What's this? a new post? not a texture mind you. Idk if i'll ever do one again, considering it's so much easier to import stuff nowadays. anyways, have ya heard about brawlex by phantomwings? you can add up to 36  characters at the moment to brawl (42 if you add alloys and giga bowser and wario man), soon to be expanded to 100 characters total.

Well I did just that, and painstakingly selected and added the creme-de-la-crop of brawlvault's psas for the allowed characters. this pack contains some of the best and most unique movesets i've seen thus far.

got a bunch of work done on spidersheik... I don't know if the ponytail or sword sheath models can be invisible or not (probably not, but some character's hair can be invisible i think, i'll try later...)

for fun and easy greenscreen effects. the further the camera is away from the stage, the darker the stage pieces are from the background... making it more difficult to maintain greenscreen effects at a far distance

it also makes for easy photoshopping... (but Gimp doesn't magic wand select as well as photoshop :()

Nice textures! I love your Henry texture, it could have fit Mario, but it looks great on Toon Link because of the sword. The nly thing missing is the moustache and it would be perfect. Hope it comes out soon. :af2:

this isn't an extremely specific character, I just tried making MetaKnight look as Gentlemanly as possible.


the ears, sideburns, mustache and dual monocles are courtesy of Henry Hatsworth concept art

I dunno how to work the item files, there's a guide for making them work, and i think they might need to be added to a file which contains all of the other items, making a single file for this, perhaps less useful than it's current form.... but i dunno really

Fixed the file, and added more details

it works completely and DOES NOT freeze your wii at all. i had to recompile the texture in ASH to get it to work

I was finally able to get gentleman knight and gruntilda to work without freezing, you can download them on the front page.

it was because the version of smashbox i had was way outdated and kinda broke everything

either spidershiek or another texture will be finished next, preferably some newly tried out texture, if it can be done quickly, and perhaps without theme. so I might just make some miscellaneous textures that I've just come up with if they happen to work and look good.

I made a little mockup of it just now, and as you can see, it can't get very detailed. the body texture has 16 pixels which merge all of their colors together. the eye textures are much more editable, but they do not mirror each other, so I cannot put a face or anything outside of "layers" for the eye textures, as they have to be symmetrical. the hands and feet use the same texture as the body, and I can hardly control what color more than half of the whole texture (which get's it's color from the merged area of black to white, making it gray.)

The Jockey, from Left 4 Dead 2. Texture directly taken from the game. I was going to fully vertex hack his body and hands and whatnot to look like a jockey instead of Diddy Kong, but I won’t be able to do that anytime soon, especially considering the effort it takes with my current method of vertex hacking. His tail is removed (vertex hack) and I tried deleting as many polygons of arm hair that I could (not much).

He has a few “glitches”, none of which affect gameplay.

1. When he is damaged, Diddy Kong’s eyes always shrink. his whole eye texture wraps weird at that point (as seen in the one picture above)

2. When attacking with Diddy’s tail (end of A combo), his butt deforms, has a hole in it (which I tried closing when removing the tail), and you see a fragment of his tail stretched around

3. Diddy Kong’s smile taunt shows his teeth, which I also have textured, so it looks like he has 2 sets of teeth with that taunt (which looks pretty creepy, so I kept it)

Dude...major facepalm...u bring facepalm into chuck norrises level dude u just rename .pcs and .pac files to Fit(japanese name of char)00,01,02 etc based on the costume number. Next time look at a tutorial

Yup, Anthony Higgs, remastered from his crappy first version, when I had only the trailer for references to make the Galactic Federation suit. Then more pics got released and I finally could redo this texture.

Dude...major facepalm...u bring facepalm into chuck norrises level dude u just rename .pcs and .pac files to Fit(japanese name of char)00,01,02 etc based on the costume number. Next time look at a tutorial

some updates to some old textures on the main page
Hatsworth: removed shield and mostly vertexed sword
M.Bison: removed the visor triangles in front of his eyes, and I textured a false eye over his right eye, to make it look like he has 2 eyes
spy: removed ammo packs and made separate downloads

My Anthony Higgs based textures (including all the alternate GF uniforms) had their downloads taken down from mediafire without my knowledge. After I noticed that these files were removed, I asked mediafire why they were removed. Their response was that the "copyright holders" of these items requested for their removal. While I am entirely willing to respect the requests of the true copyright holders to my items, there seems something odd about this situation.

