Title: I've always thought Toon Link was a clone, so.... *9.22.09 EDIT*
Post by: thanyou on September 11, 2009, 12:16:33 AM
I'm fixing him  ;D

So now he's not a time paradox, he's now the same link just from a different dimension/world/universe/artstyle  :af:

Basically, I'm just making Toon Link as he should've been; Wind Waker Link

Here's what I'm changin'

- New tilt moves
- New smashes
- New B moves
Here's what I've got in mind, but I want you're guys' opinions before I make a final decision.

What exactly do you mean? Are you making his moves based off of what he does in Wind Waker? If so, PLEASE OH PLEASE give him the Hurricane Spin! And if it's possible, maybe fire/ice/light arrows?

What I mean is that I'm going to make Toon Link the character he SHOULD have been, Wind Waker Link, which means I'll need some ideas in order to make this a reality

Thanks for making this. I !@#%ing hate Toon Link. And any other form of Link that isn't the adult one. O.o

Yes, it is a must, but I was just wondering how I should use it, either as his new Down smash or just keep it as is, but make it so you can move around while on the ground....

And regarding the Deku Leaf, I have NOOO [censored]ing idea how I'm gonna pull that off, maybe I'll make one outta GFX or something =p

I need some feed back on my ideas for the B moves before I start working on them, because they're good, but I'd like to hear your guys' ideas and thoughts.

I had thought pretty much the same as you when I did a "True Wind Waker Link" moveset a while ago, except the Deku Leaf was his up-b, and his side-b was Skull Hammer. I also replaced his hookshot with the grappling hook. I can't remember what I had as his neutral and down specials, but I think it was bombs and fire/ice arrows.

Could I see the .pac you made so I could get a better idea of how to execute my idea?

That and it sounds godly

i would recomend keeping his down b and side b the same. his bombs are custom made and the explosions give sucha  windwaker feel (please dont take that away). side b simply beacause its unique as is. i would probably mod it like u said. mabe have it hit enemies but keep moving thru them? (so it compleates its norm movement before returning.)

i really like the deku leaf idea!!

skull hammer sounds awesome but idk how you plan to do it. theres no prop

for hurricane spin, use a side taunt animation w/ custom hitboxes?

also, for final smash, my recomendation would be to make a tornado like when he ports while in the boat?
for that i have some ideas: use grafics to make a tornado around him (like the custom character Wisp's up B). use that for graffics (mabe more to really emphacize the wind stike)
have him on a loop to do his up taunt animation for 15 seconds). then just have an offsensive collision that does .005% per frame [about 45% by the end of the final smash], and a VERY high constant knockback. (like sends them flying but can struggle to fight against. then at the end when he compleates the taunt animation and the chime happens, have a strong windblast with graffics go one (mabe both) directions.  that can send people within those smaller hitboxes flying.
if u deleate all the comands in the final smash, u can just imput these (asyn timer frames, change action, and continue from there). i would also have an if else going on. if the L trigger is held, go to action ___ (and paste the origonal final smash there). that way ppl can choose.

hope this helped!
best of luck to you!

What I'm planning on doing is have it be the exact same attack, only be mapped to the Dsmash and not be usable as a recovery

just thought of something u can do for the deku leaf. idk if u can but if u take the final smash graphic (it can be solid on both sides unlike link's). theres something to make his final smash green. if u get in contact with the person who made that, mabe u can find out how to change the texture of the final smash triforce into a deku leaf. once u find it, and find a way to retexture it, the programing is easy as pie (toon link's hammer animation while holding it for if used in the air. then use the wait animation for win2 (i think its 2). its the one where he catches the pig and holds it above him. since no pig will be there, ull have an animation of him picking something up and holding it above his head.
...

ok mabe its not that simple actuially.

bingo. got it. Luigi's B move (doesnt have to be that cuzs i know u cant get his article, but something like that) if made bigger, and set to NOT rotate with the camera would make a good dekuleaf assuming it is slanted on a Z axis and is swung on a Y axis. any green fire anywhere? if so, this has a chance.
or u can be a badass and make it out of ray-gun shots. (lol would be so cool looking)

i was thinking neutral b be bow and arrow (changing between normal 75% fire arrow 12% ice arrow 12% and 1% light arrow) side b be skull hammer up b be deku leaf and down b for lack of a better idea iron boots (basically it's exactly like kirby's stone)

THANK YOU for giving the kind of feedback I wanted to hear ^^

*Ahem* Yeah, the boots aren't a bad idea, but I don't think it'd be nearly as useful on the ground....and I was considering the interchangeable arrows, although I honestly have no idea how I'd do that....maybe a dice roll event to decide which subaction it uses, but that would split all chances evenly, making a 1% chance of using a light arrow, 25% [Normal (25%) Fire/Ice (25% each) Light (25%)]

I think i have a better idea for the arrows. Whilst charging the arrow, you can press R or L to change the arrow type. Light arrows could have a small chance of popping up when you press L or R.

on the charging (or in this case, [censored]ing the bow.) subaction, put an "if" "else" command.
if R button pressed (look around. theres a list of command lines. i know they exist),
if L button pressed _____
else (lead to norm subaction.)

on the norm subaction, add a dice effect where theres a 1% chance of light arrow.

keep da bombz fool!

I just checked the Essential PSA info thread, and it said that R, L and Z are mapped to the same variable =/

cool then make it random.

edit: i was thinking and this might be impossible you said a "dice roll" right? why don't you make 5 "normal" arrows that are exactly the same 2 "fire" arrows that are the same 2 "ice" arrows that are the same and one light arrow that way there is just a 1/10 chance of light arrows, 1/5 chance of fire arrows, 1/5 chance of ice arrows, and 1/2 chance of normal arrows.

That would work for adding GFX to the bow, but as of now, I have no idea how to edit the hitboxes of articles, which is what the arrow is. I don't even know if its possible right now, but I will at least try to add the dice roll and GFX so there's a 50% chance of normal, 20% chance of Fire or Ice, and 10% chance of light arrows =D

Also, any ideas on what GFX I should use for the light arrows?

u could be lazy and spawn the hammer item, go thru a single animation fo the hammerswing. then make it disapear. the problem (and blessing) of spawning items in the same action they were spawned is that they cant have any weapon collisions. ull have to make ur own hitboxes for that move.

I don't know any of his hammer animations tho, so it probably will be the swing animation instead of the hammer to ground impact animation from wind waker, then again, if I can find an animation that does that, I can just add a hammer to it =D

deku leaf is kinda obvious if you played wind waker basically opens the leaf air blows him up the gently floats down. (hard to explain easy to show):

The only reason I'm doing this is because I HAVE played WW =p

and Yes, I sorta know how I'm gonna do the gliding part, but the real problem here is how do I get him to have the deku leaf. I'm prob just gonna make it outta gfx, but that might lag the game severely
