Title: Music by SD side effect
Post by: Oizen on August 11, 2009, 08:12:23 PM
I was playing on Green Hill Zone and I changed the Song Sonic Boom to a different song. I wondered what would happen if I removed the SD card. So I did.

The original Sonic Boom start playing only it sounded high pitch. and after it played it went to Super Sonic Racing.
then it started echoing.
and so on.
lol

Does it still happen after you restart?

Seems to happen with some songs.

I have wildlands (Yoshi's Island) replaced and all of sudden it starts playing 'Beat it' in fast forward. Which is strange since Beat it is replacing SSB Credit on FD. It plays that for a while and then goes back to normally playing my replaced song but after a minute or so it happens again.

Sounds hilarious I think I don't want it fixed xD

Same happened to be. Assault's Katina theme (which replaces Break Through the Ice) suddenly screeched and switched over to Convenience Store (which replaces the Ioshi's Story Ending theme), and when I attempted to exit the (offline) match, my game froze. xD

I use custom music for the menu theme. when I removed the SD card there, I got scared.

I don't fear the consequences   :>.>:

I have multiple SD cards so I'm set. And I got copies of whats on the SD cards on my computer so I'm doubly safe.  :kdance:

Lol what did it do to you?

So far I've had no troubles with mine. Mine may be an old clunker of a laptop but it gets the job done.

It died on me, and I'm on this computer, and waiting for my package to arrive to gather everything I need here.

This glitch has been known for a little while now. Because the header of each song only gets loaded once when it begins, hot-swapping a song will cause it to play with the other song's header. One part of the header controls the sampling rate of the song, so if one song's header has a high sampling rate and another song has a low sampling rate, the second song will play at the high rate that the first song played at. The same occurs for the length. If one is longer than the other, than it's likely to play past the end of the song causing it to read into whichever song is next stored on the disk.

Ordinarily it doesn't happen too often unless you purposefully remove the SD card, but it's been reported to happen automatically with songs that have a high sampling rate.

This happened to me when I used a rock version of the menu theme, I took it out to change some textures and it just skipped oddly while playing the regular theme. When I put it back in, it was fine though.

When I heard the Final Destination Theme sped up, I was like "MP3 pl0x?"

Funnily enough, I think we had the exact same experience and even more, the same replaced theme. ;D

Is it "Let's Brawl" by Tonindo, by any chance ? 8D
