Title: Pokedex 3D curiosity...
Post by: Iced_Shadows on June 14, 2011, 03:01:46 PM
I've been curious for a little while now... are the Pokemon models in the new Pokedex 3D app for the 3DS able to be imported into Brawl, like the models from PokePark Wii? This might just be a stupid question, but I just have to know. If the models work with Brawl, then it would be pretty cool to see some Pokeball Pokemon replaced with 5th generation Pokemon.

If the models were of the proper mdl0 format, then sure.

But due to the poor quality of DS models, I'm sure they would look terrible in-game.

I somehow hadn't thought of how they would look. Hm, silly me. Still, if they DO work, then it would still be worth trying. I mean, if you make the model small enough it might not look so crappy... haha. Meh. Thanks for the quick response in any case.

they aren't DS models, they're 3DS models.  Hypothetically, they have to be higher quality, and the poly count looks pretty high in the app, so I doubt they'll look bad, but I also doubt they're in mld0.

well... i COULD look through it in HxD editor for any MDL0's.. like sometime... later today. but like LordNOaH said... they might be for the 3DS only, just like DS, it also has MDL0's, but their in a smaller, and compressed format.

Send me the file you want to get checked out. I might work on the model format.

Neat. I sure hope it works, because it is pretty likely that ALL the Pokemon in all of their formes will eventually be available on the Pokedex 3D app, which would be pretty useful for Pokeball replacement packs and model replacements over the current characters. Personally, I'm more excited about Pokeball replacements even though nobody really does them anymore.

Anyway, thanks for giving this a try guys. I appreciate it a lot!

DS model formats are also the extension .mdl0, but work differently, have different data formatting.

Hate to rain on your parade, but only 153 of the Pokemon from Gen 5 are going to be included (so far)

Send us the format, I might write and extractor if I get bored. I'll at least document the file.

Ah, so I take it importing these models will be impossible?

Not if I write an extractor. Apparently no one wants to send me the file though >.>

I'd send it if I knew how. Unfortunately I'm bad with this sort of thing though, so hopefully someone does.

Anyway, I'd much appreciate it if you do write an extractor. That way somebody can hopefully do something with these cool models other than just look at them in a Pokedex.

Drag the file onto that green square and hit upload. No account needed.

Er, well what I should have said was that I don't even know how to access the file. =o Or what file you even need for that matter. I, myself, am not even a hacker. I've really only messed around with textures, but I'm even pretty bad at doing that. ^_^; Sorry... I really wish I could be of more help. I really do want to see this happen, after all.

I looked in the SD card, and all i saw was batch files and raw files, and a few .app files.

I don't see anything noticable in the files. I wouldn't be surprised if they had a compression to them.
