Title: Unexpected error?
Post by: FinalSoraRiku on July 17, 2009, 09:20:35 AM
Ok, I indexed my texture and went to create the texture, but this showed up:

UNEXPECTED ERROR:  This texture has erroneous colors!

I was editing the boot strap, and that happened.

Hex it or follow VILE's ASH guide. Or upload it so I can try to fix it.

Also, I am a Kingdom Hearts Fan too. But Final Fantasy is better lol. =)

Thx, I'll look at it.

EDIT: Uh, it didn't say anything that helped with the problem...

Vile's Guide shows you how to index. therefore helping you iwht your little problem. If you still have trouble then look up some guides about Indexing.

Try backing up all your folders, then re extracting the .pac file in ASH, then pasting your folders back in there.

That usually fixes the problem for me. If it doesn't work, i have 1 more thing you can try.

Ok, I'll try that, but I'm using GIMP, btw (that probably has something to do with it)

yes, gimp can only index textures with a 256 color limit. anything else won't work.

this also happened to me, and some tga files have an even lower color limit.  It should say the limit when you go to say y or n

Gimp doesnt index +1 and +2 textures properly. Only PS can.

At least it works with some items.
EDIT: I got PS and indexed it, but I get the same error!  At least I'll be making some textures (and release them) now.

is it a +1 or +2 and you have to index it to what it says in cmd.

for plus two. you have to add magenta to make it trabsparent.

Not completely true.  Try editing Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong.  Even though all of their indexed textures use a maximum of 256 colors, not all of them will work with The GIMP; you can edit them there, but you need Photoshop to index them properly.
