I use Mariokart64n's methohd. It's easier because you do everything in 3ds max. But if you need to know that way go to the tutorial section

Edit:
let me refrase that. With mariokart64n's method you don't need external programs. but i will help you with whatever part is coonfusing you

Ok what you need to do is convert the pac file to dae with the ais program. then load it in blender. The new das donkey uses obj files not 3ds. So export the vertex that you want as an obj file BEFORE editing. Create a patch by selecting the obj and clicking create patch.  that will make a patched ddf file. Now edit the vertex anyway you like. When done export the vertex the same way as before. Click both the patched ddf and the new obj in das donkey and hit apply patch to mdl0. Replace the old mdl0 with the moded one. Save and convert the pac file to dae again. And do as before. Then replace the moded model with your new moded model. You repeat the process because the first time the model will look a bit messed up. Hope this helps you. If you already know this just say so and I'll explain what you need.

Here's two tutorials with two different methods http://forums.kc-mm.com/index.php?topic=12815.0 (http://forums.kc-mm.com/index.php?topic=12815.0)
http://forums.kc-mm.com/index.php?topic=13061.0 (http://forums.kc-mm.com/index.php?topic=13061.0) I do the second but try the first one before the second. Sorry my brief lecture was a failure.

sorry about the delayed reply my powers out so I am at my grandma's for power. What I ment was the latest das donkey could do it (don't hold me to that) but I don't know how. Mariokart64n's method requires a 3ds max script. Blender is able to import .dae files with a plug-in and export as .obj so that shold work. but the script is needed to fix the model so you would have to work with an unscaled and weird shaped model. Not a good way to edit. So the best way is to use the old das donkey. Or *cough*keygen*cough* So..... Yeah
