Title: A Little Problem with Vertex Hacking...
Post by: SiLeNtDo0m on June 13, 2010, 01:24:30 AM
Ok so I was trying to vertex hack Yoshi's hands so that they would be more like claws.  I followed the steps of this video tutorial perfectly: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_zZUss7H5Ck

But in Brawlbox, instead of showing the hands being extruded out, it just shows a load of random polygons on the body flying out in random directions.  I think it has something to do with Anim8tor since when I did a vertex hacking process in 3Ds Max without Anim8tor the vertex hack worked fine (reason I don't just use 3Ds Max though is 1) I have the trial version which doesn't last much longer and 2) I am more familiar with Blender.

So basically question is: Is there any way to vertex hack in Blender WITHOUT using Anim8tor?

As far as I know, you need 3ds max + anim8tor, or Blender + anim8tor.
Why don't you just download anim8tor? It's free and you're sure that your hack will work...

also, moved to Help section

Err I do have Anim8tor and that's the reason why it isn't working properly.  For me by the looks of it Anim8tor causes graphical errors to happen.

Are you using 3DS Max or Blender?

If you have 3DS then you don't need Anim8or. Besides some people who use Blender get this problem but there are things you can't edit in 3DS that you can in other things.

If you're used to Blender more and you get errors importing through anim8or, get 3ds Max just so you can import the .obj into it and export it as a .3ds, and forget about anim8or.

I haven't actually tried this, but I'm pretty sure it should work.
