Title: Snoopy's Stuff - 10-20 Samurai Jack is released
Post by: Snoopy on March 08, 2011, 12:07:25 AM
To Do List (in no certain order):

Max (from Bomberman) on TL
updates to my first few vertexes (Bomberman and Adeline)

Previews

Bomberman V2
(http://img535.imageshack.us/img535/9181/bmv2.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/535/bmv2.jpg/)

the main thing to notice is the head is much less square.  that was the main thing i wanted to fix in the V2, along with the texture, which isn't completed.

Releases

Samurai Jack

http://forums.kc-mm.com/Gallery/BrawlView.php?Number=23346 (http://forums.kc-mm.com/Gallery/BrawlView.php?Number=23346)

wifi safe.  i edited all the faces, so he doesn't have just one static face.  i didn't edit the sword handle, because it exploded worse with each patch i did.  i even tried hand hexing the vertices into place, but still nothing.

GIR
(http://img716.imageshack.us/img716/4149/gir1h.png) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/716/gir1h.png/)

(http://img684.imageshack.us/img684/9130/gir2h.th.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/684/gir2h.jpg/)(http://img215.imageshack.us/img215/7676/gir4.th.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/215/gir4.jpg/)(http://img17.imageshack.us/img17/1714/gir3n.th.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/17/gir3n.jpg/)

http://forums.kc-mm.com/Gallery/BrawlView.php?Number=22550 (http://forums.kc-mm.com/Gallery/BrawlView.php?Number=22550)

so after a few exporting issues, and finally getting over my laziness of putting it off, GIR is finally released.  has 2 versions, regular GIR and serious GIR.

i would have included pigs over the Pikmin, but the game lagged every time i tried replacing them.  so GIR has just regular Pikmin.  and don't mind the legs so much, there was some major polygon stretching if i renamed the leg bones.  on the positive side, GIR should actually be wifi safe, since i didn't do any bone edits.

Munna
(http://img199.imageshack.us/img199/78/munna1.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/199/munna1.jpg/)

(http://img593.imageshack.us/img593/43/munna2.th.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/593/munna2.jpg/) (http://img405.imageshack.us/img405/5716/munna3.th.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/405/munna3.jpg/)

http://forums.kc-mm.com/Gallery/BrawlView.php?Number=22161 (http://forums.kc-mm.com/Gallery/BrawlView.php?Number=22161)

Munna is made from Ness's backpack.  not too sure where i got the idea from, but i liked it.  normals are nulled because it looked pretty bad otherwise.

Hitmonchan
(http://img850.imageshack.us/img850/9625/hitmonchan1.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/850/hitmonchan1.jpg/)

(http://img864.imageshack.us/img864/1899/hitmonchan2.th.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/864/hitmonchan2.jpg/)(http://img848.imageshack.us/img848/8841/hitmonchan3.th.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/848/hitmonchan3.jpg/)(http://img691.imageshack.us/img691/3334/hitmonchan4.th.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/691/hitmonchan4.jpg/)(http://img841.imageshack.us/img841/2756/hitmonchan5.th.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/841/hitmonchan5.jpg/)

http://forums.kc-mm.com/Gallery/BrawlView.php?Number=20136 (http://forums.kc-mm.com/Gallery/BrawlView.php?Number=20136)

i figured that having him just be on Little Mac may not please everyone, so i did a quick port to put him on Sheik as well so you can actually play with him, since it’s been done for a few other Little Mac vertexes before. it is a bit glitchy, but it is a one slot swap. both are included in the download.

Dual release, Dexter and Snoopy
(http://img52.imageshack.us/img52/6558/snoopyaddexter1.jpg) (http://img52.imageshack.us/i/snoopyaddexter1.jpg/)

Snoopy
http://forums.kc-mm.com/Gallery/BrawlView.php?Number=18520 (http://forums.kc-mm.com/Gallery/BrawlView.php?Number=18520)

Dexter
http://forums.kc-mm.com/Gallery/BrawlView.php?Number=18521 (http://forums.kc-mm.com/Gallery/BrawlView.php?Number=18521)

i had planned to vertex the Pikmin as well, but DasDonkeyBox kept giving me an error when trying to do so, so i figured i'd make 2 versions of each instead.  Joe Cool's glasses move around a little bit, but that's because of how i made the glasses.  for Dexter and Joe Cool both, i made the glasses out of Olimar's eyes, so i had to hex the eye bones to a different index so that the glasses would always be showing.  the problem is that i couldn't find a good bone to use so the glasses would sit still, but i found one that Dexter could use, but Joe Cool couldn't (the bone that attaches to Olimar's bag, since i used the bag as Snoopy's back spot).

