Title: Official Sephiroth PSA/Move Set Thread

Alright, I was told to start up a new thread for the Sephiroth PSA since the s o u l z e r o can't work on it anymore. So far, the only members are myself, ShadowMarth, and Pein0Akatsuki. Since our team is still so small, we could use all the help we can get. If you want to join the team, just tell me what you want to work on and I'll talk to Sumire about adding you.

So far, BigBadBooya already helped us out with the Final Smash. I do think it needs to be weaker and have less range but the visuals are awesome. The only thing left for his Final Smash that would make him perfect is letting him fly around for a little bit with his wing either after he uses the smash or while he's holding the smash ball.

Special Traits / Other:
Marth's countering pose could make for a pretty good basic standing pose for Sephiroth. Is it possible to have him walk while holding his sword like this too?

This could be a good run for him:

Some of Sephiroth's smash attacks could be cool with Ganondorf's shadow effects.

Sephiroth has ridiculous range with most of his attacks, including his grabs. That is the entire point of him. To keep him from being broken, maybe he'll have a tip property like Marth, where the whole middle section of his sword deals very little damage and has very little stunning capabilities.

Sephiroth will have three jumps, allowing him to perform better in the air.

His fall speed should be somewhat slow and floaty, like Melee Mewtwo's. However, pressing down allows him to fall much faster.

Rolling out of his shield could be a teleportation thing, with as much distance as Melee Mewtwo's roll.

If possible, it would be nice for him to be able to both wall-jump and wall-cling. I'm sure this is not possible, but being able to run up walls would be pretty badass too.

Weak Attacks:
A Combo
A series of slashes.

Forward Tilt
Sephiroth performs a series of attacks with his sword, his fists, and his legs. Like a cross between Ike's Neutral A combo and Snake's Forward Tilt combo. The last strike of this will be the only one with significant knockback.

Up Tilt
Sephiroth swings his sword to shoot out some rather weak air blades diagonally up. This will play very similarly to the CoN Naruto PSA's Kunai attack. Marth's Up Tilt animation would work well for this.

Down Tilt
Ike's Down Tilt would probably be fine, as long as the range in increased.

Running A
Maybe kind of like Marth's.

Allows you to lead into some of your A combos, like so:

Smash Attacks:
Forward Smash
Sephiroth performs a slash similar to Link's Forward Smash animation. But the longer you charge this, the more strikes he performs, which could end up looking a lot like Marth's full Forward B combo, except that he would travel a further distance while attacking. This attack can have Ganondorf's shadow effect.

Up Smash
Pretty much the same as Ike's, just faster and weaker. Fast enough so that his Up Tilt can sometimes set the opponent up for it.

Down Smash
Sephiroth holds his sword up and stabs it into the ground. Very similar to Ike's Neutral B, even the animation can be the same. But instead of fire, there can be that green lifestream stuff, with bits of earth/rocks cracking up, kind of like this:

Of course, this gif is of what his Aerial Down A should be, but the effect is the same.

Specials:
Neutral B
Sephiroth summons a meteor that shoots diagonally down. The longer you charge, the greater distance the meteor travels. For example, just tap B, and it comes down right in front of you. Charge it for a bit, and it comes down like in this gif:

If performed in the air, there is no charge up, and it shoots out a bunch of weaker meteors.

Forward B
Maybe something like Zelda's Forward B. You will control a little shiny thing, but when you let go, it will explode into shadowy spheres.

Up B
Extremely similar to Lucario's. Sephiroth enters a flying state that lasts maybe a second. There will be a brief start-up time where you choose the initial direction you want to go in. You can also attack out of it and use whatever remaining jumps you have afterwards.

Down B
Sephiroth summons a giant pillar of fire around him. The longer you charge, the more pillars there will be, with a maximum of three (the second pillar will be in front of him, the third will be in back). These pillars pull the opponent toward them and keep the opponent trapped for a second or two while burning him (like Ness' PK Fire). Good at racking up damage, but little knockback. Maybe Ho-oh or Entai's fire could work for this (though obviously much weaker than either).

Grabs:
Grab
Sephiroth pulls his sword back then thrusts it in a given direction (Forward, Up, Diagonally Up, or Diagonally Down), impaling the enemy. This will have a slow start-up time, like Samus', giving the player a chance to choose which direction he will stab in. Marth's Neutral B is a pretty perfect animation for this.

