Title: Spex130's Roadside Model Shack: Wii Fit Trainer Preview
Post by: Spex130 on November 02, 2011, 11:21:42 PM
At the suggestion of Sorceress, I'm opening up a little modeling place of my own.
Next to Beyond's awesome max swag Model Cartel, it doesn't amount to much, but it'll do.  :af:

So yeah. Enjoy the previews. Links to the BrawlVault Downloads are in the spoilers.

Enjoy!

Greymon

So, I decided to clear out my request Queue. This one's for Lithium

Now, I'm not much a Digimon fan, but requests are requests. This one's name is Graymon, and that's all I know about him.

This model wasn't really meant to move that much originally, along with the fact that the original model doesn't really fit Bowser all that easily either. So this one's heavily modified (as usual.)

It comes with working Shaders, Metal support, Final Smash Eyes, and a Shell that works like Bowser's does.

Mighty the Armadillo

Mighty the Armadillo. A pacifist who enjoys long walks on nature trails, outdoor baths, and general peace and quiet.

He's also strong enough to rip a robot in half with his bare hands.

E-102 Gamma
Gamma is a robot created by Dr. Robotnik (Better known as Eggman.)

He lived for his master's cause until he met Amy Rose, who proved his master wrong.

He spent the rest of his existence releasing the Flickies inside the other E-100 robos.

He died when E-101 Beta decided to blow himself up along with Gamma.

Tresmyx (Organization XIII Mystery Man)
The members of Organization XIII.

Nobodies. The remnants of the bodies whose hearts have been stolen by the Heartless.

They also happen to own some VERY epic coats. Epic enough to make their face invisible.

Also. His name is an anagram of Mystery, with an X added.

So yeah. If the World of the Trophies was within the universe of Kingdom Hearts, a Nobody for Zelda could have been made when she became the Twilight Puppet.

......

Yeah, bad fanfiction aside,

if the model is over Zelda, why not have a Zelda version?

Complete with glowy eyes!  :af2:

About that, could you tell me how?

I noticed that as well, but I didn't really know you could fix it.

EDIT:

I can be an idiot sometimes. I found the solution on the Help section of the forums, and it works.

I'll go update all the Vault entries. I'll also see if I can add Metal textures as well.

Stay posted, I'll update soon.

Post by: Spex130 on November 03, 2011, 08:45:52 PM
Alright guys!

Guard Armor has been completely updated.

His polygons are fixed as well as his unnatural brightness.

Rosy's too polygonal to smooth, so no edits for her.

Cait Sith's gonnna need a total Re-Rig. Serious stress tests (Aka the Spider-Man PSA) show that he has major  places where his rig just doesn't hold.

So, off to work I go!

Gosh. Double-posting still feels wrong, even if it's my own thread.

Anyways, Cait Sith Re-Rig is live.

Newest preview for my next project in the OP.

Also, I accidentally deleted the entire OP, so the little witty captions are gone. Oh well.

Alright! Mystery Man rig is complete! There are two versions. One with the standard mystery face, and one with Zelda's face in place of the mystery.

All that's left is the mandatory ingame testing.

Also, if I said I had a joke hack made of Chao, would you guys want it?

It was my second import ever, and it's kinda my personal thing I play with.

It's a few Chao rigged to Mario's bones. I dunno how to add a poll, so just tell me what you think!

I believe it might be an edited Unleashed rip, custom by Bagjac.

I think Bagjac should've made the shell longer down cause Mighty's head looks just round.. He needs that longer shell thingy. And yay Gamma! Wonder how he's gonna look when Hd-ified.. You should try to get Beta MK II on Rob cause he floats and has two arms :D

Yeah. There won't be any HD-ifying of this texture. There are 30-something textures, and each texture is connected to a set of polygons spread out all across the model. (It made rigging a serious pain, actually.) There's so much reusing of the same texture that it'd honestly be easier to just remake the model from scratch. OR you'd have to string together large amounts of textures in photoshop and re-UV the entire thing.

So, short story, Gamma's gonna be going in all-out polygonal bright glory.

The bigger creeper common3.pac does not work, and the bigger creeper's model broke my brawl until I got rid of it

Really? That's very strange. I had gotten a report like that before and I thought I had fixed it...

Oh wait. I think I might know.

Let me go and try to fix that. Then I'll post a link.

If it works, I'll add it to the original DL.

Yeah, I posted that link, but nobody bothered with it, so it's gone nao.  ;)

The creeper doesn't break on my Wii, so I can't really test it. I suppose it'll be stuck not working for certain people. Oh well.

Anyways, next project complete!

Emerl over Fox and E-121 Phi over Wolf!

All that's left is to test them ingame!

Check the OP for pics!

Yeah. A modeler named Bagjac did a series of models based on Sonic Battle artwork. He's an amazing fellow, but he decided to disappear off the internet and take his stuff with him. Some of his stuff, like Emerl, is still floating around though.