V2 of Snoopy includes the Flying Ace and Woodstocks vertexed from the Yellow Pikmin on all the Pikmin in all 3 of the Snoopy files.

Animal Crosser v2
(http://img607.imageshack.us/img607/1715/acerv21.png) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/607/acerv21.png/)

(http://img847.imageshack.us/img847/1870/acerv22.th.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/847/acerv22.jpg/)
(http://img18.imageshack.us/img18/9558/acerv23.th.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/18/acerv23.jpg/)

http://forums.kc-mm.com/Gallery/BrawlView.php?Number=17780 (http://forums.kc-mm.com/Gallery/BrawlView.php?Number=17780)

the Animal Crosser!  now 75% more generic-ness!  modeled after the Gamecube version, so he has the viking helmet on.

Bomberman
(http://img195.imageshack.us/img195/4185/bomberman4.jpg) (http://img195.imageshack.us/i/bomberman4.jpg/)

(http://img717.imageshack.us/img717/6795/bomberman5.th.jpg) (http://img717.imageshack.us/i/bomberman5.jpg/)(http://img232.imageshack.us/img232/7835/bomberman3.th.jpg) (http://img232.imageshack.us/i/bomberman3.jpg/)(http://img200.imageshack.us/img200/3795/bomberman2.th.jpg) (http://img200.imageshack.us/i/bomberman2.jpg/)(http://img801.imageshack.us/img801/1246/bomberman1.th.jpg) (http://img801.imageshack.us/i/bomberman1.jpg/)

http://forums.kc-mm.com/Gallery/BrawlView.php?Number=17369 (http://forums.kc-mm.com/Gallery/BrawlView.php?Number=17369)

tired of not having a good Bomberman vertex on TL, i decided to make my own.
has renamed bones, so it will desync wifi.

Adeline
(http://img29.imageshack.us/img29/1863/adeline1.jpg) (http://img29.imageshack.us/i/adeline1.jpg/)

(http://img824.imageshack.us/img824/8494/adeline3.th.jpg) (http://img824.imageshack.us/i/adeline3.jpg/)(http://img43.imageshack.us/img43/8375/adeline2.th.jpg) (http://img43.imageshack.us/i/adeline2.jpg/)(http://img715.imageshack.us/img715/3175/adeline4.th.jpg) (http://img715.imageshack.us/i/adeline4.jpg/)(http://img687.imageshack.us/img687/5607/adeline5.th.jpg) (http://img687.imageshack.us/i/adeline5.jpg/)

http://forums.kc-mm.com/Gallery/BrawlView.php?Number=17370 (http://forums.kc-mm.com/Gallery/BrawlView.php?Number=17370)

Adeline has been on a few people's to-do lists, but never gets done.  so i got tired of waiting, and made her myself.  i wish i could actually texture decently, because the face still seems a bit Toon Link-ish to me.  but i've worked on her long enough, and want to move on.  i'll probably update her later, but she's good for now.
has renamed bones, so it will desync wifi.

so enjoy, and expect more to come.  i'll try to keep my vertexes wifi safe, because i know a lot of people play on wifi.  i don't (lack of a usable wireless connection), so i don't care, but i'll try to avoid bone edits.  i'm obviously not doing a good job so far...

oh, and check my Vault for other stuff i've done (it's not much, and it's all old, but it's still good in my opinion).

So the "Model Swap Master and Pot King" has returned with vertexes!  Bomberman looks freakin awesome.  I love his head.  It's so square :af:

Though I think the texture could be a little less "flat".  Just a minor criticism.

Yes. That's the best version of Bomberman I've seen.

Definitely. I love that it's finally on Toon Link.

thanks guys, good to see you like them.  i didn't realize how easy vertexing can be, most people make it sound rather hard, but it's not.  now if only i could say the same for texturing...

but here's the next vertex i'm making

since i gave up on using his model to make a full character out of (too glitchy and i couldn't make the tools work right), i decided it would be easier to make a vertex of the Animal Crosser.

after i'm done with him, i'll probably make a poll or something for what i do next.  i have a lot of ideas, just not sure which to do first.

Good!

