Title: Skills learned from modding this game

Hey guys, I'm new and had a quick question. I've always been interested in level design, 3d design, and game modding in general. My question for you, as someone who has no knowledge yet about modding or hacking brawl, is if any of the skills learned here transfers over into other games? I'd like to sink my teeth in and make new content for this game, but am curious if the knowledge I gain will be useful later. Thanks. I'm mainly asking this because Im aware a lot of the modding here uses specialized tools designed just for brawl.

Well, you'll at least learn Level Design along with 3D Modeling and how materials and rigging works. It'll also give you a nice intro to 3D animation. I actually learned how to code from PSA before I learned any real languages.

So yeah, it does apply to different areas, but unless you're doing custom stuff it'll only apply to games. I get a lot of practice by making my own models. and programming my own games in a few languages.

If you get into hex and assembly, that will DEFINITELY help you in the long run in tech-related fields. But that road's a pretty long one.

I learned how to say I'm gonna do something and then put it off until I'm no longer interested in it. That's not something you see every day.

But for real, if you actually get into it you can learn a lot about certain modelling programs, like 3DS Max. That's something you can use anywhere, in terms of 3D design. Plus, the skills are transferable (to an extent). Learn Max, you might have a decent handle on Maya, on Blender, etc etc. It's worth tinkering with. You can learn a lot of stuff from just about every field of Brawl modding, so try each one and find one or two you like.

For example, I've made it a goal to get into ASM and coding and such because I'm sick of being on the sidelines and want to do something worthwhile. That sort of stuff is applicable in a lot of places, not just Brawl, so it's worth learning because why not.



Wow that was a lot wordier than I intended for it to be. I feel like I didn't even say anything. Oh well.
