What are you using AiS for?

If you're using it to get bones for your imports, don't. They don't work.

The most you can use AiS for is Vertexing, because that's what it was made for. Importing and Vertexing both have different advantages and disadvantages though

Just extract the .DAE from the MDL0 using BrawlBox .65...

jokekid told me to export the .dae with Ais for 3DS Max 8 because if I did with BB it looked weird.I can't seem to export/import them well...

Shouldn't Ais be included in the resources section? It0s very difficult so I think it should be here so it's easier to find...

Hmm. I wonder what version of BB Jokekid is using? The older ones don't export DAEs as well.

Also, the OpenCollada DAE importer for 8 doesn't work as well, from my experience.
Max 2010-2011 is the best for importing.

Lastly, no one actually ever expected to need to use AiS after Model Importing came out, which is why it's so hard to find. If you really want it in the resources section, you could take it up with one of the mods.

Well,I have 3DS Max 2010 as well,it's the one I was gonna use,but then jokekid told me to use 8 to import .dae's and export them as .max files.I'm using FBX plugin for importing. If I export with BrawlBox it ends up as a bone cross, could I fix is in any way? That happens in 2010

I used to use 8 and 2010 at the same time like Jokekid, but I never got it to work perfect. I eventually just used 2010 by itself.

I'm pretty sure that the 2011 DAE plugin is the most compatible to import DAEs. You can use the 2011 plugin with 2010 Max.

Also, using the most up to date BB to export would work.

But how can I install 2011 plugin on 2010? It'll sure say it can't find anything in
Programs (x86)\Autodesk\3DS Max 2011 or something like that...

Title: Re: Where to download Ais 0.1.1 model editor?

No. You can.

See, Max 8 and Max 9 are radically different from Max 2010 and 2011. They changed the plugin format between them.

Max 8 can't use 2010 plugins. That's the error I got when I tried to do that.

However, since people aren't going to drop a wad of cash to get 2011 when they have 2010, Max 2010 allows for upgrades (or downgrades, to a point) of their plugins.

All that, and I installed the 2011 plugin in my 2010 Max, so it works.

How then? Changing routes didn't work, and it throws an error in Spanish (Given my computer is in Spanish) and it doesn't recognize .dae files anymore.

I changed in program folder to C:\Programs(x86)\Autodesk\3DS Max 2010\

And the plugin destination to C:\Programs(x86)\Autodesk\FBX\FBXPlugins\2012.2\3DS Max 2010\

With the Browse button. It gives me the route of the .dlu plugin in the roor box and says "failed to initialize"

It's been a while since I installed it. Hm.

Anyways, you'll want the 2011 plugin. I've heard around that 2012, also has some problems, but that's just me thinking that. I might be wrong there. All I know is that 2011 works perfect.

So this error happened while you were installing or after?

Title: Re: Where to download Ais 0.1.1 model editor?
Post by: Spex130 on January 16, 2012, 09:22:30 AM
Hmm. Is your computer 32-bit or 64-bit? That makes a difference, too.

Title: Re: Where to download Ais 0.1.1 model editor?
Post by: DannyDirnt on January 16, 2012, 09:25:04 AM
It's 64 bits,but I have 32 bits Max 2010

Title: Re: Where to download Ais 0.1.1 model editor?
Post by: Spex130 on January 16, 2012, 09:25:58 AM
And it works?

There should be a 64-bit plugin. Try that one.

Error again, this time it says error code 193 too

Post by: Spex130 on January 16, 2012, 09:42:49 AM
Huh. This is the strangest thing I've heard of. Anyways, I suppose that this error's the result of using the 64-bit plugin for the 32-bit MAX.

Well, that's the length of my expertise. Too much is different about our computers for me to help you any further.....

Can you still use the plugin your Max 2010 came with? If it's possible, try to uninstall back to that.

Hm.

I guess it honestly would be easier to go about it the way you were.

Here's AiS: http://cid-c59ea3c98a300f31.skydrive.live.com/self.aspx/.Public/Programs/ais0.1.3.zip

(And I think you'll need this to get the AiS DAEs into Max 8: http://sourceforge.net/projects/colladamaya/files/COLLADAMax%201.4.1%20plug-ins/ColladaMax_FREE_3.05C.exe/ColladaMax_FREE_3.05C.exe/download)

Use that to get the Polygons in 8, and then go get the Bones in a 2010 .MAX from the Model Bones Resource thread.

I'm pretty sure that's the method Jokekid uses anyway.

I didn't have any problems installing. Not in the least.

My computer's in English though.
