Title: BB's Textures (Updated 12/6) Post by: JBG on November 23, 2009, 06:47:37 PM Hi guys. I guess you could say I'm new...ish...okay yeah I joined yesterday. I'm also new to texture hacking, kinda, I've only got one somewhat successful one, pretty much all the others are either in early WIP or I can't make them without photoshop (yes I'm still using ASH, I don't know how to use BrawlBox...)
Anyway, here's that one successful texture I mentioned. Nayru (updated) (http://img4.imageshack.us/img4/619/nayruprogress5.jpg) (http://img16.imageshack.us/img16/2999/nayruprogress4.jpg) Ralph (http://img686.imageshack.us/img686/2104/ralphprogress.jpg) Not much left to do on him, just maybe give him some more detail and customize his sheild, and I think I'm good. Fierce Deity Toon Link Tutorial THIS IS IMPORTANT GUYS Okay, so some people kinda slop through their textures like, yeah, whatever. Well I've made a delightful method of making textures that's so easy to understand, a monkey could do it. I've decided to use a Fierce Deity Toon Link as an example since everybody loves making those. I don't blame 'em, Toon link is fun to work with. STEP 1: BASICS Here we tackle the basics of the texture, such as colors that need to be changed, facial markings, etc. (http://img44.imageshack.us/img44/9946/78100519.jpg) Ooh! Ouch what happened with the facial markings? That's not right. That's why we should always ALWAYS test often, especially before making significant changes to the testure. (http://img15.imageshack.us/img15/5769/19824138.jpg) Ah. Much better. I also too the time during the revision to give him his gray gloves. STEP 2: OUTLINING Now here we're going to make the details of the armor. Here's a huge tip, always work with a referance picture. Now I've used dark colors of the base colors that will fill the blue area for the outlining, sort of to help me to remember what colors go where. (http://img33.imageshack.us/img33/6033/53293198.jpg) Ah ah ah! Don't be lazy and cop out! Do the back too! (http://img707.imageshack.us/img707/1623/55174693.jpg) There. Now let's add the remaining details. (http://img189.imageshack.us/img189/2401/89426676.jpg) Perfect. Now this step I HIGHLY adivse that you do the outlining for such drastic changes on a seperate layer using Paint.Net or Photoshop, so it's easy to go back and revise without destroying the texture. Save one copy as pdn or pswhatever it is for photoshop and one copy as the .png you use for implanting back into ther .pac. STEP 3: CELL SHADING Now we just give our little friend some color by filling in the outlined areas with the base colors. (http://img704.imageshack.us/img704/7503/79118771.jpg) Steps to come: STEP 4: Shading STEP 5: Tinkering (i.e. Sword, Sheild, etc.) Okay well apparently the new board doesn't support spoiler tags, so sorry if this is stretchin my post. Well this is as far as I've gotten in mine, so I'll just leave you with a badass picture. (http://img33.imageshack.us/img33/2051/grrrzi.jpg) Sorry, not available for download just yet. But enjoy the eye candy! :3 Boredom photos of my hacks in action (http://img268.imageshack.us/img268/3999/ohnoezq.jpg) Comment: :O Title: Re: BB's Textures Post by: RAWRzilla on November 23, 2009, 10:25:51 PM I'm sorry, but I don't understand the phrase "don't know how to use Brawlbox".
I fail to see what is so difficult about: 1. Download Brawlbox. This step doesn't need any elaboration if you're over 12. 2. Open your PAC/PCS file with Brawlbox. It REALLY doesn't matter which. 3. Browse to folder marked "Textures", right click the one you want to change and click "Extract." 4. Edit the resulting PNG file until you are satisfied. 5. Open same PAC/PCS file, right click the same texture, and click replace, then Okay. (Optional) 6. Post download link from your file hosting site of choice (Mediafire and Depositfile are stellar choices. You are welcome, and have a nice f*cking day. :D Title: Re: BB's Textures Post by: vcvmajinken on November 24, 2009, 08:22:08 AM Good job I also use Ash XD
Title: Re: BB's Textures Post by: sasook on November 24, 2009, 02:42:36 PM Nice Nayru. Very similar to this:

We're probably going to collaberate in the end, maybe not, I dunno. Though I have noticed that my Nayru's hair might be a bit too saturated...
Also, I've made a Ralph texture as well. It's almost done, I really just need to customize his sheild and put studs on his belts. (I'll give you three guessas as to whom I'm using for it) Title: Re: BB's Textures Post by: JBG on November 25, 2009, 02:23:59 PM I'm sorry, but I don't understand the phrase "don't know how to use Brawlbox". Well it was more of knowing how to use the model previewer and such.I fail to see what is so difficult about: 1. Download Brawlbox. This step doesn't need any elaboration if you're over 12. 2. Open your PAC/PCS file with Brawlbox. It REALLY doesn't matter which. 3. Browse to folder marked "Textures", right click the one you want to change and click "Extract." 4. I've got A FD TL in the works right now, and I'm also trying to make a Din to match my Nayru. I'll also be touching up these textures sometime. Title: Re: BB's Textures (Updated 11/25) Post by: JBG on December 06, 2009, 11:24:51 AM Bumping again, putting a FDTL tutorial in the first post, partly to show how I make textures, partly to show how to properly make one of them properly.

Title: Re: BB's Textures (Updated 12/6) Post by: JBG on December 07, 2009, 03:55:35 PM Gracias.
Guys I need you to tell me...do you care? I've pretty much lost all my motive to make textures now, don't know why, but I just don't care anymore... Title: Re: BB's Textures (Updated 12/6) Post by: Tasty Pumpkin Clock on December 07, 2009, 04:36:08 PM Well you shouldn't be doing it for us, you should be doing it because you like to. I've made a ton, and I find it awesome, making characters and playing as them.
I personally think you should keep going, but if you don't want to then don't. Hopefully you find new motive. Title: Re: BB's Textures (Updated 12/6) Post by: JBG on December 07, 2009, 06:47:16 PM Blah I'm really not doing it for you, I've just lost my drive to finish these, y'know? I mean over thanksgiving break I made the whole FDTL tutorial, now I'm just kinda like "whatever", though I'm starting to get inspired again.
Title: Re: BB's Textures (Updated 12/6) Post by: JBG on December 27, 2009, 10:30:03 AM Bumping after a long time...would be nice to know if someone would even like to use these besides me or even cares about this topic...
Title: Re: BB's Textures (Updated 12/6) Post by: TheFirstZero on December 27, 2009, 11:04:08 AM These are awesome, & I do like the whole FD TL tutorial, but to be complementary honest I think we've all seen some kind of FD TL everywhere.
I do like the Naryu, very nice like a revamp of Pik's. I kinda know how you feel about the topic, but just release some new cool things people haven't seen and you're sure to get some feedback. |