I kinda like the hands like that, but I suppose I could change it.

Yup. Gamma's 100% done. As for when he'll be released, that's still kinda in the works....

Expect him though.

Emerl AND Phi?! and over different chars at that?! O_o *mind blown*

Pretty awesome that Emerl's over Fox too, I think his attacks and taunts fit him well (since Emerl acts mostly like Sonic)

And Phi is just badass. period. 8)

Title: Re: Spex130's Roadside Model Shack: 1 Plea, 2 Personal Hacks, 1 Upcoming.
Post by: Spex130 on December 06, 2011, 07:44:10 PM
Man. Finals are harsh. I'm not even done yet...

Blame that for my lack of updates.

Anyway, I have some stuffs here. One plea for help, two previews of personal hack waiting for your input, and one upcoming hack.

To each, a spoiler!

HALP (Emerl/Phi):

OK, so Emerl works fine. I had to re-rig Phi once, but after that he worked too. Just one problem. Even if there's ABSOLUTELY nothing wrong with the textures in Brawlbox, they look like this in-game:

Any ideas/fixes?

Personal Completed Hack 1: Fox's Shadow

Yeah. Literally. Fox's Shadow. I rigged it to Fox's bones to see what would happen. It doesn't really have a set texture, but it doesn't steal textures off of other things either. It's a little weird.

Should I release it? Tell me your thoughts!

Personal Completed Hack 2: The Chao Colony

I stole the Chao off the Trophy and rigged all of them to Mario's Bones.

It's suited more for pictures than for fighting. Not that it doesn't work. Just saying.

It's a dumb hack, really. Anyone could've made it. But it's SO DANG CUTE!

Should I release it?

My next upcoming hack: Sonic the TF2 Scout

I saw some fanart floating around the Internet depicting the Sonic Cast as the Team Fortress 2 Cast. It was awesome.

So found Scout's model on the internet, and imported the models onto Sonic.

It's not textured yet. I know there's a Ness texture hack that has him as a TF2 scout, but I'm not gonna steal it.

It also has a basic rig without the toes or hands done.

Whaddya think?

Also, OP is updated with this stuff. Just an FYI.

Big shout out to Leonexodio for not only getting me the models but going through the trouble of replacing the textures for each E-100 robot as a recolor for Gamma.

Yeah, Gamma has around 15-25 different textures, and replacing them so they look right isn't easy. So yeah, thank him too.

Thanks!

Anyways, bad news guys.

Sonic the TF2 Scout will have to be delayed until the newest version of BrawlBox comes out with BJ's new Tristripper.

Right now the base "rigged and unmodified" Sonic Scout is around 3 MB. Which, needless to say, is WAY over Sonic's file limit. So I decided to kill the quality so I could get it to work.

That didn't work either. The file's are still a few hundred KB over the filesize. If I remove any more vertices from the model or quality from the texture Sonic will look like he came direct from the N64.

So yeah. Small delay. Moving on.

Melee Wireframes over Alloy Red and Alloy Blue coming up. Expect them soon.

Yeah, mine is darker.

The method I was using only allows the texture to lighten that much. One more value up and there IS no purple!

I was gonna change it, but I think it'd be better to differ between the two.

Anyways, your Import is AWESOME! :af2:

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go beat up some wireframes using a wireframe.

When I think wireframes, I think Zelda. You know, cuz' that's how they were in the other game? But ZSS would be pretty interesting. You could make a wireframe gun and everything.

That makes me want to make a wireframe battlesuit for the final smash. But if I import her over Zelda then I could make a wireframe shiek..

They both sound awesome..

I think I got an idea on how I think it should look. I think I'll work on a prototype in a bit.

Also before I was going to ask if you wanted to make wireframe versions of Mario and kirby, or yellow and green alloys, so we can have a full replacement. I work on one and you work on one. sound fun?

Anyway, here is what i thought the shiek wireframe should look like

I still want to work on this, but should i keep the shiekah eye or stay with the smash bros symbol?

I think a small wireframe with a hat would look nice. I think they should resemble their characters but still keep the look of the melee wireframe

Now it's set in stone!

I'm so hyped right now....

Title: Re: Spex130's Roadside Model Shack: Wait. THAT Wireframe?
Post by: DemonBoy on December 13, 2011, 11:04:33 PM
I have now finished shieks wireframe. all I did was flatten the chest a little more, fix the scarf, fix the UVs on the hair and changed the sheikah eye back into the smash bros symbol to keep the original look of the wirframe.

With that finished I will now work on the kirby wireframe.

Also, just to be clear, I will be doing female wireframe on blue alloy and you will be doing female wireframe on zelda?

Really. I guess I underestimated Kirby, then....

Although, I suppose you could just make a bunch of spheres. That would work too.

