Hey guys,

So i just joined recently. I've been modding smash bros for almost a year but I just haven't joined because I don't think any of my work is good enough to show yet :p but I had to ask this question because it's driving me crazy.

Brawlbox doesn't work at all anymore! I've been using Brawlbox .67b for the past few months now. Everything has been working fine! I was using it on my laptop and saving changes to my common5, and it worked. But then the next time I tried to save it said "unable to open file for write access". Weird, maybe I should restart Brawlbox.

So I did, and it didn't fix it. Huh, okay, maybe I should restart windows. Didn't fix it. Okay, maybe it's just the common5, i'll try saving something else, like a pac. Nope. It won't save anything anymore! If I try to do a Save As I either get a copy of the original file BEFORE I edited it, or it says "The given key was not present in the dictionary" and won't save at all. So I thought maybe, some how I broke brawlbox on my computer. I reinstalled it, and it still didn't work.

So then I thought maybe I did some unrepairable thing to that computer. I tried editing a file using the brawlbox on my desktop completely unrelated to the one on my laptop. It worked yesterday. I turned it on and tried to edit an animation. "Unable to open file for write access"

I have no idea what could've caused this! I don't think it's a windows update because it stopped working while I was using it. I don't know how it affected my other computers, or why it's happening, but does anyone know how to fix this? It's killing me!

what are you trying to edit and where are you saving to

Originally, I was trying common5.pac and saving to my hdd.

Although I can't save anything. I've also tried numerous numbers of character files like FitFalco.pac, STGFINAL.pac, etc.

I suggest re-downloading that version of BrawlBox, or up/downgrading if that doesn't work.

Tried both. The downgraded versions have a slightly more specific error, something about it being opened in another software, but trust me it's not. I've used process explorer to see and the pac is only opened in Brawlbox and it's DLL.