Aerial Grab
Works the same as his ground grab, but it will always stab upwards, and automatically fling the opponent downwards. This could be a good spiking move.

Pummel
Sephiroth twists his sword while the enemy is impaled.

Forward Throw
Sephiroth pulls his sword back and kicks the opponent off of it.

Back Throw
Sephiroth turns around and performs Marth's forward smash animation (or something like it), flinging the opponent off his sword.

Up Throw
Sephiroth flings his opponent upward off his sword.

Down Throw
Sephiroth slams his opponent into the ground, pulls his sword out of him, and then stabs him again.

Aerial Attacks:
Neutral A
Marth's Neutral A in the air could work fine for this. Just up the range.

Forward A
Sephiroth swings his sword downward, very much like Ike's Forward A in the air.

Back A
Marth's arial Back A should work fine, just with increased range.

Up A
Sephiroth rapidly stabs upwards. Little to no knockback, but good at racking up damage.

Down A
What Sephiroth does when he kills a certain someone. Think Toon Link's. It can even use Link's exact animation. One of his main killing moves. If he hits the ground with it, it can cause the earth to crack up and green lifestream stuff to come out.

Final Smash:
Sephiroth enters a state similar to Super Sonic, where he can fly around and perform his attacks (Unlike Sonic, just touching the opponent will not hurt them).

His Neutral B becomes a slash attack, and if you connect with it, it leads to a cinematic attack (similar to Captain Falcon's if possible) like this:

Also, I doubt this is possible, but if Sephiroth could grow a wing while in this mode, that would be badass.

Balancing phase comes normally afterthe creation of the PSA. It is easier to do this way.

Well for the up smash sephiroth could shoot the opponent up, disappear and FS smash them away. The final attack could be balanced of course to fit the controls.

-_- Basically he does something random to make the opponent fly straight up, vanishes, and reappears and attacks at the same time. He would use Marth's FS Critical Hit slash attack and animation with the power toned down. He slashes in the same direction he faces normally of course.

Unfortunately, I heard that Sumire won't be able to help us out with this after all. Since we have so few members right now, anybody who is interested in doing this is welcome to join the team.

Hopefully there is enough interest in getting this done that we can form some kind of team but if there isn't really interest in doing that, I can understand.

I am genuinely surprised that this hasn't already been done.  I mean, Cloud was done AGES ago and there have always been a few good vertexes for this guy so a PSA definately should've been done.

Well good luck with this project anyways!  I would help but I got a lot on my plate at the moment.  Viewtiful Joe has to take up my full PSA time.

Hack only applies when you actually change the game. You can make something completely random and it isn't a hack until put into the game.

I would have thought there would be a little more interest in giving Sephiroth a moveset. I have some animation experience in Maya from my classes at college but I haven't really done much with Brawlbox animations. I would love to help out in any way that I can. For now, I'll continue making vertex hacks though until this project gets officially rolling (if it ever actually does).

As for changing his Up Smash to his Up Throw, I have no objections to it if that's what everyone agrees on. Remember though, his grab is an impale so I think his current throw might look a little more natural from this position since he actually does it in the movie. To make things simpler to decide on, here's the two moves in discussion:

Current Up Smash

Maybe his Up Smash could be a two part hit like Link's where the first hit juggles his opponent in the air a bit with an uppercut/throw and the second hit smashes him/her upward? Just throwing out ideas here.

Yeah I'm really surprised that this isn't getting more attention than it has been getting.

1st Sergeant Lagoon, that would be great. I think that slow progress is much better than no progress at all. As long as this thing gets done eventually and we continue to make some kind of progress no matter how small it may be I'll be happy.

Anyways, thanks to everybody that posted here for all of your interest in this project. I'm still hoping that we can eventually get an official team together to make this a dedicated project but I really appreciate all of the work and consideration given so far :). If anybody wants me to add them to the Team section on the OP, just speak up and I'll be sure to add you.

Well anything that anybody is able to do would be greatly appreciated. Just to make things clear about who is doing what, just say what you want to work on and I'll add you. My ideas are still pretty much the same as they were in the opening post but I'd be more than willing to listen to any suggestions to make it even better :).

