Title: Setting up brawlex Post by: Flaya on April 08, 2016, 04:08:32 AM So I found a brawlex pack, nebulons to be precise. Got it extracted, put on my sdhc all according to his instructions in the txt.
Only thing is, it does not launch. I use a NTSC backup from my HDD (usually play via USB loader gx) and have been playing project m without issues. I have a softmodded Wii and as I said I can launch project m without issue by just launching brawl from USB loader. I tried launching brawlex from both USB loader and the homebrew launcher, but it does not work. According to the txt that comes with this pack, it's as easy as unpack to SD card and launch the game. Anyone have any ideas? Title: Re: Setting up brawlex Post by: Ebola16 on April 08, 2016, 04:27:33 AM Just to clarify, is the game crashing when starting Brawl with Nebulon's pack or is it simply ignoring Nebulon's pack?
Title: Re: Setting up brawlex Post by: Flaya on April 08, 2016, 05:06:46 AM It returns me to Wii menu.
Sorry for not mentioning that before. As Usb launcher gx has been updated since nebulons 3.7 release, I even tried putting the latest version of it in the same card, but it still gives the same result. I put the exact steps follwed in spoiler. I use a 8GB card, so it's just the last part that applies. Title: Re: Setting up brawlex Post by: Ebola16 on April 08, 2016, 05:55:08 AM That is unusual.
Can you post screenshots of the root of your SD card and /codes folder? Also, is Brawl's hooktype set to AXNextFrame (In the "settings" option when you click on Brawl's channel/disc in USB Loader GX. There should be a "start" option next to "settings")? Title: Re: Setting up brawlex Post by: Flaya on April 08, 2016, 06:17:39 AM (http://imgur.com/A26mRce)
(http://imgur.com/WnkNEoU) Yes it is set to Avnextframe. Seems imgur does not work for pics tho. Is there another way to post them? Ah, just right-click and open in new tab. :) Title: Re: Setting up brawlex Post by: Ebola16 on April 08, 2016, 06:21:30 AM Just paste the direct links from Imgur and I can click on them.

I took pieces from Nebulon's pack so I didn't use it as downloaded but my next guess is that one of those .gct files will match your setup. RSBE01.gct is the only .gct that is read so the others are most likey for different setups. Make a copy of your codes folder somewhere in case something goes wrong while doing this. Try renaming one of the other .gct files to RSBE01.gct and see what happens when it's loaded. Do this for all .gct files and see if the results differ. Title: Re: Setting up brawlex Post by: Flaya on April 08, 2016, 06:40:03 AM Ok, I'll try. Will report back as soon as I've tested all .gct's.
Title: Re: Setting up brawlex Post by: Ebola16 on April 08, 2016, 06:43:40 AM I should also mention, Nebulon's pack is set up for a NTSC-U (primarily USA) version of Brawl. Brawlex is not compatible with other regions (as far as I know)
Title: Re: Setting up brawlex Post by: Flaya on April 08, 2016, 06:45:20 AM Ok, I use NTSC-U
Title: Re: Setting up brawlex Post by: Ebola16 on April 08, 2016, 06:49:32 AM Hmm... this is definitely unusual. Hopefully one of those .gcts will at least make a difference.
Title: Re: Setting up brawlex Post by: Flaya on April 08, 2016, 07:22:30 AM Well none of the gct's worked. My sd card is a Verbatim card and works with everything else, but not brawlex.
Perhaps the pack is bad? Is there another extract and run pack around with loads of characters? That's really the only reason I want it, because I want more chars to choose from. Title: Re: Setting up brawlex Post by: Ebola16 on April 08, 2016, 07:48:42 AM I know that pack does have some issues with certain characters but if it wasn't starting up a lot more people would likely be posting about it.
Next idea, try backing up then replacing these 3 files with the ones in this download (config.dat and gameconfig.txt go in the root of the SD card, RSBE01.gct goes in /codes): http://www.mediafire.com/download/84qowtcc954b4bd/Neb+Test.rar (http://www.mediafire.com/download/84qowtcc954b4bd/Neb+Test.rar) If that doesn't work you can restore the backed up files from Nebulon's pack. Further testing will become more complicated. It is possible that the problem may actually be on your Wii with Ocarina codes. Are you able to use Ocarina codes with any other game (loading Project M through P:M loader doesn't count since a different hooktype is initially used)? Alternatively, you could try loading this Brawlex pack https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=49MYbK7hlT0 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=49MYbK7hlT0) onto your SD card. It's configured to work with a non-SDHC card so that would be best to use with this pack. You can make it SDHC compatible if you add this code to the .gct http://forums.kc-mm.com/index.php?topic=65342.0 (http://forums.kc-mm.com/index.php?topic=65342.0) Title: Re: Setting up brawlex Post by: Flaya on April 08, 2016, 07:55:12 AM Ok, I'll try it out.
