Title: Help
Post by: smg600 on July 27, 2013, 01:17:49 PM
Recently, I had just downloaded a model pack called "Brawl Young Link (Melee Import)" by Alm5252 and BabyLuigiOnFire.

The hack is an import of Young Link's Melee Model (with Brawl styled textures) over Toon Link's.

So, anyway, the .rar comes with a folder that has a PAC file inside entitled FitToonLink00.pac, which I assumed had the model in it, and what do you know, it did!

I assume that I just place the file in the following path.

G:/private/wii/app/RSBE/pf/fighter/toonlink

Well, I copied and pasted it into the toonlink folder, and took my SD card to the Wii.

I then launched Riivolution v1.04 with a SSBB disc booted in, and I also make sure File Code replacement is enabled, then I launch the game.

But then I realized that nothing had changed to my game. Toon Link's model was still there!

So, can anyone help me out here and tell me I did wrong? I would really appreciate it, since I'm a n00b.

Is there a .pcs file in there? .pac files are for things like SSE.

No, but I also downloaded Pallet Swaps of Young Link which were made by the same person, and the .rar contained both PAC and PCS files.

So the game didn't freeze, it was just regular old Toon Link? Make sure you have the pcs files on your card and they're named correctly (fittoonlink00, etc) and that your file paths are correct (they look like they are, but it doesn't hurt to double check) because other than the file patch code not being on/correct I can't think of an explanation for this. ARe you running any working hacks?

Alright then, I just need to get a .pcs file for Toon Link and I need to make sure my files are correct. Does anyone know where I can find one?

P.S I don't know whether the hacks work or not.

If you have BrawlBox you could open the .pac & save it as a .pcs

Uh, no? That would basically make his Wii freeze...........

Save the .pac file as a .pair, it will make the correct .pac and .pcs with their respective right sizes to prevent any freeze from happening.

I tried both of those methods, but it still shows up as Toon Link!  :(

Unless you're using Riivolution for Gecko users, you're setup is wrong. I'm not much a Riivo user though, so that's all I'm saying...

Do you at least know anyone else who knows the right setup?

I used to use Riivolution
If you use Beyond XML, your setup is correct...

May I see your SD card?

Well, it's size is 2GB, the file system is FAT32, and the allocation unit size is 4096 kilobytes.

My SD card also contains:
apps
private
riivolution

What do you have in your riivo folder?

Post by: smg600 on August 06, 2013, 07:14:57 PM
/riivolution/
         --------/config/
                          ---------RSBE.xml
         --------codehandler.bin
         --------SSBB.xml

Is there anything you see that is incorrect?

Nope... And that's what I'm wondering...
Are all your folders in the pf folder are named correctly?

/Info/Portrite/*your files*
/Menu/Common/Char_bust_tex/*your files*
/Menu2/*your files*
/System/*your files*

The only folder in my pf folder is /fighter/, which contains the toonlink folder for the pac and pcs files.

Hmm... Kinda strange...
Try to fix your problem with this tutorial : Brawl Modding Tutorial: Characters (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=owKg7u7oedE#noexternalembed-ws)
