Your .xml, what is it? most of the problems of CSS/SSS are caused by the .xml file...

Are you PAL or NTSC-US??

Hum a.xml... Don't really know how to explain...
It's a text file that allows you to use the hack... Some may or may not agree but whatever,
So... You need Beyond.xml which is in the other category of hacks 10th page or more cant really remember...
If i wasnt on a tablet, i'd gave you the link...

Both of them. All your files in sc selcharacter must be in common5.pac
Hope it helped :)

O_o this way that will be hard...

So, all your mods EXCEPT CSS are working right?

well yeah i just started like a week ago, i have two texture mods that work fine, obviously i could care less if i have to redo those to get other things working, eventually i want the full works of all hacks, csps, texture, psas, etc.

when i did the textures i made the folders for each character in the fighter folder and only put in the files into those two replacing only one color

Awkay, let's make it simple

You know the way in your sd card so...

Stages = sd\private\...\pf\stage\melee\your file is here
Menu2 (CSS/SSS) = sd\private\...\pf\menu2\your file is here
System (common files) = sd\private\...\system\your file is here

And the content of the sc selcharacter must be the same of the content of the one in common5
Got it?

would it just be safe for me to download the partition on the resource page and use those files? from there i could essentially do all my csps replacements and texture hacks correct?

Yea.. Why not? Just remember, this is the original files of the game and obviously you ll have to pass there to have a clean common5 and/or sc selcharacter

You don't need an xml. Replace the CSPs in your Common5.pac in Brawlbox, like you said you're doing, and put that file into the system folder on your SD card.

It goes: Root->private->wii->app->rsbe->pf->system->common5.pac

To replace the in-game battle portraits you'll need to edit the character's InfFaceXXX.brres files, which go in folder ....->pf->info->portrite

And to replace the victory screen icons you'll need to edit the character's MenSelchrFaceBXXX.brres, which go in folder ....->pf->menu->common->char_bust_tex

The selcharacter file is actually part of the common5. You don't need them both. If you're editing the common5 directly, you won't have anything in the menu2 folder.

What's the file size on your common5? If it gets too large, the wii won't be able to load it and it will crash, and you'll get the beep of death. I think the default size is 11.6mb, and you don't want to go over that. Make sure the images you're replacing have indexed colors with the same value as the image your replacing. I just make sure all my icons are 115 colors, that way they're safe no matter what.

yeah the common5 is 11,922kb so thats good and so far ive just tried to use Csps that are on the site, not confident enough to make my own yet =P

Do me a favor. Try using this common5: http://forums.kc-mm.com/Gallery/BrawlView.php?Number=24566 (http://forums.kc-mm.com/Gallery/BrawlView.php?Number=24566)

That one's pre-shrunk, so there's no chance the images you add will push it over the file size. Brawl is really finicky with file sizes, so if it still crashes with that one, then we can definitely conclude it's not the file size that's causing the problem.

Also, is your file named common5.pac or common5_en.pac? The first is for Gecko, the second is for riivo.
