Title: Question on Moveset mods
Post by: bleachmagic on September 01, 2013, 06:32:36 PM
Alright im working on porting Link over Wario but im using the Dark Link Moveset,so i started porting Dark Link's Down B over Wario's Down B
Heres what i did
i copied over Dark Link's Down B under Special in Smash Attacks
then i Copied over the Sub Actions using Brawl Box
the attack does not work and nothing happens i am very new to modding movesets and i have only minor knowledge i was hoping someone could tell me what exactly im doing wrong or if i am missing a step,i would really appreciate it if someone could give me a good answer to this and not a link to a guide on how to make movesets, thanks.

Copying one and Pasting them to the other usually does not work. Mind showing us the contents of the Action and SubAction? Taking a Screenshot would be the easiest thing to do...

Yep... definitely won't work... You got Subroutines and Actions that are both character specific.

You're gonna have to use some common sense, and read this tutorial (http://forums.kc-mm.com/index.php?topic=55981.0) if you wanna get your results. I forgot to ask, what does the special do?

Sigh, alright um let's see the special has link spinning, yelling and then a dark aura surrounds him/explodes and does damage and question would this method have worked if I used a attack from another wario move set?

It won't matter cause it's still over Wario. And it won't work on any other character either most of the time.

Alright, now I actually checked your guide out before I tried any of this but it mentioned sub actions already being filled out and I didn't understand exactly what to do in that area.

Use common sense. The Actions tell which SubAction it plays. The SubAction contains all the HitBoxes, GFX, SFX, and Other Tabs used for an attack. I'm assuming that's done done because you simply copied and pasted everything. This would be the time when the Copy and Paste Method works. Though, you'll need to alter a few things to make it work perfectly.

Think of the Actions this way, The Action is basically the system of the Special Attack. It controls how the Special Works.

I'm an idiot. I just remembered you're porting one character over the other. There's rel porting, but I'm clueless around that area.

Oh no your not I am porting a character over another character but I'm not using the rel method and basically I'm just using Link as a base for a future mod I'm simply doing the moveset first.

So, you're saying you'll port it later then? In that case, just say something if you have any more problems.

Um I don't believe I'm explaining well enough,I am porting link over wario without a rel I have already ported link over wario but link is just a base for a model port but I haven't  even rigged the model yet cause I wanted to get the moveset done first which led me to here.
