In the past i've worked with the Smash Workshop Back Room designing stage mods for various brawl hacks (a list for my B+ work can be found here (http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=260492)). This thread, however, is to showcase some of my casual/non-stage mod related work.

This stage is pretty straight forward, flat with the fence acting as walls/partitions between the main battlefield and and area outside. I've removed the overhanging branches that existed in the original model as well as added in a custom background (created by my roommate, 4Leaf on SWF). I've also made custom collisions for the stage so that the wall can be stood on/act as an actual wall. This stage goes over WWR. Would like to congratulate Gamewatching on his original version of this stage (i actually used it as a starting point). The original release by GW was... well it was not of the quality i was expecting (really don't want to make you feel bad, but it wasn't that great...). Because of that i took it upon myself to fix up his stage and give it the quality that a stage like this deserves. On top of new textures, i have remodeled the entire stage to reflect the original more accurately. New collisions, new layout, pretty much new everything. This stage plays as close to the 64 version as i can manage with brawl's physics. I'm not done with this stage yet, however, gameplay-wise it won't change in future updates so i decided to release it now. Note that this WILL de-sync over wifi with Gamewatching's version. As you can see, Popo is sporting a green plaid parka similar in color to my own shirt. Nana, on the other hand is wearing a brown plaid parka due to how the two colors come together so well (and brown being my second favorite color). I personally find this to be a good IC texture as unlike most others available you can easily differentiate the two climbers (which if you play ICs can be a big deal at times). Additionally, the blue is now a softer color, which is aesthetically pleasing on the eye. The original color for nana was more of a sepia tone, but when put next to my Plaid ICs texture it looked like a more washed out version of nana's brown color (which i felt didn't give the texture a unique enough feel). I've now swapped out the texture for my darker version. Thanks to standardtoaster for talking me through color ideas. I'm really happy with how this looks (especially moreso than the last one), more refined. Reminds me a bit of the old orange texture from melee, but with a more fitting red color. Easy on the eyes as well as being able to differentiate between the two climber makes this a nice texture, as well as being team friendly. The camera is way messed up to the point that you can't see the top of the floating rock or anything even slightly off the sides of the desk. anyway, i'm going to work fully on DL64 now, with the possibility of a side project involving PS1 if the test i made up doesn't crash. i recently figured out how to change the size of the tree/get 64-esque platforms. once i get the size/layout to be right i'll get to work on the exta stuff on the stage. once DL64 has been completed, i'll them move on to the test stages from 64. also, i have SSS icons for SSB64 Intro, as well as Saffron City (mewtwo_2000 too good). i'll post them later. now, before i post these, i first want to commend gamewatching for his amazing work with the vertex edits on this stage and for attempting to construct this beast of a remake. all models in these pics are the originals in the brawlvault download (i actually removed one of the walkway platforms). the final release will include more "blocky" crystals among many other adjustments. in respect to gamewatching wishes (and due in part to my own slow progression with this project) i'm going to wait till the current version has had sufficient time to circulate to ensure that both sufficient credit is given to the original creator and so i don't feel rushed to get through the anyway, lets do a comparison between the two. Current version: (http://img269.imageshack.us/img269/5629/rsbe01180.png) My WIP version: (http://i367.photobucket.com/albums/oo120/AmericanHobo333/Untitled_2.png?t=1278301825) (http://i367.photobucket.com/albums/oo120/AmericanHobo333/Untitled-7.png?t=1278301824) I'm going to point out some differences in case they aren't immediately obvious. for one, the base walkway plats are using the original top/side textures for the 64 version. additionally, i've increased/edited the length to match the original more accurately. finally, the floating platform has been edited so that not only is the center smaller, but the grating now appears to be floating around it in-game. finally, i've updated the grating texture for the floating platform as well as the background pieces. there are, of course, other minor edits, but they don't ultimately have the same impact on the visuals (yet) as these points. anyway, this is just a teaser; i'm still working on DL64 (got the original textures tonight :D) so you can expect that to be released before this one. Just change the frame count from 119 to 120. I don't know why it's like that or why it doesn't work, but adding a frame solved it.

in non-stage related news, i'm not loving my current red IC texture. it doesn't feel on par with my first 2 and thats bothering me. so, at the end of this month i'm going to take it down and (hopefully) have a new one to put up in its place. however, i don't actually have any ideas for a red IC texture. therefore, i'm going to pose a small contest: give me a theme/idea for my new red IC texture. winner gets a specialized version of the texture for their personal use on top of being credited in the brawlvault post (as well as the possibility of other, more prestigious prizes). the contest will go through to the last friday of the month which is when i'll make my decision on the best idea. the winner will be announced saturday and the texture by that sunday (august 1). one idea per entrant. all submissions should be sent to my PM box. if i fail to get any entrants, then the current texture will still be taken down and i will come up with a new idea on my own at a later date. for those that do decide to enter, best of luck to you. 1) collisions are wonky. now that i've moved it to the GGs pac (thanks chuy) the left platform's collision is stretched and connected to the right ledge. it looks fine in bbox, but acts odd in-game. 2) the tree won't move to the "blow" animation. it blinks and does its full idle animation but it never does any of its other animations, hence no wind. its odd that it would only do one animation and not any others. On top of new textures, i have remodeled the entire stage to reflect the original more accurately. New collisions, new layout, pretty much new everything. This stage plays as close to the 64 version as i can manage with brawl's physics. I'm not done with this stage yet, however, gameplay-wise it won't change in future updates so i decided to release it now. Note that this WILL de-sync over wifi with Gamewatching's version. Because of this, i'm afraid that i won't be able to finish my Dreamland 64 in a timely fashion. Keep i mind, this stage is NOT the finished version, for textures or layouts. Its currently set up to accommodate P:M physics, so when playing in brawl it will probably feel off. another thing to note is that wispy will not blow wind. hopefully i'll be able to fix this when i come back to brawl stage hacking, but for now its just not available. :( Anyway, this will hopefully tide you over until i can come back and finish up my work on this long overdue stage. enjoy. Everything is pretty much in place at this point and will just come down to getting some CSS Portraits done. Once I've completed this I hope to move onto another character and make some custom textures for him/her. Right now I'm considering Link and Diddy. I also have a G&W texture set that I'll release at some point with CSS Portraits as well. Finally, I'll be including some bonus content with this pack. Nothing I releases should desync on wifi, so you're good to go on download. Hopefully will have this done by tomorrow night at latest.
