Title: How do I properly replace characters?
Post by: Uikri on November 10, 2013, 10:09:05 AM
As an example, I'm going to use this Waluigi mod. (http://forums.kc-mm.com/Gallery/BrawlView.php?Number=23028) Waluigi himself works, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to replace all of pit's portraits and name text. I've even gone into the common5.pac and edited everything of Pit I could find, but Pit's picture and bow/arrow symbol still show up during battle and the results screen. How do I completely utilize this mod?

Additionally, how can I add extra characters without replacing anyone?

If you wanna change in-game portraits, create a new folder in the pf folder called...

 info > portrite

From there, these files (https://www.dropbox.com/sh/p01chjw1j1k4zuz/h4RfQ9q4gL/info/portrite) would be used.

That should be correct. Though I've never modded In-game portraits, so I could be wrong.

Yeah, that's correct. And if you ever get confused as to which brres matches with which character slot, their numbers match with their CSPs in selcharacter.pac. So if you're ever mass editing them, you should keep an extra brawlbox open for that.

Also if you ever need custom BPs, I just made some for like 40 different characters.

And in answer to your first question about adding characters without replacing anyone, the short answer is you can't at this time. You need the clone engine to do so, and it's not public.