Title: Re: Snoopy's Stuff - Animal Crosser and a poll of what i should do next
Post by: Snoopy on March 26, 2011, 12:55:00 PM
Animal Crosser is out!  it doesn't look as good as i was hoping, but i couldn't move Ness's mouth without it freaking out at me, but other than that (and maybe the head being a bit rounder), i think it's pretty good.  and yes, the bat is the shovel.  he was also going to have regular hair, but the shading on the hat was being stupid, so i just left it as a hat.  and i was also going to make the bat into the net, the fishing rod, and the axe, but i got a bit lazy/busy, so the shovel is all i did.  and since it is the Animal Crosser, it's fine with me if you edit it, and i almost expect some retextures (just because mine isn't the best), but if you put it in the Vault, at least just credit me.

as for the poll, i'll be doing them all anyways, but i'd like to know which one i should do first.  as for how i got the ideas, this is how.
one popular but never could work model swap was Kat and Ana over the ICers, so i'd think it's be a good one to do.
for Poppy Bros Jr on TL, almost all the same reasons as making TL into Bomberman, right proportions, infinite bombs, but this time i wouldn't have to edit the hat, which would be nice.
with Dexter on Olimar (yes, Dexter from Dexter's Laboratory, the old cartoon show), i'm not entirely sure how i got the idea, but i got thinking about it, and the proportion size is about right, but then what sold me was the thought to make the Pikmin into robots.
Leafeon on Ivysaur, and/or other Eeveelutions, i picked Leafeon first not only because of the correct proportions, but also because of the type matching.  but i say and/or the others because they're all about the same, and once i get a decent base, i could rather quickly make them all (or so i assume right now, i haven't looked at Ivy's verts yet).
about Professor Oak on the Poke Trainer, it's about time he shows these kids how to win with Pokemon.
and Hitmonchan on Little Mac, another failed model swap attempt that i would think is still wanted.

so if you actually read all that, take a cookie and a drink.  but you can see kinda what i look for in a potential vertex candidate.  i look for correct proportions first, then a possible moveset match.  i realize that moves can be changed to match a model, but if it doesn't have to be done, that's all the more reason to do it my way.  like Leafeon and Hitmonchan, correct proportions and matching moveset, it's just that much better and convincing that it should have been that way to begin with.

Nice work on the Animal Crossing Boy ;)  I voted for Dexter just to see the little robots.  I think they should all be different colours and sizes though, to correspond with each Pikmin.

I never ask for much, and whenever I do, it's not for much, so..... I DEMAND FOR EEVEE ON IVYSAUR!!!!

If you'd be so kind. I kid, I kid. But eevee on Ivysaur would be nice...

The Animal Crossing Boy is amazing. The hands look a little weird but I guess there's nothing you can do about that.

Post by: Snoopy on March 26, 2011, 09:35:38 PM
thanks guys, i'm glad it worked out as well as it did, even with some of the textures having to be resized a lot (the shirt mainly, it went from a 32x32 to about 100x100).  i'm slowly re-discovering my photoshopping skills, because the hat not only has the 3 main colors (orange, blue, lighter orange), but also has others as well, thus making it not as flat texture wise.  now if i could say the same for the shorts...  and the Animal Crossers hands are a little weird looking probably because of the way i made them, i just shrunk all the fingers down and made that the end.  i think that's why, but the shading is a bit weird because of it.  i did the same thing with Bomberman, but i (accidentally) found out that TL doesn't have arms beneath his sleeves, so i just rotated the hands by 180 degrees, and put the shrunken end into the sleeve.

anyways, when i do Dexter (depending on what the poll says), i'll do like SDoom said, and do different colors and sizes of robots so you'll know which Pikmin you're using.

and Adiron, don't worry, Eevee will be included with the Eeveelutions.

as for the poll, i forgot to mention, it'll close in about a week.  i'll work on some of my other unfinished stuff between now and then.  and like i said, i'm going to do everything in the poll, it's just that this will help decide the order they are worked on.  maybe after i make a few, i'll put in some other options in.  i have a small list labeled 'possibilities', as in they could work, but i'm not too confident they would.

Title: Re: Snoopy's Stuff - poll done, doing Dexter next, and a preview of something else
Post by: Snoopy on April 04, 2011, 12:09:42 PM
alright, poll is closed.  i'll be doing Dexter first, then Kat and Ana, then Leafeon and the other Eeveelutions.  i can already see how Dexter will work out vertex wise, and if it goes as i see it, it will be awesome.  but one question, should i keep the backpack, or not?  i'm thinking not, but i'm not sure.

and sorry for not saying anything earlier, but i stayed off the internet for April Fools day, and i was gone for the weekend.  and the poll was tied between Dexter and Kat and Ana, so i let it go a little longer.

but i kept myself busy while the poll was going.

yes, it's Snoopy from the old Peanuts comics.  and yes, that's where my screen name came from.  and also yes, he's on Olimar.  and also yes again,  i'll be making the Pikmin into Woodstocks.  i'll work on Dexter now, but i'll work a bit on Snoopy as well, and hopefully have them both out soonish, possibly a duel release.