Anyway, here's the Mario. I just gotta make him some fists......

It took a while because my computer's freaking out about all the stuff I have open.

Hey! You there! I have a supermassive plug to pitch to you!

THIS:

http://forums.kc-mm.com/index.php?topic=37594.0

is a tournament. The Kingdom Hearts Style Tournament. It's kinda silent right now, so if you can model hack I want YOU to go join it.

"But Spex! Why would I want to do that? I mean, Starwaffle, Beyond, and even MarioDK are in that contest!"

Because if YOU join, then WE ALL get to see more characters dressed Kingdom Hearts style, and that's a Win-Win for everyone! So do it!

Next up is the Wireframe Zelda. Expect it soon.

So, hey everyone. Here I am with a preview.

I really wanted to just go and make something original. So I went and rigged a Buckot to Ness's bones. But that was REALLY REALLY bare. Not enough.

So I went to the Subspace Emissary and plastered a bunch of the enemies together.

Roader as a head. Buckot+bucket as the body. Siralmos sword on the back. And Blue Duon's arm as a Spear.

Should I release it?

Fun Fact: Both sets of eyes have EyeYellow.

Anyways, I feel I could do better, so I'm gonna be making more. And that's where YOU come in. Give me YOUR ideas too! It'll be great!

;D that is seriously a good idea. I'd love to see more custom made characters using parts from other characters. The Subspace Monstrosities that you'll conjure up are bound to be interesting.  ;)

If you're looking for fusion hodgepodge ideas...

I'm thinking... if you're willing to mishmash subspace characters with trophy models parts and characters from the normal brawl roster... This is only if you feel like combing so many different models to create something.

Use pit as a base.

Take Poppant's collar and put it on pits neck.

Put Zora trophies face in place of pits face. (Get rid of pits hair and make faces texture slightly tan)

Use Spaak's (thunder Cloud enemy) body and put it in place of pits hair. (Only the first Puff. Keep if big but size to make it large but not too big to where it covers up the face. Must cover his eyes though.)

Take Towtow's (giant ram enemy in subspace) horns and slightly shrink them on to the sides of pits head (still kept slightly over sized).

Give him Auroros' (rainbow winged bird enemies that dive at you like spears from heaven ) Wings on back.

Replace pits waist with lucario's. (Puffy pants like legs and get rid of tail)

Use Spaak's (thunder Cloud enemy) body and put it in place of pits hair. (size to make it apparent but not too big to where it covers up the face. Must cover his eyes though.

Place Bombed's (Bomb headed enemy) body ( without arms, legs, waist, or head) and put it around his arms (let ends reach wrists) and legs (beginning of shin and stretch to make it reach ankles)

Replace his weapons with the Kunai like objects on the trophy of Ancient Minister.
----------------------------------------------------------------

I know this isn't what you had in mind... but I'm just throwing stuff out there.

Oooh, y'know what!? Forget Pit.

Give a Primid (texture primids green body tan) a naganog head (get rid of the antennae swirl and give a tan texture)

Give poppant's Collar around Primids neck

Give Lucario pants (make it comically large like a cartoon baby diaper minus the tail and Texture it black)

Then give him the Spakk big Cloud body afro (cover eyes)

with Towtow Over sized Ram Horns on his head.

Place the Bombed bodies on arms and legs starting from elbows and shins and ending at wrists and ankles.

Also, put Auroros' wings (made tiny)

Oh, and if you can put the kunai like objects from the ancient minister trophey and put it in his Primid hands as a weapon, that would be lovely   (≧ヘ≦ )

Oh, and if you put him over pit or Luigi, that'd be cool  :P

 <<<<<<<>>>>>>>>

Well... now that I look back at it, it looks and sounds really demanding and specific. You don't have to do it if you don't want to. It is just an idea ( ̄ε ̄ )

Looks really cool. Although it seems unfitting on Ness (that might just be because I don't play him though). It will be fun when you make more monsters on a bunch of different characters.

This is the next Amalgam. The body is done, minus the Horns and wings Christian talked about.

All I used was Bombed's 2 textures, so he looks kinda sinister right now. He also has longer hair and Lucario pants. Lastly, if you look really close he's got a Subspace Emblem on his eye.

So, hey everyone, good news and bad news.

Good news:

Weapons are complete, rig is complete.

Bad News:

Something is seriously wrong with the import.

1: The only Visibilty bone command it will accept is the EyeYellow. All of the weapon visibility bones for the weapons and shield don't work, so they all show at the same time.

2: Most of the graphics (Such as the bladeglows) are rotated 90 degrees. How this happened, I don't know. Probably something to do with the bones.

3: It spontaneously freezes ingame.

All in all, I'm going to have to start over with completely new bones. Hopefully that will fix everything.

All I can give ya'll right now is a preview with everything on it besides the shield.

