Title: Marios Cape
Post by: MaxedOut on October 23, 2011, 09:34:57 PM
Hey, I'm making a gag character over mario that might be kind of cool. But I need to know something...

Is it possible to retexture marios cape?

Yes.

Okay, I've looked at mario's textures in his costume file, but it's not a part of them. :l where should I look, in the .pac?

If it's not in his costume file, it's most likely in his MotionEtc.

Okay, do you have any idea why my 3DS Max won't import any DAE's?
Like Period?

I have all the plugins installed and I can't even import them to vertex edit, let alone import a model from another game.

.... well that was a little random. XD

However, do you have the Collada plug-in? This one (http://update.multiverse.net/wiki/index.php/Installing_the_3ds_Max_COLLADA_Plugin), I think.

Also, what version 3DS Max do you have?

I have both 8 and 10 installed, 10 for the importer obviously, and 8 for vertexing and maybe getting importers into it XP

and lol not as random as you think X_X I can be a lot more random than that *shrug*

I just downloaded and installed that one :D
The right collada importer is on max 8's list now, I'm going to test it real quick =3
*crosses fingers*

Also, would it possible to replace the texture of marios cape with like, a really small image of something?

EDIT: Downloaded and installed that one, the collada max appears on the list, but nothing happens at all. I get the "import axes" dialogue and click yes, but nothing appears in the scene file I'm working on.... at all....

I dont see why not. Just make sure the sizes match up so it looks recognizable.

Kay, it's just  a matrix pattern so I'm hoping it will resize decently.

as for the installer, I got the colada max to appear on max 8's list, but it still imports nothing even after I get the dialogue that asks about the 'import axis'

All the dae models I'm trying to import were made with AIS btw.

Really?

List the steps that you take. I want to know exactly what you're doing.

Well... after I installed that particular plugin

1: I create the dae from ais
2: I run 3ds max 8 like normal
3: I click on import and click the mario00.dae and select the COLLADA option (the one that has .DAE and .XML as the file types)
4: I click Yes on the import dialogue that asks about the axies (Import Y axis etc)
5: NOTHING imports, there's no errors or anything like that.

I'll try creating a new dae now that I have that plugin installed, maybe that'll help? :l

Perhaps. I'm not too sure, to be honest. /:

wow....I feel really stupid.... xD

All I needed to do was change the 'opens with' option from BB to 3DS Max =3

I have no idea why I didn't think of that before *shot*
Oh well, thanks for the help. Now to get to work on Rigging  Kisame to ikes bones :D

Not a problem, glad you got it to work.

The part that makes me feel stupid is that I've been trying to get this to work for 3 Days X_X
But yeah, thanks for the help in both parts.

where should I look if it isn't in the motionetc? (mario's cape texture)
