Title: Help with SSPs
Post by: Chuy on May 15, 2010, 09:40:44 PM
Yeah anyway ever since i added the stage portraits for fourside and mushroom kingdom all i get is the beep of doom and i've tried importing the files as different types like .png and .tga but it hasn't worked
Suggestion?

I think there is a file size limit for sc_selmap.pac but im not sure how big it can be. You should try the sc_selmap in BeyondYou's portrait thread its a little smaller. Another thing you could do is replace the text in MiscData 60 and 70 with question marks. And I don't think you should be using .tga.

Hmm... i'll try that
I generally use .tga file foir SSPs when i get a freeze because generally it helps fix the freezing well at least for me
Yep it was the filesize fixed noa thanks!

Indexing the SSPs you put in, or heavily indexing the icons generally works like a charm also.

i dont think there is a limit since i have a SSP made for 90% of my stages.

make sure the big portraits are 176x176

make sure the small ones are 64x56 and are indexed

is that all u edited? did u edit stage names as well?

For a small tip, you can keep the semi-transparency that's present on the stage select portraits.  Also, reducing the maximum number of colors that the portrait uses helps too.

okay ran into this problem again when adding a couple of portraits
i found out about that 2 different portraits for some stages i'm using are making it sky rocket in file size so is there any way to make it not to do that and is there any other ways to make the filesize smaller?
