Post by: Weyard on June 29, 2011, 12:13:53 AM SAI is an art program.
Which art programs do you have? If you have nothing but Paint, GIMP and Paint.net are really you're only free options. SAI and Photoshop are the best, but they aren't free. I think Gimp has some textured brushes, but it's been a long time since I'ved used it so I can't remember how to swap to them. Anyway, to get the effect that all of the real brawl textures have, you just want a bunch of randomly marked/splotched layers with low opacity, down under your details. Title: Re: Textures..... After you get your basic colors down for your texture, make a layer, scribble over it with one of the fiber/woven-like brushes in a dark color. Lower the opacity so that you can barely make out the marks that you made. Repeat until the texture has an actual...."texture". I usually do this before putting in details, then add some highlighted frabric marks over top of the finished texture.

Post by: Parvati ~ <3 on June 29, 2011, 02:17:12 AM Do You Know How to Make Hair Textures? :F
Title: Re: Textures..... Post by: Weyard on June 29, 2011, 04:49:09 AM Are you making cellshaded hair or Brawl quality hair?
For Brawl quality, I would usually use the separated brush, should be called something like spread or fine. When you brush with it, it should make several hair like marks. Just use it in the direction of the hair growth. Make it look natural. Try to fill out the shape of the hair with a solid color, then go over it with a little dark color. Using this spread brush until it looks like hair. Then fill in the shaded parts with a darker shade of the color in moderation. Then do the same for highlights. After you have it looking kinda like hair, just make simple shading and high light splotches on it until it looks right. Title: Re: Textures.....