I might even bring back Olimar as a character (he's replaced by Naruto atm).
Keep up the good work

Snoopy looks awesome. As for Dexter, I say release a version with the backpack and one without It. The version with the backpack could have the backpack Dexter had in the Dodgeball episode.

Snoopy!!

I remember when I was little I had like 2 or 3 stuffed doll snoopys that I would always play with.

With that said, this is an insta download when it's finished.
I'll be sure to keep track or your work now, especially because of Bomberman. :)

Title: Re: Snoopy's Stuff - Nostalgia Attack! it's Super Effective! Dexter and Snoopy out
Post by: Snoopy on April 29, 2011, 12:06:29 PM
i'm not dead yet!  Snoopy and Dexter are both released!

so, a few things about them, i had planned to vertex the Pikmin as well, but DasDonkeyBox kept giving me an error when trying to do so, so i figured i'd make 2 versions of each instead.
Joe Cool's glasses move around a little bit, but that's because of how i made the glasses.
for Dexter and Joe Cool both, i made the glasses out of Olimar's eyes, so i had to hex the eye bones to a different index so that the glasses would always be showing.  the problem is that i couldn't find a good bone to use so the glasses would sit still, but i found one that Dexter could use, but Joe Cool couldn't (the bone that attaches to Olimar's bag, since i used the bag as Snoopy's back spot).
the noses on both may look a little weird, but that's because Olimar's nose absolutely refuses to patch correctly.  every time i patched it, the nose just exploded even worse.  so Snoopy's nose looks a little messed up if you zoom in really close, and Dexter's is a bit more noticeable, but he has a pointy nose anyways, so it mostly works.
and Dexter's buttons on the from of his shirt may move around as well, but that's because they aren't in their original positions.  and the coat edge part (the black stripe) may move a bit as well, but that's because i took a strap from Olimar's bag and used that, because the way that Olimar is textured is a complete pain to work with, way too much mirroring.

overall, i think they look pretty good, and i feel like i was quite resourceful using many of the parts of Olimar the way i did.

anyways, Kat and Ana over the Ice Climbers is next!

and sorry i've been dead for a while, school got really busy for me.  i had 5 tests the week i put up the Snoopy preview, had a bunch of other projects due since then, and finals week is next week, which includes 5 more tests for me.

thanks guys, glad you like them.  and yes, Olimar is getting quite a few good vertexes, but that's because he's a pretty decent fighter, once you get good with him.

and Mariofan1138, i was going to vertex the Pikmin for Dexter into robots, and Woodstocks for Snoopy, but i kept getting an error with DasDonkeyBox.  the Pikmin can be vertexed, they just can't be imported.

yeah, if you could get the Pikmin vertexed, then please do.  if you do, probably just take the Yellow Pikmin, that way Woodstock will be yellow.  then we can just put that one on all the Pikmin.

oh, and i'm officially on a team now.  Stack Smash!

http://stacksmash.kontek.net/?p=13558 (http://stacksmash.kontek.net/?p=13558)

this one has the info about Hitmonchan and why i haven't been on in a while.  yeah, too lazy to copy and paste, but i'll blame it on my laptop's battery for now (it's pretty low, and it dies in about an hour even on the lowest power settings).

face it, you want it, because we all know which Pokemon is the best of the Hitmon family...

i finally have the internet back in my house after 2 rather long months without it.  and i come bearing a gift from shear boredom, Snoopy V2!  it now includes the Flying Ace and Woodstocks!

(http://img192.imageshack.us/img192/3178/woodstock1.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/192/woodstock1.jpg/)

(http://img196.imageshack.us/img196/6324/snoopy4.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/196/snoopy4.jpg/)

i figured out a way to vertex the Pikmin, but it's through doing it by hand.  it doesn't take too long once you get used to it, but it still took many hours to do.  it looks really good though, i'm surprised how well it turned out.  and if you want the full details on how i vertexed the Pikmin, i'll post my notes.  oh, and i disabled the leg bones because it was causing some bad stretching, but it didn't mess with the hitboxes at all.  i just updated the existing Vault entry, but here's the link anyways.

Hey snoopy, do you mind if I make a more brawl styled version of that? I just think he should look like he'd fit in the game more.

Mansta8, go right ahead.  i'm not that great at texturing, so i'd be happy if you did.  once you're done with it, just send it to me and i'll put it into the pack.  and if you want to do that with some of my others, i wouldn't be disapointed...

