I really don't understand how to use .rel files for stages, even after looking at topics here-can someone help me?
EXAMPLE: say I want to replace the STGNEWPORK with bowsers castle, which comes with STGNEWPORK.pac (bowsers castle) and st_newpork.rel .
So I replace the original STGPORK with the bowsers castle one, and then replace the .rel file for it with the new one, but it just crashes when trying to loading the stage! Am I doing something wrong?
You just need to put the downloaded stgnewpork.pac (Bowser's Castle) into pf/stage/melee/ then put the st_newpork.rel in pf/module/
How would I do that with WiiScrubber?
open the iso and open the brawl partition. open the modual section and replace st_newpork.rel with the one u have from the bowsers castle, and thats it. if u have loader issues u can pm me i'll be happy to help if i can ^^
I'd already tried that-I should note that I'm using dolphin emulator. It just gives me the same error: 'unknown pointer adress prefix 41, report this to the devs: 0x41980000' :srs:
Thanks for trying to help though.:)
it should work on dolphin, its what i use to test my hacks before i put them on the loader. hmm what r ur exact steps?
I open WiiScrubber, open my brawl iso, open the partition1, go into stage folder, and replace STGNEWPORK with the bowsers castle version of it, then go into the module folder and replace the st_newpork.rel with the one that came with the downloaded stage.(bowsers castle in this case) Then I open Dolphin and start up brawl, go into the normal brawl mode and select newpork city, and that's when it gives me the error. :(
Sorry of that was hard to read XD
hmm seems ur doing it all right might just be that particular stage doesn't like dolphin
Only it happens with every stage, not just that one.>.> Though if I open a stage up in brawlbox and see what stage it was based on, then go and replace the original stage it was based on with the custom stage, then it works! So it's just the .rel files not working...
r u using the ntsc-u version of brawl?
nah, pal. Are the .rel files region dependant?
yes they r that would be why they r not working
that sucks.:/ I guess there's no way of converting them to pal either. Oh well, thanks heaps for the help anyway.:)

actually if u could find someone who's more knowledgeable in it, u could hex ur own rel's like u can do with ntsc-u. unfortunately i wouldn't know where to start looking but i doubt it would be hard if u knew what value to look for. anyway gl ^^
