Title: Mentor Needed Post by: NewFlash on July 03, 2011, 06:51:02 PM Hey everyone I'm RedFlash and I'm new to Brawl Hacking.
As my first project i want to make the character Minato Namikaze from the anime Naruto Shippuden. I would really appreciate if someone would mentor me in the making of this character. I need advice on where to start and how to make completely new attack animations. Title: Re: Mentor Needed Post by: Weyard on July 03, 2011, 08:28:54 PM Welcome to the Brawl hacking scene. I can't really be a mentor, but I can lead you to some guides real quick.
First things first, read through the Noob Guide. http://forums.kc-mm.com/index.php?topic=12169.0 It covers every aspect of Brawl hacking, ranging from setting up homebrew to making new movesets. Take your time and get accustomed to the terminology, needed programs and an idea of the task you will to undertake. Since you want to make a full fledged character, you will need to make a texture, edit someone's model, make new animations, then edit moves to fit those animations. Decide which character you will be making this hack on. Looks like Minato would to best on Ike or Snake because of his clothing and hair. Begin by making a rough texture. For texture hacking, you just need Brawlbox, which can be found in the NoobGuide if I'm not mistaken and a good art program. I recommend GIMP or Paint.net for starters. Both are free and can be found with a simple googlesearch. Unless you already have SAI paint tool or Photoshop, which are superior programs. - If you want to edit the model of the character(you will probably need to for this project), you will need to vertex it. You can go about this in 2 ways. The best being, the newest 3dsmax vertexing Method. You can find a guide on it here: http://forums.kc-mm.com/index.php?topic=13061.0 You will need BrawlBox(found in the guide at the top of my post), AIS (link can be found in the guide), ColladaMax plugin(found in the guide), and 3DSmax 8/9 modeling program. You can either buy it, get the trial edition, or be a dirty filthy pirate. The other method, is using the free program, Anim8or. You can only see the vertice points with this method as opposed to the entire model in 3dsmax. You can still do the job, but it is frustrating. You can find a guide to this method here: http://forums.kc-mm.com/index.php?topic=17704.0 Here is an advanced vertexing guide. Might be useful, I haven't looked at it in a while. http://forums.kc-mm.com/index.php?topic=8577.0 - As for making animations, you will just need Brawlbox(can be found in the noob guide at the top of my post). You can find a nice little guide to Animating in Brawlbox here: http://forums.kc-mm.com/index.php?topic=7064.0 - Lastly, if you want to make new moves to go along with those new animations, you will need Brawlbox and PSA(project smash attacks). It allows you to edit the attributes of characters and write/edit the code for each of their moves and animations. You can find a good guide to psa here: http://forums.kc-mm.com/index.php?topic=26504.0 Title: Re: Mentor Needed Post by: NewFlash on July 03, 2011, 08:54:45 PM Thanks Weyard you have been very helpful