Title: Re: Snoopy's Stuff - 8-9, i have internet again! and a present, Woodstocks!
Post by: Snoopy on August 11, 2011, 02:17:28 PM
sorry, i meant to post this last night, but i got busy and never did.

anyways, here's my notes about how i vertexed the Pikmin.  keep in mind that you have to hex the changes yourself.  and because it's a large wall of text, it's in a spoiler.

the reason you can't vertex Pikmin (and probably other models, like Waddle Dee/Doo, and items) any of the usual ways is because of the way the vertex data is stored.  most models store them in 32 bit hex, as in 30FE922D.  for one vertex, they have 3 sets, one for the X, Y and Z positions.  the Pikmin models hold the vertex data in 16 bit hex, as in 0852.  this is why our current methods won't work with them, because they can only edit 32 bit hex data.

as for how you vertex them, it's all by hand, through a hex editor.  here are the steps.

first, get a FitPikmin00.pac and run it through AiS to get the DAE's of the models.  import it into 3ds Max.

second, vertex the model to what you want it to look like.

third, get the model you're editing, and open it in a hex editor.  go to the vertex set you've edited in 3ds max.  look in BrawlBox to find the offset, in the Verticies folder.

fourth, it's time to move the verticies, one at a time.  you'll have to count out where all the verticies are, so it's a good idea to open a copy of the model in the hex editor and type in where all the verticies are.  i say a copy, so it won't mess with the one you want to save.

fifth, start moving the verticies.  here's some of what i've written down.  these are 2 different verticies moved.

0852 - .914
5852 - 10.914
08A2 - .953
0952 - 1.039
0A32 - 1.149
0F72 - 1.805
0F79 - 1.808
10A9 - 1.957

F905 - -.871
FA05 - -.746

for the most part, if you increase the numbers, they move in a positive direction, and vice versa.  i say for the most part because i ran into a few verticies that did the opposite, so just be aware of that.  and this is the pattern i picked up after a while.

1st # adjusts the 1 position  (by a little over 2 per number (3 to 4, A to 9...))
2nd # adjusts the .1 position  (by a little over 1 per number (3 to 4, A to 9...))
3rd # adjusts the .01 position  (by a little over 1 per number (3 to 4, A to 9...))
4th # adjusts the .001 position  (by small quantities)

this was for the Yellow Pikmin's body.  the eye polygon took a lot more to move the verticies.  it just takes some trial and error to get used to it.  you'll also want 2 3ds's open, the fully edited one, and an unedited one.  that way, you can see how much you need to change the vertex.  compare the same vertex in both, then hex the change.  i'd also suggest editing only 1 or 2 verticies at a time.  it gets a bit confusing if you do more.

sixth, when you make the change in the hex editor, save it.

seventh, import the model you just edited into the FitPikmin00.pac, save it, and run it through AiS.

eighth, import the new DAE into 3ds, and find the vertex you edited.  compare where the vertex ended up to the fully edited model.

ninth, go back to step 5.  if the vertex you moved is in an acceptable range of where you wanted it, move to the next.

this process will take many hours to do, but as far as i know, it's the only way to do it.

if you have questions about it, just ask.

crazy?  probably.  but i have a lot of free time until college starts up again, unfortunately being in a little over a week.  but it was totally worth it.

also, high quality textures, courtesy of MANSTA8.

(http://img585.imageshack.us/img585/3554/snoopy5.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/585/snoopy5.jpg/)

i then took it and applied it to Joe Cool and the Flying Ace

(http://img217.imageshack.us/img217/2955/snoopy6.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/217/snoopy6.jpg/)

http://forums.kc-mm.com/Gallery/BrawlView.php?Number=18520 (http://forums.kc-mm.com/Gallery/BrawlView.php?Number=18520)

also, i took some time to make the Flying Ace look better, mainly with the goggles.  they're made from Olimar's eyes, just like Joe Cool's glasses are.   it just bugged me for some reason to not do it like that.  the download includes my textures and MANSTA8's textures, just because.

oh, and i also finally fixed the problem with Joe Cool's glasses moving around.  they don't now.

i figure this is a good way to finally say that one of my favorite hacks so far is now fully completed.  no further updates are needed for Snoopy.  the rest of mine, on the other hand...

yep, with his regular eyes for the glasses arms.  all you have to do to make them always show is to hex the bone index to another index.  the regular eyes are at index 32 and the damage eyes are index 33.  just change them to something else, and they'll always show.  a word of warning, though.  on some bones, they like to move around a lot more than they should.  if you aren't going to use the bag for anything, then re-index the bones to be 14, like i did with Dexter.  if you are going to use the bag, then you'll probably have to do some bone re-structuring, like i did with Joe Cool and the Flying Ace.

that will work with any polygons that are attached to a specific bone that only show during certain times.