1. if the "copyright holders" in question are those responsible for brawl's models and data, why didn't they ask for my other downloads to be removed? Seeing as it was only the Metroid: Other M textures removed, it is safe to say that this is not the case.

2. I find it hard to believe that obscure characters portrayed as a texture on a character in a somewhat obscure community would be targeted by the likely japanese copyright holders as something to be removed, this sounds more like the work of an impostor who already was part of this community or knew of my work previously. Especially since the only links to the files are located within this community itself or on an obscure post on gamefaqs.

3. This action doesn't seem appropriate or realistic. Nintendo isn't known for taking action against stolen work or infringed copyrights. Also, the copyright holders would likely know that this character was not only created before it was possible for me to obtain textures from the game and that the likeness of a character without the intent of or actual gain of profit from said use is protected by free use.

That said, if the true copyright holder(s) wishes for the removal of my textures with the likenesses of the characters from Metroid: Other M, please let me know either here or through email, located in my profile.

For now, given the suspicious nature of the removals and the harmless action of maintaining the downloads, I reuploaded them somewhere else.

How are these cringe-worthy at all? Manfred's body is nicely detailed, just that the contrast doesn't seem too great. The face is coming along nice too.

Banjo-mar is funny looking in an awesome way.


Oh, since you're talking about his hacks in general, your opinion sucks: for example, that Guile kicks some major ass.

Manfred's not vertexed yet, I just started the texture over mariokart64n's melee ganondorf body combined with akari un's marcus phoenix's head. I plan on editing ganon's body eventually, to make him wear a suit. whether I start with mariokart's as a base or not, I don't know for sure, but i'll probably just use akari's head models.

@ shadowsnake, allow me to critique your hacks then. They have all comprise one or more of the following traits:

Recolors
Faces
combos of others' work re released for yourself
extremely stretched textures (my personal favorite)
Horribly mapped/seamed textures
heavily-tiled repeated textures
or vertex edits that consist of nothing but 5 vertices pulled in one direction or another

see, my one word response might not have been as helpful for your improvement, but it at least tried to hold in some of the truth you might not have wanted to hear.

now, maybe you should stop critiquing previews of my upcoming work and go back to making popularly-named 2 cent textures for the "highly respectable" Kitty Corp Meow Mix team.

Whenever I comment on KCMM's blog posts, particularly on textures I feel are unfinished or in bad quality, I usually tend to avoid outright pointing out any problems which I feel the creator has with their work. My comments are simply meant to express my disapproval in said posts in a way that I don't attract attention to the faults my comments are based upon.

This is no reason to come to my thread of upcoming projects and insult my work because of a comment made almost a month and a half ago. Deal with your issues in your own posts or with me directly if you have a problem. You know full well that my work is never something to slander, so don't expect me to sugar-coat your skill when you start talking crap about mine.

I decided to just go ahead and start from scratch on the default model, considering mk64n's model wanst a good starting point for this and akari's head model had no expressions

Mostly done the vertexin, I still have to wrestle with the steps to get it out of 3ds though

The face was made from the small segment of handle on the other side of the hammer head. it had a pretty small part of its UV map, so I increased that and was able to paste a face on it.

as you can see, the segment im using for the head inst very complex of a model, it only has 1 segment of faces in length and has a bit of depth from it's center  vertex sticking out. the texture you've seen on it so far has just been what's on the faces on the exact end of the piece. I may, or may not make the front of the face seamless and continue to the side of the piece, but you still recognize the face pretty well even if its kinda flat.

so that picture of her holding the broom (which was meant to show how close I am to giving fingers to D3) is just the back of the head

It certainly is, mr gnw is a 3d model like everyone else, with additional models for his outlines too. Luckily I can abuse some of his flatness to make a more detailed body,like I did with his head. I don't have too much to finish until she's released, but it takes a lot of separate polygons to go through the export and patching process

yeah it does, just put it as "FitGamewatch00.pcs" in the gamewatch folder. It will affect all of his costume slots because his data's just special

if its not working for you, then you might be using some other hack that's affecting it. (perhaps one that changes his default colors)

and said hack preventing this may have "allowed" individual costumes for his slots.

so I have no idea exactly what your problem is

Ok, I have to ask, since you've proven that vertex edits of Game and Watch are possible.  Would you be able to  modify game and watch so that he looks like Paper Mario? I'm aware you may not be able to put his texture on top of game and watch (maybe you can, I'm not really in the know about that kind of thing), but would you be able to change his body so its the same shape as Paper Mario?  Would be super cool if possible.

