Title: Re: Pik's Textures, part 2 (*Updated today*) THIS IS IT! Post by: Dotz on November 14, 2009, 05:24:31 PM why do people insist on making textures that are just barely different?

Yours is nice...especially the Din...but I'm not sure Nayru is exactly...accurate... Though mine could use more detail as well. By the way, I reccomend taking pictures at Battlefield. It makes it much easier to see the characters' true colors. Title: Re: Pik's Textures, part 2 (*Updated today*) THIS IS IT! Post by: Pik on November 22, 2009, 04:54:15 PM Dotz, lol k, Samus and Link are my only two though.
Black Boo; Knowing you love the Oracle games, I'm sorry I took your idea. What do I need to fix on Nayru, exactly? Maybe a texture remake is in order. Also, I like adding fancy lighting to my textures but I guess I'll take your advice about Battlefield. GreenAlloy: What did you expect, cell shading him with the NES colours? :p (Although that would've worked perfectly) Title: Re: Pik's Textures, part 2 (*Updated today*) THIS IS IT! Post by: JBG on November 22, 2009, 06:32:03 PM Hang on...Pik...do I know you from somewhere...?
Anyway, what I think needs to be fixed on Nayru, from what I can tell, is the gold bordering on her clothes, first off. I guess you're trying to make it more...brawl-esque, but it honestly doesn't look good...Also, her dress, it shouldn't open that far. I'd say go for what the manga kinda had and make it low, near her feet/ankles and then slope up gradually, so it ends about mid shin? Your belts are great, and I've tried to fix mine to look like it, but it's a little difficult. However, I did manage to make it go across the opening in her top so the belts "complete" their circut. Pretty much everything else is fine except I would have left her bobs in so she doesn't have the hole in her head, y'know? What I really wanna know is how did you make the hair look so good? Like, the bangs are so nice and go into the rest of her hair perfectly, and her headdress isn't like, out there like mine is, though I just assume you put it on the face or something? Here, why don't we compare? :3 This is an older version (by that I mean yesterday and I updated it several times today) (http://img25.imageshack.us/img25/9867/nayruprogress.jpg) I've made her hair lighter and cover a bit more of her face since then, and I've darkened her light blue dress and changed her armbands and belts. Anyway, I'm rambling. I'll use your Din for now, which after closer observation, could use a bit of work itself. The triangles going down the sides of her suit are sloppy-looking, and they go onto her back, which they shouldn't. Din's outfit is also a halter-top, so the back should be open. Other than that, I'd say it's pretty good, though it could loose the lace around the neck, but again, I'll just assume you're making it more brawl-esque. Oh yeah, you should probably make the actual outfit a bit more...pink. It kinda blends with her skin atm. Title: Re: Pik's Textures, part 2 (*Updated today*) THIS IS IT! Post by: Pik on November 22, 2009, 10:01:47 PM We both go on tSR, so you might've seen me around there
We should probably do a collab for Nayru, we could prob. get something good-- Anyway, very good points. I hadn't noticed that the yellow belts didn't go around her. Also, the holes in my latest version were fixed (Leaving a tiny bit of the bobs in) As for hair, I made some of the crown parting hair, and yeah the tiara is textured on the face. (along with some more bangs) Also, I need to add sandals. Not boots. The triangles on Din are sloppy because ZSS' texture map sucks ass. Terribly. With her design, I tried to make her TP styled (Washed out colours, closed neck. I also added cloth patches to her but they aren't visible from these shots) (but point is my design sucks, lol) Title: Re: Pik's Textures, part 2 (*Updated today*) THIS IS IT! I also added cloth patches to her but they aren't visible from these shots) (but point is my design sucks, lol) I noticed that your hair was like that, so I took the liberty of fixing up my Nayru some as well, though it could be better. I also made the tiara part of the crown so that it doesn't move with the face when she's hit. (actually I've done this from the start but whatever). I've also made my own custom hair for her head, could probably use some work, but it gets the job done no? True my hair sucks, but this is just kind how I'm starting. I also reccommend you leave the ponytail in there, otherwise she'll have a hole in the back of her hair as well. Here look look (http://img109.imageshack.us/img109/4953/nayruprogress3.jpg) I just wish I could make my hair more shiny. Really all I do for my hair is strokes with a tablet...Y'know maybe you should handle the hair and those arm bands, and we can use my dress maybe? Of course, we could keep your belts...they're a lot nicer imo...or you could just style mine to look more like yours. I don't care. Actually y'know I really don't see the difference between ours now besides the dress, armbands, belts, and your hair's more shiny. I say we should probably take the best of both worlds here. And as far as Din goes, I'd help or make my own, but I don't have photoshop, and I don't know how to make the pallettes with GIMP. |