so i figured i'd quit being such a ninja about what i'm working on and actually show some previews.  they're in the first post, which i also cleaned up a bit.

and here's one i didn't include there, because it's almost done.  it's Munna, from Pokemon Black and White.  i just need to tweak the normals or shading or something, it's showing up too bright and too dark in some stages.  it's most likely from the way i made it.

just try and guess which character i made this from.

actually, i made Munna from Ness's backpack.  how i came up with the idea, i have no clue, but i thought it would be funny, so i made it.  it was really late one night when i got the idea, so sleep depravation could be one cause.  the normals are nulled, because it looked pretty bad otherwise.  so onto Kat and Ana!

and for those who were asking and may not have seen it, i made a quick tutorial for making polygons always show, like i did with my Dexter and Snoopy models.

uh, possibly?  i'm not too sure if it would, but give it a shot and see what happens.  but doesn't the new BrawlBox have an animation fixing function anyways?  oh, and i wouldn't be able to do a very accurate Lilipup over the nintendog, not enough verticies around the head.

the Animal Crosser!  now 75% more generic-ness!  this time i made the model reflect the Gamecube version, so he has a viking helmet on.

first time i've done two hacks in one week in a long while.  granted, they were both pretty easy, but hey.

and i swear i'll probably get Kat and Ana done next.  it depends on if i get another distraction or not.

no, no more distractions.  i almost have them done, just the head and hair need to be completed.  as for your suggestions, no (the only fighting game i care about is Brawl, i don't have to memorize attack inputs), no (she'd have to be over ZSS because no one else has enough verticies in the chest area to work, and same reason as above), and definitely no (i hate DBZ).

For some [censored]ed up reason I can't get a .dae from AIS from my Female link AT ALL after I used the polygon deleater :l I could send you the files via pm, but said files are already on my vault if you want them.

AIS just creates a "log" txt file and does nothing else.

And my 3DS Max 2010 crashes when I try to import a .DAE even from an unedited fitlinkXX file.

Anyway great job on the animal crosser! I always wondered why they had viking helmets in animal crossing 1 though...

thanks guys.  Animal Crossing is one of my favorite games, and the Gamecube version was the first one i had, so i figured the doing one with the viking helmet would be cool.

KTH, i'm still working on it.  i have a few things left to try to fix it.

and Naru, it's as Ninka said, once you remove a polygon, AiS won't re-open it.  that's why you should just vertex shrink the polygons you don't want, or at least that's what i do.  you can always re-hex the polygons back in if you need to, just by opening a clean model and an edited model in a hex editor and copy pasting the removed polys from the clean one back into the edited one.  then AiS will work again.  as for the second problem, i'm not too sure.  do you have the right Collada importer?  i use Max 8, so i'm not sure about Max 2010.

Yeah I have collada installed for 3DS Max 8 (Which I've had to uninstall and reinstall ) but I can't seem to get my hands on the Collada installer for 2010.

I emailed freeling software and requested that software but they sent me an email back saying "we don't offer that software anymore" =_= if they dont do it then why the [censored] do they still have it listed on their website, it even says that to get that software you have to send them an email asking for it... >_> UGH!

Also, just tried the "patching" on my polygon I wanted gone and I vertexed it to be MICROSIZED so there's no way it'll show up now =3 at least I hope :D

SmashClash, i think i see why it's a pain to patch.  you have Olimar's nose spread all over his face.  i've never gotten his nose to do what i want it to do, even by shrinking it to nothing.  and patching is the only reason i temporarily stopped GIR.  i'm pretty sure i know how to correct it on mine, but i got lazy and decided to work on something else.

and i'm finally almost done with the modeling portion of Kat and Ana.  still no texture, though.

Title: Re: Snoopy's Stuff - 9-21 something not DBZ related? GIR released
Post by: Snoopy on September 21, 2011, 01:33:57 AM
so after a few exporting issues, and finally getting over my laziness of putting it off, GIR is finally released!

(http://img716.imageshack.us/img716/4149/gir1h.png) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/716/gir1h.png/)

http://forums.kc-mm.com/Gallery/BrawlView.php?Number=22550 (http://forums.kc-mm.com/Gallery/BrawlView.php?Number=22550)

has 2 versions, regular GIR and serious GIR.

i would have included pigs over the Pikmin, but the game lagged every time i tried replacing them.  so GIR has just regular Pikmin.  and don't mind the legs so much, there was some major polygon stretching if i renamed the leg bones.  on the positive side, GIR should actually be wifi safe, since i didn't do any bone edits.

and i'm officially canceling Kat and Ana.  too many stupid issues i can't fix.

and the title is because most of the recent vertexes have all been DBZ related.
stupid overrated DBZ...

