Title: Brawl frame skipping
Post by: Equinox on January 25, 2013, 12:50:13 AM
Has anyone ever had a problem with stage texture hacks that causes the game to (what seems like) skip frames? It's not just my wii that does it, it's happened on other wii's as well. Is there anything you can think of that could be causing this? Sorry, I know it's not much to go on.

I have the alternate stage loader by the way.

To my understanding, it happens if the game's rendering a bunch of complex models at the same time. If you play with just two players on the map, each with a default Brawl model, does it still happen?

The question is how much does the game skip frames... there are 2 instances I can think of.

Yeah, it happens in 1v1 matches (offline) with default character models. When I remove my SD card (and codes are still loaded), it doesn't happen.

I'm not sure about the exact number of frames, but it's pretty noticeable. And I mean, I'm just using stage textures from the vault when it happens. For example, this one

【SSBB】BlackBelt(Snake) vs tige(MK)【StarSand Ville】 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OWav_WzSt8o#)

Come to think of it, this video looks a little choppy... but in the actual game, it would be even worse than this.

You said stage hacks... do you know which one lags for you?

the list goes on... The strangest thing is that it doesn't always happen. Once it starts, however, it happens in every match (with any stage texture besides default) until I reset. It's pretty much on every stage texture I have.

Do you happen to have any Character hacks as well? Some of the character hacks I have lowers the frame rate of the game. Most likely because of the amount of vertices on the character.

Hm. I'm not sure what'd cause that, then. Perhaps your SD Card needs a fresh format? That's the best I've got.

Sorry. :(

I turned off all character textures and it still happened.

That's what I was thinking too. I'll try that later tonight and let you guys know how it goes. Thanks!

Thanks for your help, Marios and Bloody! Reformatting the card got it working. I guess the problem was with the actual SD card.

Ah, excellent. Glad to help (even if you'd already figured it out).
