesn't want the Pikmin to look like items, he wants to spawn items and use them.
Title: Re: Replacing Pikmin with items? Post by: ToddL on March 17, 2011, 03:32:51 PM There seems to be a lot of confusion surrounding not only what the OP wants accomplished, but also what is possible to accomplish. I have not worked with PSA before, nor have I done any model swapping, but based off of what I've seen others accomplish, this is what you should do to achieve your goal:
1) Swap the pikmin models for the models of the items you wish them to be. 2) Alter the moveset so that when you want Toad to use an item the game checks what kind of item (pikmin) is first in line, destroys that pikmin, and generates the corresponding item. Generating items to use in movesets is nothing special and pikmin model swapping isn't really new either, so the only place you may have a problem is in determining what item to spawn when certain pikmin are first in line. I can't image why it would be more difficult than a few simple if statements, but I do not know if PSA can give you access to the needed information about the order of the pikmin (seems likely that it should be able to, though). As was already suggested, if you truly intend to put the proper time and effort into creating a moveset, you should get in contact with SDo0m InCaRnAti0n (the maker of the Shadow PSA that spawns items). Sdoom is probably the most knowledgeable PSA'er in this community. Try not to be annoying by expecting him to do too much for you--if he is willing to be a source of information his help will be invaluable so you don't want to chase him off :) Best of luck with your project |