Post by: Gamma Ridley on September 21, 2011, 10:54:57 AM
GIR looks great!

Now, about the piggies: were you using the newest Brawl Box that BlackJax recently released? If so, that's why it lags. The model rebuilder isn't finished yet.

That's why the platforms were causing the game to lag too. /:

And yeah, it's good to finally see something not DBZ related. XD

Hopefully that trend will fade away soon.

hopefully, yes.

but i tried both versions of BrawlBox (.63d and BlackJax's) and it gave me the same issue each time.  it may be something with the pig model itself.

actually...   hm.  one more test just came to mind.  if it doesn't work, then i won't bother with the pigs.

eh, but at least Pokemon is more enjoyable.  and trust me, i have a list of about 40 possibilities for Pokemon that haven't been done yet that might work vertexing wise.

but i just tested my thought, and it was using the new BrawlBox to rename the pigs bones that caused the lag.  it did the same thing to GIR.  i should have realized that before, but oh well.  i'll get the GIR with piggies up soon.

Edit:  now has piggies!

I love GIR, he was my favorite character from the show (like many others) works perfectly on the blue costume.
I also see you've been getting better at textures too.

Glad to hear someone likes pokemon too xD most pokemon hacks are either made by AAfyre  or strarwafle is nice to see someone willing  to do some pokemons too :P an idea thats very easy to vertex and would be amazing jigglipuff evolution line over jiglypuff xD jiggly has no vertexes and i guess igglybuff and wigglytuff are easy and quick to do :P just giving some ideas altough i dont know what 40 of those ideas are

yeah, i'm willing to do Pokemon, i've been playing it basically since it started.  it's one of my favorite game series.  and Igglybuff just might work...  and the reason there aren't many Jigglypuff vertexes is because of how she's textured.  her skin texture is a 4 x 4 pixel block that covers everything except her eyes, ears, and mouth.  so Wigglytuff wouldn't work because she would lack the white spot on her stomach.  and the 40ish stretch across all the generations, but more than half are from the first 2, because they were better.  maybe i'll post my Pokemon ideas eventually.

as for Samurai Jack, i have the face mostly done.  i started with that because most everything else is hidden by his robe.  it's looking pretty good so far.  i'll get a preview up soon.  it's been a bit too long to have any ideas for a PSA for him, but that's why i chose Marth, so he doesn't need one.  not that i'm going to stop anyone from making one after he's done.

and KTH, thanks, but i've cancelled making Kat and Ana.  too many issues in game that i can't fix.

Same  has me i starting playing pokemon since the red/blue version since my 3 or 4th grade :P and i still play and follow the fifth gen and im my opinion the 1st and second gen were the best pokemon games ever 1st becuase it was where it all started 2nd becuase two maps huge playthrough an epic day/night i mean it was the best games and the best was the time of gameplay he had xD as for wigglytuff couldnt it just be possible to map textures or something i know ppl can do that already but someday i bet  we could all see what pokemon ideas you have xD

Samurai Jack previews!  yay!

(http://img204.imageshack.us/img204/4506/jack1tf.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/204/jack1tf.jpg/)

obviously still pretty early in the modeling phase.  i'm going to have to texture out the feet and legs because of some major clipping with most of the animations.  but otherwise it's coming along nicely.

although, the face seems a little odd to me.  what do you guys think?

(http://img190.imageshack.us/img190/7571/jack2ku.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/190/jack2ku.jpg/)

(http://img155.imageshack.us/img155/2203/jack3o.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/155/jack3o.jpg/)

i think the lips need to go, but i'm not too sure what else.

I freakin LOVE you.  Samurai Jack was the BOMB back in the day.  So glad you're making him ^^  Best of luck.  Also, very nice work with GIR.  The only real critique is how you can see how some of those face vertices meet at that one point in the middle.  I'm guessing this may be a normal problem?

Yesz! Samurai Jack!

Regarding his robe thing, instead of using the bottom portion on Marths shirt and just stretching it downward, why don't you make it out of his legs? I played around with the idea with my Nemesis hack so his legs won't clip through his cloak, though I don't know how well it'd work with something as long as Jacks robe.

I personally, if you aren't planning to null the normals, would remove the lips completely. I think that the eyes, nose, and mouth should be raised up some since Jacks chin takes up like half his face. I can't really get the shape of his eyes without his eye polygons in there, but don't forget to get those right.

But yea, hope that helps some.

