Title: Should somebody make a Guide for the Alternate File Patcher?
Post by: STUFF2o on September 30, 2009, 03:46:19 PM
That code is crazy complicated to use from what I've seen, but it has potential. Sure you can't use Lucario v.s. Mewtwo, but you can use both at different times without having to mess with files on the SD card! Also, this means twice as many texture slots for everybody. If somebody understands this code well enough to get it to work, please make a tutorial.  :af2:

How long have you been waiting?

It's never going to come. If it did, it'd be like an encyclopedia. You could make a whole Wiki just for PSA. It's more of a program than a process. Just experiment with it, it's not that hard to get the hang of it, it just looks intimidating.

Trust me, you'll learn a lot just goofing off with it for a week. I did. By the end of said week, I knew how to make entirely custom attacks.

PSA is extremely easy. Just goof off with it for 10 minutes and you'll learn something. From there, you can seriously master it in like, a week.

It's a code that lets you load an alternate texture or moveset by holding a certain button of your choice.
Example: I have all of Luigi's texture slots filled, but I want to use more textures. I hold Z while selecting Luigi and I can pick extra textures.
Example 2: I want to play as Lucario, then I want to play as the Mewtwo PSA, but I don't want to mess with the SD card. So, for one Brawl, I just select Lucario, and the next, I hold Z and select Lucario, but with the moveset.

Basically, it loads .pcs's and .pac's from a folder that isn't PF when you hold a certain button.

PSA is like very basic GUI programming, its not hard, you will be able to understand it within a minute if you have ever done real coding.