As you can tell by my previous hacks, I already made a "paper" mario. he's completely flat unless thrown. Also, by the looks of it, my hack's getting a psa of sorts to play like paper mario. So I have no plans to further anything of that theme.

To answer the question of possibility, you could only make a shape of mario, as in a silhouette. Even at that point, any editing to his arms or legs (for proportion) would lead to rigging problems. so you couldn't even get a close shape. lastly, textures only work with his emerald textures, which aren't so U.V. mapped. Take a look at any G&W "textures", they always reflect based on the camera angle and a single texture reflects all around the body. so any texturing wouldn't be close at all.

One breakthrough though, it appears that g&w's data flattens his dimensions on the particular axis by a certain amount, like .0001 or something. By increasing his width through vertexing, I surmise it would be possible to make a "one-slot"(not really r)) 3D game and watch. One problem though, his body parts rotate, which would make it look very weird in some animations (without bones disabled).

Lastly, I see no reason making the reverse of my flat mario hack wouldn't make game and watch 3D. Sure he's hard-coded flat, but that could likely be offset with width. Making a complete animation hack like I did would take a long time though, and I'm certainly not doing that anytime soon.

Ignore this post, its data I collected between doc and mario in melee along with mario in brawl and the current progress on his psa (as edited from this).

It's here to record the damage differences between melee and brawl mario as well as the differences between the doc and melee mario. it's what i'd need to make a perfect melee/doc psa, or to theorize how to make doc changed to fit brawl better, such as the evolution of mario into his brawl form.

yes, I was careful with stale moves. all brawl stuff was in training, all melee stuff was done only once to ensure no degradation

Oh hey, I'm back. kinda.

looks like A, there's not long before things will be developed for the wiiu smash instead of brawl. and B, theres some cool stuff like model importing that's now working.


anyways, had some time on my hand, so I changed dr. mario's psa to have modified/balanced damage. (the original doctor's psa had just about the same damage as mario's attacks unless they were very noticeable, like the doc punch and his Nair)

so here's whats in it.
i compared docs damages for attacks, to melee mario's
say doc does 8 damages and mario does 6

so when mario gets balanced in brawl to like 4 damage, keeping 8 damage is unbalanced, so it's still not the original, but it would be like what doc's modifications to brawl mario would be.

the animations aren't edited yet though, primarily his slow backflip, but whatever.

I've finished the next update to my pack, fixing all known freezes and many other graphical glitches. I technically have one less new character from the previous pack, but have fixed 4 characters, and added 4 alloys, making my pack have a total of 39 new characters out of the current possible 42 if i could fix klonoa (gray fox's replacement), and add slots for giga bowser and warioman. (while there are psa's for alloys and gigabowser and wario man, they arent good enough to be replacement characters.)

this makes a brawl with 76-80 fighters (80 if you consider sheik, zsamus, and all 3 pokemon as separate)

heres the changelog:
CHANGELOG:
V.1.00
-added alloys raising total characters to 39 out of possible 42 (1 more EX slots and giga bowser and wario man)
-disabled gray fox (now klonoa) and slot 58
-fixed all known freezes(pichu, megaman, megamanx, knuckles, and stages)
-as such, pichu has no motion.pac file (still looks fine, down B is different tho), megamanx and knuckles have different movesets(at least they work)
-fixed random to select from everyone
-added classic stage expansion pack and arwing loading screen
-reorganized the css by franchise kinda
-fixed battle portraits, stages, victory screen names, file names
-added full credits
-added a bunch of alt costumes (mainly recolors) (not for every slot tho)
-added sdhc, unlimited camera, and costume reorganize code