Title: Re: Snoopy's Stuff - 9-22 Samurai Jack previews, and GIR with piggies released
Post by: Snoopy on September 23, 2011, 11:32:01 AM
hm, make the robe from his legs... i'll have to try that.  and i probably won't null the normals unless he looks really weird in game, which i don't think he will at this point, i haven't done anything too crazy with him yet.  and raising the eyes, nose and mouth up a bit should help too, flattening them up a little.  thanks, this should definitely help.

and SDoom, yeah, with GIR i had to shrink Olimar's nose to nothing, move it inside his head, then move more verticies to cover the hole that left.  the way it looks now is probably a normal issue, but it's because of the way i shrunk the verticies.  i did the same thing with Dexter, but the circle of verticies to cover the hole is what i used to make his nose.

and i'm glad to see everyone is excited for Jack.  i am too.

new previews!  yay!

(http://img194.imageshack.us/img194/9136/jack1ml.png) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/194/jack1ml.png/)

top half

(http://img43.imageshack.us/img43/7646/jack2r.png) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/43/jack2r.png/)

bottom half

(http://img38.imageshack.us/img38/6168/jack3b.png) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/38/jack3b.png/)

(http://img856.imageshack.us/img856/3964/jack4.png) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/856/jack4.png/)

and face close ups.

i haven't had much time in the last few weeks because of a lot of school work.  fortunately, i should have some free time this week, and i have Thursday and Friday off, so my goal is to get Jack out by next week.  just don't get too mad if it doesn't happen.  i still have to edit the other faces and the texture, and that may take some time to do.  on the plus side, i think the face is just about where it needs to be.

and i made the legs into his robe.  it looked really bad with the animations with the way i had it.

as for the poll, i'm just not sure what i should do next.  they're mainly just a bunch of random ideas i have.  the percentage is for how easy i think it will be to do.  with the last 2 options, i have a list of 30-40 other Pokemon ideas that could be possible, so if that option wins, i'll do another poll, but not with all of them.  and the suggestion, i'll listen to suggestions, but it's not a guarantee that i'll do it.  if i like it, then i probably will.  what interests me?  look at the stuff i've already done, and base it on that.  i'll probably say no to any anime characters, so there's a start.

and the poll will end about the time i release Jack.  i'll do the top voted one first, then probably go in order of vote count after.

Jack needs more SRS faic

Also, jack is probably one of the only characters you could get away with having cell shaded textures AND nulled normals, because that was the style of his cartoons. Shadows were only drawn in drastically lighted situations (spotlights, explosions, sunsets etc)

in game previews.  so close to being done....

(http://img408.imageshack.us/img408/7983/jackpreview2.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/408/jackpreview2.jpg/)

(http://img828.imageshack.us/img828/1700/jackpreview1.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/828/jackpreview1.jpg/)

(http://img855.imageshack.us/img855/7559/jackpreview3.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/855/jackpreview3.jpg/)

all i have left is the sword handle, the other faces, and making a better texture.  and don't mind those things coming out from his neck, the verticies aren't cooperating much, and i'll just have to hex move them, because patching and texture erasing hasn't gotten rid of them yet.

Jack needs more SRS faic

Also, jack is probably one of the only characters you could get away with having cell shaded textures AND nulled normals, because that was the style of his cartoons. Shadows were only drawn in drastically lighted situations (spotlights, explosions, sunsets etc)

i made the face a bit more serious looking, but i'm not sure if that was enough.  it does look better though.  i don't like to null normals unless i have to, but it certainly would make him look more like the cartoon.  maybe i'll include a separate version that has nulled normals.

Since you make Cartoon TV show charcters.........Finn from adventure time. Over Toon Link. An actual GOOD vertex of Finn of TL.

well, i'll sum up the new shows on CN in a word, terrible (in my opinion).  many have their moments when they're actually funny, but overall, just no.  i'm more a fan of the older CN stuff, hence Dexter and Samurai Jack.

Professor Oak + PPG's on Pokemon (impossible)=epic win.

hm, actually.... well, it would require some model swaps, and even then, they would be horribly stretched when the animations are applied.  although, it would make a cool PSA project.  and if someone actually would do that, i totally would do the vertex for them.

sorry it took a few extra days.  the sword handle was giving me a lot of trouble.  every time i exported it, it exploded worse and worse.  so i decided to try hexing it to make it how i wanted, but i couldn't get some of the vertices to move far enough.  so i left the handle alone.

i did vertex all his faces, so he won't have just one face the entire time, and he is wifi safe as well.

may the best ninja win...

Edit:  as for the poll, since there's basically been no votes the last few days, and Jack is out, it's now locked.  so i'll be doing Professor Oak next, then Tails, then either the Eeveelutions or Mr Krabbs.  or both.  dunno yet.
