Title: how do you apply the portraits on CSS
Post by: patoons on July 05, 2009, 04:54:20 PM
hi, new to textures, a buddy of mine sent me the whole setup,  but i put different textures in, the textures work (eg phazon suit for samus, naked snake) during gameplay, but how does one go about setting up the portraits for character select screen??

If you want to make your own CSP's remember to use exact magenta, with no inbetweens (edges of character are slightly magenta), and to index the .tga. It's actually pretty nice after you get used to it.

oh i don't know about that, unless it involves simply taking any pic of a character and setting it up. i was just curious about CSPs for the textures on this site, eg i got a phazon suit samus, and PED suit, i would like to have CSPs for that.

Take a snapshot of the texture, decrypt it, and then start editing the snapshot to make your portrait.

You can download the offline decrypter by going to the link below.  Keep note that this only works with PC computers.

ok, now they are JPG, i can edit them as i see fit, how do i get it to replace the CSP? what folder is it stored on, & is there one single file that replaces all the CSPs? or you have to do it individually, like the textures themselves (samus01, 02 etc)

ok, i got it down, but i have 1 problem. when i run step2_create.bat, i get both the info and menu folder, but no "system" folder.

and correct me if i may be wrong, but when you are replacing textures, assuming the character has 6 outfits, the textures correspond to the color as snake00, 01, 02, 03, 04, 05, 06, and the CSP would go snake01, 02, 03, 04, 05, 06. im not sure if i fully get the numbers.

No system folder? Are you letting it close by itself instead of closing it manually?

ive done the process several times, deleted CUPASH redownloaded it, same thing. i dont get it. im following instructions to the T. i am not a extremely savvy person, i am no slouch, but i can follow directions. no system folder is being created (for the record, i've successfully done it before, i just am changing a few things)

i have every tga for every costume in the game set properly, would a good samaratin mind, if i send the folder, to create it for me? (i dont care about the ingame portraits, just the CSS/victory screen)

if i weren't already bald, i'da pulled all my hair out by now.

you're putting the new edited pictures in "newfiles" ?
you don't get any error message?
you have all the needed files? are they named like they should?

Does the path you extracted to (C:/) have any spaces? Ex. C:/portraits

Try not including spaces.

well i dont have a portraits folder, just whats included in cupash, texconv and ntcompress. for the record, i am changing an already edited common5.pac. the info and menu folders are creating, just not the system.

ok, my friend sent me a pack full of textures for everyone and CSPs. that works fine. i decided to change a few, i changed snake, samus, sonic, sheik/zelda, link. ganon and falcon i removed their textures that came along with the pack, cuz i didnt like them. the rest of the characters are gonna stay the way i got them.

so i got the tgas for those characters i changed, everything is correct. so in the newfiles folder, i put the ones i want to change, not working

i dont know if those files missing have anything to do with it.
