What program do you use to edit textures? I mainly use Paint. It's so easy to use, and best of all, it's free! If I'm dealing with palettes, though, I edit with Paint and then index with GIMP. Personally, I find GIMP annoying. I've never tried Photoshop. How about you? Feel free to share your opinions!
GIMP is all I use.
There are a few awkward things about it... but you get used to them. Hell, I got so used to the "Ctrl+K" to delete that when they changed the hotkey to just "delete" I immediately changed it back.
I use all 3, various reasons (Paint.NET for FS Eyes, Gimp for CSP/textures, photoshop for alpha layers, and indexing).
I use Photoshop 7.0. I really don't like GIMP and I haven't tried Paint.NET.
I use GIMP for everything.
does paint.NET do indexing???
I usually use Paint.NET for things I can't do in MSPaint and XnView. I don't do major image editing and creation, so I haven't ever needed anything more. I'll look into GIMP if I ever I need to though.
I use photoshop CS3 for doing most of the texture, CS4 for the the stuff CS3 doesn't have and photoshop 7 for alpha stuff.
how to index with GIMP
I never used Paint.net, but I do use The GIMP to edit my textures. Of course, I do use Photoshop CS4 to index most of the indexed textures; very few indexed textures can actually be indexed through The GIMP.
guys I downloaded an only 50mb photoshop CS3
Free and not limited
just search google for photoshop cs3 50mb free download
there is nothing you cant do with photoshop
but only transperancy
and alpha things actually you can do them on gimp or paint.NET

The GIMP is WAY better for editing textures, but it can't index them properly, which is where Photoshop comes to the picture.

I have that link in my ASH thread :P ALSO YES YOU CAN DO TRANSPARENCY IN CS3 (YES THE 50MB VERSION TOO) ITS CALLED AN ALPHA LAYER. All photoshops in the "CS*" range all require an alpha layer to get transparency.
Whats alpha layer
im new to photoshop
I always use Photoshop CS3. Because I don't have CS4.

PS7 doesnt use alpha layer, it just select and delete.
my textures are 100% made in photoshop cs4
I always use Photoshop CS2 for my textures.
Nerf!... I mean GIMP.
I use Paint.net mostly for all textures. Gimp I use for +1 and +2 or CSP. I never used PS I heard its very good.
CS2
Sometimes GIMP, sometimes Photoshop. Depends on my mood and what kind of texture I'm working on. For some examples: my Hydrocity Zone texture was created with Photoshop, while my Rave & Watch texture was created with GIMP.
I use GIMP because it's free (or at least the way I got it) and I don't spend money on anything for hacking.
PS 7.0. ^^
PS CS3 :P
I use Paint.NET for texturing and GIMP for detailing and indexing. I personally find it a little intimidating, though useful.
Paint.NET for everything. CS4 for indexing.
Photoshop CS4 for everything. EVERYTHING.
Photoshop for most of the editing and all the indexing, then Gimp for transparency's and minor editing.
I use an OLD photoshop (elements 5)
but its good enough for me :)
i use all three paint.net texture hacking gimp for indexing and I use photoshop sometimes for indexing or indexing specific tga's like mk eye.
I use Photoshop for almost everything, but I use Paint.NET for transparencies. My version of Photoshop doesn't have anything involving alpha channels.

Why can't you just use one? It's way easier.
I use Pain.net for textures. And Gimp for indexed textures and CSP's.
I use Gimp. I don't really want to buy photoshop and Paint.NET doesn't seem to work :| It's very odd.
