Post by: DTST on April 02, 2011, 06:15:04 PM
can someone post a link to a tutorial on how to port characters?  example: porting shadow over marth sonic over DK or olimar ect i tryed porting rayman http://forums.kc-mm.com/Gallery/BrawlView.php?Number=12529 over pit by replacing pits file like model textures animation ect from rayman luigi's moveset files and the fitluigi file but when i select a stage the game freezes no annoying buzzing sound the wii stops loading the stage

you know the same thing happened to me i tried doing silver over diddy
cause i think he is sooo annoying (i mean his moves)
and because i had shadow over dk so i thought another sonic character would be nice
but anywho

i'm sorry but i can't help with that but!
there is some hacks that have other characters over some like
what i just said shadow over dk,
there's dr. mario over olimar
silver over luigi though there's a problem with 1 of the textures,
and many more
so why don't you do what i do
well unless someone replies to tell you how to do this
here's what i do,
i choose on here a character i do NOT like and
i look through every page of that character and for instance
there is mephiles over ganondorf (if you don't know who mephiles is he looks kinda like shadow) and i have shadow over dk so i do this
i extract the texture file out of the mephiles hack and put it in a shadow hack and it works like it was meant for it so that saves some space

hope this helps you and anyone else who reads
who don't know how to port characters (like i do lol)

y'know, this is exactly why there's an entire section for nothing but tutorials.  try checking there next time.

but, here's a link to my guide for model importing/swapping.

http://forums.kc-mm.com/index.php?topic=9248.0 (http://forums.kc-mm.com/index.php?topic=9248.0)

this will help you get the model working.  if you want to port an entire character, and not just the model, that would require exporting all the animations from the FitCharacterMotionEtc.pac and importing them into the replaced character's MotionEtc file.  then, you'll have to copy and paste everything from one PSA file to the next.  it would take a long time, and there may be some unexpected glitches and stuff that may come up.

and from the sounds of it, you just took Luigi's model and put it on Pit.  there's a large bone count difference between them, and that's why it froze on you.

hope this helps, and feel free to ask questions if you need to.

porting is VERY hard and tedious and requires a lot of skill. some people dont know what they are doing and just post random crap in BV.