Good thing I've already rigged the thing 5 times over. It won't take too long.  ;)

Hoo. Still working on this Amalgam thing. It's still messed up, but not as bad.

In actuality, though, I'm here to show you guys what I've been doing on the days that I can't test on my Wii.

1: Bean the Dynamite.

He's hands down my favorite Sonic Character. He only appeared once in a Sonic Game (Which is Sonic the Fighters. It's twice if you count his rather miniscule cameo in Sonic Generations). He, along with Mighty, Fang, Ray, Honey, and Marine are the one-shot characters that never got another chance.

This model was originally scary polygonal, but I spruced and smoothed it up.

Original Lowpoly model

New Shiny Highpoly Custom Edit
(http://i844.photobucket.com/albums/ab8/Spex130/BeantheDynamitePic.png)

Not quite done with it yet, but it's almost there.

2: Mighty Talon Veemon (Digimon World 4)

So, I've gone through a lot of trouble to get this model. Minus the extra parts from Fox, it's the actual Veemon I use from DW4 (Bizur-La) with my most current weapon as well (The Mighty Talon). I actually got the memory off my Gamecube memory card so I could use it in Dolphin a while back, so I took the opportunity to rip the model and T-Pose it myself. I'm thinking of PSA'ing it.

Pretty sweet, huh?

Yeah, he has a jacket too. The model was looking REALLY weird when it was edited to fit the model, so instead of giving him some crazy messed up upper body I just replaced it with a jacket and gave him shoes.

Okay, so here comes another thing I never told you guys about out of left field, but I had a good reason this time.

...It's my secret tournament project. The one for the Kingdom Hearts Style Tourney by StarWaffle.

And now that I'm done, and it's out, I can tell you about it. See? It's a good reason.

Snow White: Kingdom Hearts Style

Link: http://forums.kc-mm.com/Gallery/BrawlView.php?Number=24574&Moderated=All&facebook=true

Pictures:

So, there's a lot that went into this one.

  • She has expressions. Blinking, talking, hurtfaces, all of that stuff.
  • She has a reflective Env texture on all the metal parts.
    • She has an EyeYellow for Smash Balls and such.
    • She has Metal support as well.
      • That Keyblade she has doesn't replace her gun. Instead, what I did was import the gun's bones only, and then rig the Keyblade directly to her. Makes custom animation easier. (You never know. Just sayin'.)

Though, I'm not to crazy about the texture. Or those shorts that she's wearing.

Despite that, I really think you did a great job with it and I wish you luck in Star's contest  ;)

Post by: Christian_CAO on January 06, 2012, 08:10:47 PM
You're welcome  :)

My thoughts on how it could be better?

Well, I like that you gave her a tomboyish look to sort of emulate a main protagonist Sora feel,
but the shorts don't really fit Snow whites' personality.

Even though, many of the kingdom hearts characters designs have an adventurous design aspect,
remember that Snow White is a princess.

I like the idea of short clothing on her for battle, but the shorts take away from her appeal.

Maybe, while still keeping the short apparel, you could give her stylized bloomers with
a cut off skirt draped only on one side of her waist while allowing a more plain lace skirt
underneath, slightly covering the top of the bloomers.

The Bandanna is nice but it is a bit plain. Maybe you could work on adding
some more subtle detail to that area.

The poison apple Keyblade is a fantastic idea, though if you could make it seem
a bit more elegant by adding little flourishes here and there, similarly to the oathkeeper keyblade,
then that would look even better.

... This is getting difficult to explain so I will make a picture of what I mean.

This is just an example and is just a rough. It is a little over the top and kind of
shies away from the original concept but this is kind of, what I had in mind as far as changes.

If you were to create it… you would probably have to make her over peach instead due to
way to much detail and certain parts of her needing flowing material XD

Anyway, even if this was somewhat hard to follow, I think all your model really needs
is a nice texture and subtle elegant detail and not a full blown custom model over peach XD

As I said before, best wishes in that contest( ^ヮ゜)

Post by: Spex130 on January 06, 2012, 09:23:32 PM
Yup. I know exactly what you mean. This outfit doesn't fit Snow White in the least. Heck, Snow White wouldn't be able to handle a stick, much less a Keyblade. In fact, she probably couldn't pick up the stick altogether. (I mean seriously? Giving each Dwarf a kiss before they go to work? This one needs to let Prince Charming go off to war....)

Most of the time if you thought Keyblade Princess you'd probably think something elegant, right? I see where you're coming from. When I think Kingdom Hearts and elegant, I think something kind of like Aqua (Though Snow White would need much more flourish). I also understand about the Bandana being plain. All the angles I took in the pics fail to show the Zipper and Snowlake she has on top of it.

I can really see that what I did here was "Snow White as Sora." It certainly could have been done better.

I'll certainly keep in mind the character's original personality next time around. I kinda wish I had showed this while it was in production rather than at the end, but oh well....