Yes Ocarina codes works flawless otherwise. The pack you linked is not available. Title: Re: Setting up brawlex Post by: Ebola16 on April 08, 2016, 08:20:24 AM Wow. Ok then there's always this one http://forums.kc-mm.com/Gallery/BrawlView.php?Number=210784 (http://forums.kc-mm.com/Gallery/BrawlView.php?Number=210784)
Use the 4GB version as I'm not sure if the 2GB version has the SDHC code in it. Title: Re: Setting up brawlex Post by: Flaya on April 08, 2016, 08:59:16 AM Seems the vault is having issues. I get the dl link from mediafire, but it just sits there, not downloading.
Post Merge: April 08, 2016, 01:31:41 PM I've been trying to get the file for a few hours now, but it goesas far as 46% then breaks. Will try again tomorrow, as it seems that there is something that's not playing right with downloading today. Title: Re: Setting up brawlex Post by: Ebola16 on April 08, 2016, 09:57:31 PM I use mediafire for my links too but it does have issues on rare occasions.
Title: Re: Setting up brawlex Post by: Flaya on April 09, 2016, 12:11:15 AM Yes. I managed to get it about about an hour ago, but it gives me black screen when launching. I tried different hook types, but the best result was from default vbi where I got to the roster screen before freezing with an annoying beeeeep....
Title: Re: Setting up brawlex Post by: Ebola16 on April 09, 2016, 01:13:17 AM Not what I was expecting at all...
So you successfully loaded Project M through USB Loader GX. Did you change anything else other than the files on the SD card and Gecko's hooktype? What is the format of your SDHC card? It should be FAT32. Title: Re: Setting up brawlex Post by: Flaya on April 09, 2016, 01:48:40 AM Yes Project M loads fine. Didn't change anything else. Format is FAT32 32kb.
Is there perhaps something else I need or need to do before using Brawlex builds? Or am I correct in assuming that it's just a matter of putting the files on the SD card? I tried starting from scratch with reformatting the card and installing the things one by one, but I get the same result. Title: Re: Setting up brawlex Post by: Ebola16 on April 09, 2016, 02:28:53 AM Try running the pack using the included project m launcher included in the 4GB download. It should be available through the homebrew channel if you use the included apps folder. You'll need to use the actual disk for it though. I just want to see if this fails too. I believe it uses a VBI hook initially and switches to AXNextFrame after that.
Title: Re: Setting up brawlex Post by: Flaya on April 09, 2016, 02:39:58 AM It runs great using the original disc.
Re-ripped it to make sure I got a 100% working copy. md5 matches. So it's not an issue with my backup. Title: Re: Setting up brawlex Post by: Ebola16 on April 09, 2016, 02:47:59 AM Now we're getting somewhere. Does it work with the original disc using both Project M's loader and the Ocarina homebrew app?
Title: Re: Setting up brawlex Post by: Flaya on April 09, 2016, 02:54:06 AM Yes it does. And I'm downloading the Legacy 1.3 pack to see if that works. Just to eliminate the faulty pack suspect. :)
Well it gives the same results. Don't have a 2GB card to try anything but the sdhc packs, otherwise I'd try that too.. Is there a way to run it from USB? Like if I put my backup and the brawlex pack on a seperate stick and use that? Title: Re: Setting up brawlex Post by: Ebola16 on April 09, 2016, 03:05:13 AM Ok, so the last Brawlex pack you downloaded worked outside of USB Loader GX.
The next most likely problem is with USB Loader GX settings. Replacing the usbloader_gx folder in /apps with a default one may solve the problem after reconfiguring it. It's possible some setting got inadvertently changed. The other possibility is a custom IOS was installed that's either extremely outdated or partially incompatible with USB Loader GX's Ocarina loader. If a reset of USB Loader GX doesn't work it may be better to post on a USB Loader GX forum since the problem seems to be confined to USB Loader GX now. Post Merge: April 09, 2016, 03:14:14 AM I use USB Loader GX with Brawlex so it's definitely possible but a dedicated USB Loader GX forum would be better for troubleshooting issues than my suggestions. Especially since installation methods have changed since I installed it. Title: Re: Setting up brawlex Post by: Flaya on April 09, 2016, 03:25:19 AM Great, thank you for your help. :)
Will conduct further research and if I manage to figure it out, I'll make sure to post back how. :) |
