Title: .pac, but no .pcs?? Im really confused? Post by: Armani on July 18, 2011, 04:57:36 AM Ok guys, im new to this site (yeah im a bit of a noob right now) and I've hacked a few times, and gotten them to work. I got this Snake to be as Krauser(not my creation) and it had both .pac and .pcs files, and worked perfectly, then I found out about this site, searched around it a bit, downloaded 1 test character to see if it worked, and only the .pac was on it. So I researched the site, before posting this question, so I wont be Spamming it, with the same question over & over, and I couldnt seem to find my solution, all i read was I didnt need the .pcs unless I wanted the texture, but isnt a custom character should be included as a texture? i mean yeah it will have the same move, but it will look like the character the owner created. So im a bit confused on what files I need? Im sure i got everything handled, just the whole .pac and .pcs thing is really bothering me right now u.u so someone please help on that. and I cant wait to see what else this community has to offer. :)
Title: Re: .pac, but no .pcs?? Im really confused? Post by: Weyard on July 18, 2011, 07:25:53 AM the .pcs and .pac are basically the same exact file. The main thing is that .pcs is compressed and .pac is not. In multiplayer, textures/models are read from the .pcs. So if you want to use a character hack downloaded here, you will need the .pcs. Certain single player modes read the character data from the .pac, so sometimes you will also need it.
Characters that transform (PT, Wario, Bowser, Zelda, Samus/ZSS) always need the .pcs and .pac because transforming characters usually freeze if both aren't included. If you downloaded a character texture/model that only included the .pac, then you should open it up in BrawlBox and save it as a .pcs because the creator neglected to do so. Save it as an Archive Pair to actually get a .pac that won't freeze the game.
Title: Re: .pac, but no .pcs?? Im really confused? Post by: Armani on July 18, 2011, 03:15:16 PM OK guys thanks, I think I got the hang of it. and I got Brawlbox already. everything seems to be working fine :) But I know that at the end of a custom character texture, like for example (Snake00) I know the "00" means the original costume, which means the next one (snake01) is the diffrent color, how can I change it to a diffrent number, so I can have multiple textures to a character? Do I just change the numbers myself? or do I have to do something on BrawlBox to make it work?
But thanks guys for helping me on the .pac and .pcs thing, I was getting frustrated on that x) haha Title: Re: .pac, but no .pcs?? Im really confused? Post by: Weyard on July 19, 2011, 04:45:40 AM You can just right click the file and go to rename, then change it yourself. It doesn't have to be renamed via saving in Brawl Box.