I'll see if I can put in some of your ideas before the end of the contest. Thanks for the input!

Oh. And that's a really nice picture. Did you draw that?

Okay! Updates!

1: While reseaching some stuff for Xiggah, I found out how to add Wind Waker Cellshading.

2: I used that Cellshading technique to revamp my old Amy Rose hack. There's a tutorial in the Model Tutorials Section!

http://forums.kc-mm.com/Gallery/BrawlView.php?Number=24629

3: I think I figured out why Amalgam 2 was freaking out!  I looked at one of the polygons I was using, and it had over 4500 vertices.

4: I'm going to be redesigning Kingdom Hearts Snow White using more of Christian_CAO's design! It'll be epic! Thanks, Christian!

ooo0o0o0o0o  looking good!

maybe you could draw in some inspiration from the upcoming film Snowhite and the huntsman.

caution big big picture.

not too much tho, since Classic is always better (and its made by universal >.>)  but just maybe little design elements from here n' there.  Like maybe the leather lace front tie up top.

Emerl and Phi look great. it'd be interesting to see them on other characters too, considering absolutely anyone would make sense for them.

Naturally, I would like to see him over Sonic, but some of the others would also be interesting. Good job.

Thanks!

As it turns out, someone's going to be taking the Emerl model and putting over Sonic.

Lucky you, huh?

thats crazy how you got the materials to work like that for Emerl, it fits him.. its a triple A custom model. it looks just like him from sonic battle.. except in 3D

Yeah, thanks!

It's true that they're top-notch custom models, but I wasn't the one who made them. All I did was set up the rig and the cell-shade.

The model was made by this guy named Bagjac. He used to be really famous on Youtube for doing models for BlitzSonic. Anyways, he's a fabulous modeler.

Did you know that for that entire model the only texture he used was this?:

Ay man great job on emerl and phi, and how the guy made the model and textured it is mind blowing  :o
Any way, I was not to impresses with Phi since he was really just a grey Emerl, so I made this

Much more fitting in my opinion, I was wondering if I can get your permission to release it?

So, here we have another Snow White preview.

I kind of hit a block. I know that as of right now, I'm not gonna win.

I WANT to make it better, but I have no more ideas. So, that's where you come in.

Any ideas?

So far, I've re-positioned the shinguards, added a bow to her right arm, a crown to her left, two cross straps in the middle (to which I'll most likely add a backpack to or something), and a retexture of the middle area with Star's suggestion in mind.

YOU.

...

I'm watching this thread. Scout Sonic is epic.

And also wanna say how epic Emerl and Phi are. Good choices of characters :P

YOU. HOLY CRAP. YOU.

I need to thank you. A whole lot, actually.

You reminded me of that hack. Which then reminded me that Scout's texture is 1024x2048.

That reminded me that I shouldn't have images larger than 1024. Which lead me to shrink it to 512x512.

Now, this is the strange part. The LQ version of the 1024x2048 was 30 KB. The HQ Version of the 512x512 was 289 KB. Yet the LQ Large's file was 4128 KB, and the HQ Small's filesize is 1114 KB.

Sonic's max filesize is around 900 KB. This is NOW FEASIBLE again!

Thanks, Seggy!

No. Seriously.

Think of it as, like, a chain of events. The butterfly effect, maybe?

Seriously! I COMPLETELY FORGOT I could do that, and then you walk in and you're all like

"That Sonic looks epic"

And I'm like HOLY CRAP.

You're probably thinking I'm crazy right now, but it's FIXED. The only thing holding it back from release is gone!

( ̄へ ̄)... hmm... ( ̄ー ̄) ...
I'm so, sorry, but I'm fresh out of ideas for Snow White (´・ △ ・`|||)

It looks alright so far, but the skirt area... I don't know what I could suggest to aid in your creative process.

All I can say is that the skirt areas texture isn't very stylized.
It lacks some sort of... something... some kind of design aspect.

No main protagonist in KH has a straight on piece of tactile clothing. There's always... zippers or stripe designs somewhere on their attire...

Any way, the texture is all my eyes are focusing on for some reason.
I'm positive that there are countless ways to enhance the quality of the model, but I just don't have any words that come to mind at the moment...

Well, all I can say is good luck... I hope some one can help you out with improving her. Just sorry, I couldn't be of more help.  :-\

YES. The texture took up 4000 KB. You reminded me of the correct way to shrink it.

Stuff

That's enough, actually! The textures really are very bland aren't they? And no right-minded KH Protagonist has no zippers!

Thank you! I can spice it up a bit more now!

Post by: Spex130 on January 23, 2012, 09:39:07 PM
Yikes. 4 days 'till the beat drops and the tourney's over.

Well, whatevs. Here's another preview:

Two original Keyblades to add to the first, along with some snazzy new kicks.