So I take it that people aren't really interested in the moveset ideas that I had? That's too bad, but I'm still looking forward to seeing a good Sephiroth PSA even if it's different from my original idea here. I'm hoping that there is still some interest in this version but I can understand if people would prefer to do their own thing.

Think something along the lines of taking Cloud Kong against Haloedhero's Cloud PSA.  Cloud Kong may not be a perfect representation of Cloud Strife v2.5 but it's close enough that you can see which one is better when playing them against one another.  I think that was what Ichig0ne1337 was getting at should both this Sephy PSA and Hollow's get finished and one got ported to another character.

Yea, I've actually noticed that with mine too.  Usually depends on the PSA.  Some of them my CPU's don't get at all but some of them the CPU really takes to and uses well.  But if you have another person to test the PSA's with it's a hell of a lot better.

It seems to me like a combination of his different representations but mostly I think it's Dissidia and Advent Children.  All I know is I can't wait to finally get a good Sephiroth vs Cloud battle!  Regardless of whether or not it's this Sephiroth or if it's Hollow's.

That would require finding the files for Rayquaza which have already been done for Olimar. You'll have to port it to Cloud and manage to get it in his animations and PSA without freezing since this is for Rayquaza, not Cloud.

What about one of his rolling foward smashes then? I think shadow flare would fit nicely into that spot.  And Quake3 would make a good down B.

here is a brawlifying suggestion:

A attacks: phisical attacks, at maximum it has magic on the hand of user, always close ranged, except sword wielders.
B attacks: magic, weapons, far ranged.

ive seen a lot of psa's where A attacks are stronger than specials, and that is so non-brawl...

but thats just my opinion.

Does he change direction depending on which direction you push? And can you make it so you stay in the air as long as you hold B and still you stay up for 10-15 seconds? Take damage as you fly after 5 seconds?

The closest thing I think is my Drako Yoshi.  That can fly similarly to Pit for a couple of seconds in the air.  There is one thing I need to change about it though and that is the fact that if you do an air dodge you can use it again XD

Hi everybody! I've been testing out Hollow's awesome Sephiroth PSA and I've got to say it's coming along really great so far. I was wondering if we're still doing two separate Sephiroth projects or if we're just sticking with Hollow's version. It would be cool if we continued on this one but I wouldn't mind too much if people are happy with Hollow's. Either way, even if we do decide to also do this one, I think Hollow's PSA could be an awesome starting point with his permission.

This.  Precisely this.  That's one of the problems I think with PSA.  In fact this is the fear I have with Viewtiful Joe.  I have a feeling that it won't do particularly amazing considering that the betas didn't do too great (although Beyond's vertex now has about 1k downloads which is reassuring).  It would be kinda disappointing, especially because of the fact that I've put a huge amount of work into it (roughly 4 months, seriously).

However, I can assure you that this Sephiroth will get loads of downloads.  Partly because of the fact that Sephiroth is so popular, and partly because of the fact that the people know Hollow can do great PSAs ;)

Hey I ain't rushing him and yes I agree with you.  I do think overall there arent enough balanced PSAs out there.  I know from personal experience that great PSAs with a good balance take time (but personally, I feel they are more rewarding).  I know that better than a lot of people.  Trust me on that one ;)

Why is Roy the clone of Marth? Couldn't Marth be the clone of Roy? They both are unlockable (so it's not like the case with Ganondorf meaning that Ganon is the clone and not CF because CF is available at the start), Melee was both of their start in the smash series. So why is it everyone says Roy is the clone?

For a few reasons
1) Marth's game came out before Roy's
2) In game, you unlock Marth before Roy
3) Marth is higher on the tier list than Roy

Can someone explain to me what is going on with the various Sephiroths....

There's Hollow's, which if I remember, wasn't as..... faithful as possible or something.... or broken or something...... iono..... @_@

And there's this one..... what is the current state of this PSA? Wasn't I, like, a part of this.... I still want to do PSA if someone else is animating.... >__<;; Unless something happened.... O_O What is going on...

This is theoriginal ideas for Sephiroth. There is no other PSA being made, except version 2, which I'm working on right now.

Hi, I'm comepletely new here, so I don't if my suggestions have any value to you, but: if you remember fighting Sephiroth on KH 2 he has an upward slash that knocks you into the air, this is usally followed by a teleport rush, but even just the upward strike might suffice for an upward smash. Disregard if this is a past issue.
