Title: lz77ex is being dumb
Post by: Double D. on March 08, 2010, 01:40:45 PM
It normally works fine recently its been acting up...now, when I drag my .PCS file into it..it convertes it and its the correct size that a .PAC should be for that particular character, but when I try to change the file extension type to .PAC from .PCS.OUT, it doesn't change it at all...it stays an .OUT file and the .PAC I typed in just becomes a part of the file name...ie :"MasklessMetaKnight.pac" although once you type in .PAC it should disappear and turn the file extension type to .PAC, it doesn't...it stays a stupid .OUT file. Something wrong with my lz77ex? I tried this with 3 different ones on my PC and still the same thing...

It's probably your folder settings in Windows. Do you have it to hide extensions for known files types?
And you know you can do the conversion with BrawlBox instead of using lz77ex on its own.

yeah its hiding known file types, and how do I use BrawlBox to extract the .PAC and get the textures?

Check the compression status of the file.  If it reads LZ77, then it's compressed.  To decompress the file, set the compression status to None.

Just open the .pcs with BrawlBox, do Save As and choose .pac.