From left to right, the Keyblades are: Ribbon Demon, Carter's Dream, Poison Apple (At .6 scale in this pic)

It's scary the stuff you have to go through to stay under the file size limit.  :srs:

  • Both Carter's Dream and Poison Apple point to the same texture along with Snow's red straps.
  • All the metal textures come from an about 10-pixel high blue gradient from Snow White's Garter belt.
  • The dress, stockings, arm bow, and both crowns all use the dress's yellow texure.
  • If you look really close right under the crown on Snow's left arm, you'll see a yellow band. The entire color for her left arm-glove comes from that one band. (Which is why it's so off-color, but I'll fix it later.)
  • (Other various things)

It was a lot, but now I'm 200 KB under the filesize limit with only the 7 original textures and three custom. Woot!

Soyeah, bit of not-quite-bad but not-really-good news.

The Adventure_Common.arc file doesn't want to load using the file patch code.

This means that around 90% of all of Primid's appearances will still be Primid instead of Silver Sonic.

If anyone can figure out how to get that to work, make sure to tell me!

Well, it was either Semi-Transparent or Follows the screen, because I tried both at the same time for a while and it didn't work out. I personally think Follows the Screen is cooler but eh, that's just me. Thanks for downloading it though. It makes me happy!

Glad you did! I've never played it.

Yeah, DSX8 gave me the model and said "Put it over a character." So I did. I might have to check out the game later though.

I noticed that some of his texture on his coat or whatever he is wearing is glitchy, but that's ok, doesn't effect gameplay at all, unless u zoom in and take picture, lol.

and it's a good game to get into.

Oh, thanks for the edit! I've never been good at stuff like that.

Also, about the model...

Well, I used Samus's shader & materials, but that turned everything invisible. 100%. Then I noticed that the parts I hadn't set to that shader the were different. Then I noticed that the spec-maps that came with the model were slightly off as well.

So, all in all, I made the Spec-Maps look like Samus's and set them to a different shader. It did show up in game, but it wasn't really noticeable. After that I modified the specular to be more visible. And boom. Done.

Pretty much, the Specular doesn't show up all that well unless you pause, but it's there.

(Then again, it could just be me. What's the correct way to add a specular like that anyway?)

Bahahaha! You guys make me laugh!

I was probably the only person who thought it was cool on the face of the planet. Which is why nobody payed to play the game when it came out. It's free now though lol.

I always used to practice drawing CN cartoons in a style kind of like that, so when I saw it I was like .

And now I have the models. Yay!

Your not alone Spex130, It was a change in their art style and Cartoon Networks attempt to make them look anime-esque and older, trying to age them with the generation that grew up with these cartoons.

They could of used the style they used for their Cartoon Network Punch Time Explosion game but tried their best to get both age demographics with an grown up appearance.

Its a shame that they don't advertise it anymore, and it almost happens with all MMO's where they beta test it for free, then have you pay to play, then make it free for everyone.

Edit: I sent a PM to the person who uploaded the models, hopefully he/she was the one who did it, and hopefully understands English since I don't understand Chinese.

EDIT:

Also, you guys.

I'm gonna start taking time to finish up all the junk I promised people. Because I hate starting new stuff with debts to pay. This Gemerl was based on a texture DGPThirteen made and gave to me. I didn't use it, but he made it like, last year, and I held him up on it ever since. So yeah. Clearing out the request/help offered section.

He's my little pet project. He's being worked on, mostly because it's fixing ported animations, but I'm going to do some minor PSAing so he doesn't use his head like Yoshi so much.

An animation PSA that doesn't really change the moveset.

Well, I was thinking a pilot style suit, a lot like you're thinking of. Pants, Jacket, Goggles, a Scarf as his tails.. But I can't think of a way to incorporate his Scarf on a current character. Or any other way to include his tails.

...Actually, maybe I could put it on Zelda and use the dress to rig the tails. I dunno.

Do you have ideas?

well you could use a character like ike, Captain Falcon, snake, anybody that has bones that react to the physics engine and just edit the boneset to where you want the scarf to be for it to be animated.

As always, you sir are a genius.

So.

If I rename the bones (in say, Snake's headband), do they still react to the physics engine? That would make things very easy.

Title: Re: Spex130's Roadside Model Shack: Sonic the Human!
Post by: DemonBoy on May 16, 2012, 11:13:40 PM
I don't think it would. I think you would have to keep the bone names the same. You could perhaps rename snakes headband bones to something different and create new bones with those names.

In that case, I'll just need to null out the old bones and make new named bones at the end of the skeleton, since you can add extra bones to a skeleton without any freezing. The annoying part is having them connect to the waist or something without messing up the hierarchy and throwing off all the bonerefs.

bonerefs...if you mess with those you can translate stuff like beyond did with Pacman, right?

That would be it. A bit tricky but could turn out good if done right. I'm currently messing with this to give Toro an animated headband.

