Title: Editing Mr. Resetti's Text
Post by: PAVGN on March 01, 2011, 06:35:05 PM
Does anybody know how to edit the text that appears when Mr. Resetti speaks? I looked through his Assist Trophy .pac file and didn't find anything that changed his text.

It's located in the MiscDatas in ItmResetsanParam.pac
Also, have anyone noticed AsfResetsanBrres.pac contains sound files?!

You have to export the miscdatas and edit (the right one) in a hex editor.

grraaAAAH [censored]! I know absolutely nothing about Hex editing! oh well. guess it makes sense, since sometimes his text is large or a different color.

Yeah, this one's a hard one... if you change the lenght of the text, you would have to change the offsets too D:
And the reason why this isn't supported by brawlbox is because it doesn't have a spesific format that's used alot. All it contains is offsets and the text on the places the offsets refer to.

I'm familiar with this kind of problem... It's the exact reason why I can't edit the text in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

Wait...the format is very similar to .msbin files... except the offsets starts on some kind of flags (I guess) and after about 2 digits (or more) the text starts...

EDIT: Maybe this is the same format as .msbin, just not fully supported... just a suggestion.

I will try to explain what ItmResetsanParam.pac contains.
I used the PAL file for reference...

MiscData[0](FileFlags 0) Contains the info for how Resetti works (don't know what to call it...)

MiscData[0](FileFlags 7680) Contains font files (I think, it has the 'RFNT' and such)

MiscData[0-5](FileFlags 5120) Contains the text, offsets and some extra things. The difference between the files is the languages.

The MiscDatas that use FileFlags 13056, 13312, 13568, 13824 and 14080 contains a format named 'BRAT', which I'm not sure what it does (reference for when the different messages appear?)

Not sure if this will be of some kind of help, but I wanted to post it :)

Last night I looked at ItmResetsanParam.pac, and I found that the first MiscData[1] contains the text for when he's talking. If what Sky Grounder says is true, then the other MiscData's contain the same thing in other languages. I'm going to try this out once I'm finished editing all the text I want to change.

On a related note, is there a code or someway I can have only one assist trophy always appear? It'll be very useful for getting Resetti to appear every time instead of going through dozens of other characters first.
