Title: Help! General Brawl hacks
Post by: Neon Sovereign on July 13, 2015, 09:11:06 PM
Hi i want to ask about a few hacks that i've seen in the Vault

!.-The Brawl Expansion Project (the code that adds more charater slots without replacing others) only works with Gecko? if so, is there a simliar hack or code that can work on Riivolution?

2.-I never used Gecko but if that code only works with Gecko maybe i'll try using it, what are the diferences between Gecko and Riivolution? in my SD card i have brtsm and SFX replacements for Lucario and Toon Link but i think Gecko uses codes for that idk

3.--Now talking about gct codes, after many failed tries i finally managed to make them work on my Wii, but i don't remember where i downloaded the gct that i'm using and it has codes that i want to erase (for example the Giga Bowser, Wario Man and the Alloys slots) and others that i want to keep (for example independet Pokemon engine, and the Unrestricted Pause Camera), is there a post, thread or something where i can see all the codes and what they do to do a new gct?

If i remember correctly from a different thread, they said that the file structure was just a tiny bit different.

But I do have a .gct with codes for gecko using sfx.

HOWEVER, you will have to use GCTEdit in order to add the BrawlEx code and the others. I will try to find the other codes for you.

1. See my answer "C" in number 2 below.

2. These are the differences that I know of between Gecko and Riivolution:

*Note: For reference, answer "B" will just be referred to as B

        A. Riivolution's file locations are slightly different, but are semi-easily changeable to
                match those of Gecko's.
        B. Whereas Gecko codes custom data to load from the SD card, Riivolution actually
tricks the Wii into thinking that the SD card is replacing the files in the actual
                CD.
        C. Because of B, I'm pretty sure BrawlEx can't work with Riivolution, since BrawlEx
doesn't replace files from the original game. At least, I don't
                think it does.
        D. Because of B, Riivolution can replace any file in the game
without codes, whereas Gecko can't replace all unless with codes.
For example, Gecko can't defaultly replace THP's, if I remember correctly.
        E. Because of B, you must save snapshots to the Wii and then in normal Brawl copy
it to the SD card if you're using Riivolution, whereas with Gecko, you can just
directly save them to your SD card.

3. I have a .gct here with the unrestricted camera, the Pokemon Trainer individual slots, and the Zero-Suit Samus and Zelda/Sheik individual slots, if that's what you're looking for: http://1drv.ms/14i2aSl (http://1drv.ms/14i2aSl)

P.S. Riivolution uses .gcts, so the .gct there would work with Riivolution, so maybe BrawlEx could theoretically work, with some gct codes.

Thanks you two for answer my questions :) , maybe i'll stick with Riivolution and learn how to do a simple PSA edit to buff some characters (for example if an attack makes 10% of damage increase it to 15%) is there a thread or tutorial that shows how to do this?

And about the gct actually i know how to use GCTEdit the thing is that this program only decompiled 32% of my gct so there are codes that im not using and some that i use mixed in the UnkownCodes part, that's why i need all the codes listed