Though there's one thing bugging me... That's VERY clearly Ashley from Trace Memory. You should have done a bit more to her face, hair, and pants texture.

That is wicked awesome Spex!  It kind of reminds me of those pokemon trainers that dresses up like pikachu's and battles only with pikachus, or slowpokes.  Are you planing on making more things like this?

Yeah, I know I probably should have edited Ashley's stuff, but she pretty much lined up with what I wanted. It's still probably gonna make people freak out when they see Ashley in a Zubat Hoodie, lol!

If only my friends didn't love Goku so much, I'd totally return Pit for this mofo. Please do more of these. Here are some ideas:

In all honesty, I want to start all of them right now. THIS VERY MOMENT.

But I gotta finish some stuff I promised. There are, like, 4 hacks in front of this project. So Haseyo, make sure to come and periodically pester me so I'll remember them when I'm done.

Well, it wasn't pointed out to me that the "size" was unnatural until later. I'm not a girl, lol, I don't know how it's supposed to look. Just know that "enhanced" wasn't my intention.

On that note, if I do anything about it, massive blaring model errors will pop up, and those will take another week or two to fix. So, it'll probably stay like that.

Thanks though, I'll try to get it done as soon as possible so ya'll can have a run at it!

So, been pretty much MIA for the last few weeks/months/etc, so I decided I'd drop off previews of all the things I never bothered to show anyone, hehe.

LASS (Light Armor Suit Samus) [Original]

Hero's Charm Link [LoZ:WW]

Tumble [Mario Party 3]/[Partial Custom Model]

Guard Armor over Petey Piranha [Kingdom Hearts]

Plus some other old stuff I finished/worked on. An SSE Amalgam, some Human Pokemon, a couple of PSAs, a few SSE Enemy Replacements....

Stuff like that.

I'm aiming for Kumatora to be my 50th hack, so this stuff will probably come out after her.

this:

and this:

All of them are made up of enemies from 1-Player Mode. Hence: Subspace Emissary Amalgam. They're really fun to make, actually!

Wahay, everybody! It's been what, 2 months since I last posted in here? Anyways, I'm letting up on my "Kumatora's my 50th hack" thing because I'm backed up on finished stuff that seriously could be released.

But that's a different story.

The story now is this: Silver Sonic imported over Primid in the SSE. It was actually one of my first hacks, but I'm pulling it back out now to finish it and stuff.

The main points are the Eyes, which are shader-nulled, and the sheen, which is Samus's. I'm not sure if it looks good, though.

Tell me your thoughts on it.

Yeah, the shine isn't the best. I recommend using the one from the newest Metal Sonic.

However, the rest looks nice. ;D

Yeah, no.

Mecha Sonic has a lot more details added on to him and looks vastly different from Silver Sonic in design since he's the upgraded model from him.

Well, when this was posted I was totally gonna correct you, but my fellow knowledgeable Sonic buddies corrected you for me. Crisis averted, haha!

Anyways, I think I found a nice balance. It's not too unbelievably shiny, but acceptably shiny instead.

Thoughts?

SUPER DUPER EDIT:

Also, I never showed this to anybody and its not done yet, but I made this kinda just for fun:

Which is kinda supposed to be this:

The Naga, from Chrono Trigger. Four Fingers and all.

Think I should do something Brawl-Related with it?

Oh. And on another note, Texturing is really hard. Tip your texturers, they do a lot.

Well, I have two options, here. I could either retexture it myself, or find the original textures for the FM version online. I haven't found them yet, so I might just need to get an emulator and rip the textures myself.

Original textures are best, either way is fine. Oh and don't forget the Powered Armor (Days). It should be a simple texture to do. :P

So. I was looking around in my incredibly massive archive of 3D Models, and I found a certain 3D model.

Silver Sonic, the one that I just did over Primid.

Now, the reason this is so important is that the first one I found had come with the textures, but not with the textures applied.

Which means I applied them myself. About a year ago. When I had learned to UV textures maybe that day. Yikes.

So I found this one, and not only did it have around 20 more textures than the one I rigged, it came with them applied.

Re-do? Why yes, I think I shall.

Well, I dunno. I've always preferred floaty parts for some reason as opposed to actual rods or legs. That's just me, though. Anyways, thanks for the praise! It means much to me!

I might give Neo a shot if I can find it.

Well, I thought you had it, so it wouldn't be good to make changes while you had it. Nothing has changed since I sent it to you, I think. But if you lost it, I suppose I should start doing things to it again.

Maybe we could ask Pik for help! He's way better at custom modeling than I am!

Anyways, there's a few small things I need to finish before our pink-haired princess can be back on top. They honestly won't take that long.

And you said you needed a preview? I think it might've changed a little from the last picture I took. Want me to go  make one?

Two hacks on Ness. A longsleeve version of his normal suit, and a suited version of his longsleeve self, haha.

