What do you mean creating a new folder named "link" didn't work? What exactly happened?

the messase says "cannot rename new folder : a file with the name you specified already exists" but its really not there i checked many times.

Maybe you accidently dragged the link folder into another fighter character folder.

look at hidden and system folders, in windows 7 it's in:
organise; folder and search options; view;
then make [hide protected operating system files] unticked
          and [show hidden files, folders, and drives] ticked