One hack on Mario. Tumble, the announcer from Mario Party 3.

It's great indeed  ! I'm unfortunatly not good enough at modeling (i already try making a Sally Model on blender, it didn't look as awful as i though took way too long for the result, it's not easy at all and really time consuming even more when you're a total nood LOL)!

Haha, well that was more Anivernage's idea. I just added some special effects to it. Funny thing is, we pretty much took the dumbest hack we could think of and poured as much quality into it as possible, lol!

It'll be done after I finish all the things I promised people, haha.

I'm hoping it will be!

Although, I'm actually making this PSA so I have an excuse to rig more short people with swords. Toon Link's hips are death when it comes to keeping the shape of stuff like this.

I have a lot of the other SATBK models, so I'm planning to rig them to this (Shadow included). I don't want the Shadow pin though. So it will be in a way that won't get me that pin.  :srs:

looks kinda odd, the neck and torso...

also, the idea is epic as [censored], yet it seems kinda... amateurish...
i know u can do better after seeing that ness, the model looks kinda sloppy, the shoulders are the worst thing about this mod IMO, they bend kinda weird, and the black thing looks odd...

dont take me wrong, i actually like the mod, but not enough to download :oshi:

Well, after reading this I went and checked the shoulders. I want to make them better since there's an unhappy customer, lol, but I can't. If I change any of the rig or move any vertices it'll only look worse. The texture at that spot is kinda funny, so that might help too.

I know this'd be asking a bit much, but if you wanna take a look yourself you'll see what I mean.

I do see what you mean about the neck though. I'll definitely change it so the upper armor will bend a bit and update the rig later.

Thanks!

Well now, hearing this makes my task even. I shall continue hammering away!

The deed is done. I'll let Spex choose whether or not to show folks just what it is though.

LASS is awesome either way.

So hey ya'll. Been working on my rig for LASS the past few days. Pretty much, Sheik was a bad idea, haha. Sheik is very fluid and flexible. Metal armor is....not lol.

I've got it to a point where it will only look bad when Sheik hits one of her unrealistic flexibilty moves. She's got a few, but it's unavoidable. Extensive testing went into this one, so now I'm going to give it to you guys so you can break it again, lol.

On that note, if you don't like one of my rigs please tell me so I can fix it. I don't actually get to play Brawl all that much, so the probability that I'll actually take a second look after I release is pretty slim.

I'll update the rig after I add the obscene amount of materials again. So soon, lol.

Have I ever told you Shun is good at texturing? Because Shun is good at texturing.

I have absolutely no idea why he wouldn't show ya'll his amazing work, but if he won't I won't. You'll love it though, I promise!

'Kay. I updated the rig. It's on the vault and stuff. Please tell me if anything else is broke, haha.

And now that that's over, Shun's thing can go up too! Light Armor Suit Samus is such a long name, so Silver Light Armor Samus seemed right. I dunno though.

Shun! Come and name this thing!

Huzzah! It's out! Fantastic work on the neck edits, Specks.

Hm...You're right. The name is super long. Um...Someone else! Name this thing!

*muttering* Probably should've edited the under arm thing a bit more...

Hmm ... this grey version of light armored samus sort of remind me of Robocop, which is pretty Badass when you think about it.

Well, since this thread is generally floating about the top of the pool...

So, this one time a tornado happened and I had to stay at a friend's house. This hack is the result of that stay. He's an excellent designer, and I can model, so we both had a blast.

It was supposed to be called SteamPunk Robo, but I misspelled it as I was typing it to "Punk Rono."

And it stuck.

And I just finished texturing it enough to show off.

The right hand is a claw! I'll show how it'll work when I finish the texturing!

Also, gonna have to do something about that OP. Hrrm.

Haha! Hi! I have stuff to show, but it's not really fitting to place it in the WIP thread so the location of showing is HERE:

Wii Fit Trainer's looking good. Gave her her Cell-Shading, but it might be a bit light. Thoughts?

You forget something on WFT.
The logo of Wii Fit on his shirt, the UV is weird.

I didn't forget it, I thought it looked cool.

Speaking of UVs, I need to bother BJ about these models. The ones from Wii Fit Plus exported with UVs that were somewhat trashed. I fixed the parts I didn't like.

That could be fixed by changing the material properties to "Clamp", since that's how it was on the original model.

Oh man. So that's how it works? What exactly does "Clamp" do? Does it simply not allow wrapping of textures?

The UVs of the Body for WFT+ wrapped back around from the top, so the stomach appeared fragmented and multicolored. Even though I "fixed" it, it was still a rather ghetto workaround.

That would also make sense that it doesn't allow wrapping in the cases of the chest logo. KTH, if you want that fixed go ahead and set that material to "clamp" like RTB said.

Wow! Things make sense now! Thanks RTB.
