I plan on revamping my Melee FD with the actual backgrounds from Melee. But since I don't have access to the image files, I'll have to do it from scratch. But that's another project for another time.


Also, that Smashville texture is almost done. I'm just working on the towns people.

That reminds me. ATM I've gave up on texturing the townspeople.

I need to learn how they work a little better. I got parts to work a few times, but just little bits and pieces. But I do intend to look into it a bit more.

Right not, my brain's racked enough figuring out Battlefield's lighting effects. (I want a certain glow on characters)

I don't think you can edit lighting effects with Brawlbox yet.

I've tried editing a few values, but they don't allow me to change them.

I'll try to make the final version available to everyone when I get back from my family reunion.

I'm straying away from FoD for a bit. (I'll get it done soon though)

After making Melee FD, I've been revamping a few of my old textures.
Paper Yoshi's Island
Milky Way Knightmare
Rob O' the Hedge

They are all going to receive updates and revamps.

I've also been trying my hand at importing textures from other games. So far I have:
Sonic the Hedgehog (Sonic Unleashed)
Sonic the Werehog (Sonic Unleashed)
Lucario (Pokemon Battle Revolution)

I don't think you understand the kind of hell that texture has put me through.

I removed a lot of the enkei's polygons from the model.

Sometimes the stage works just fine.
Sometimes it freezes.
Sometimes the camera goes %^YHGFRES%$&*IOIUWH*W&YUIHKMLWO*&.

I'm about to just say "Project Closed" and just release it without finishing it. (It will look ugly)

I'll fix it IN DUE TIME. <___< [/rant]

Okay, so I've been playing around on Brawl and I noticed that Spear Pillar has the PERFECT background AND lighting for Fountain of Dreams.

I've seen people trade models on stages before, so I'm really hoping this is possible.

If you think you can move the background (lighting as well if possible) onto Battlefield, I'll send you the unfinished Fountain of Dreams texture to use as a base.

I'll be trying my hand at this as well.

edit: for some reason there's an outline of Kirby's eyes on Ditto. It's not noticeable during game play, but it's just weird that I can't seem to get rid of it.

Grovyle and Umbreon look great! Ditto is pretty cool too. I've always wanted to make Umbreon (I even requested it to ]EE[ before they stopped accepting requests) but was too lazy. ;P

well i just added the SSBM "Trophy" song instead which fits perfectly. thanks a lot tho

@ Katakiri: the umbreon is ultra sexy to the point where i have to take one of my pikachu's texture out just to put this one in :'(

Its a shame we cant add goggles to the headband pikachu, otherwise I would have used the shiny blue one AND had him wear goggles. If you add these textures to the goggles pikachu, you lose the forehead ring, because the ring is done on the headband.

Yea, unfortunately, using the headband was the only way to get an accurate Umbreon. Any texture on Pikachu's head repeats on the back of his head as well. (That's also why my Hoenn Pikachu has some yellow on the back of his head. If I went any further I would have made his forehead white as well)


On another note, I decided that I'll keep a sort of log on the first page as well as posting it like this. It will basically tell you what I'm working on and when to expect it.

Project Log:

- I should be finishing my updates to Paper Yoshi's Island and Milky Way Knightmare soon. Probably by the end of the week.

- I'm actually going to make a version 2 of Dream Land even though I said I wasn't. I might just make one from scratch since it was my very first stage texture. It might end up looking more like Green Greens.

- While I'm on the subject, I'm making Meta Knight's best stage look like....well...a Kirby stage. (If you play Brawl competitively at all you should know what stage it will be) I'll stop making Kirby stages after that since I feel like I'm over-representing Kirby now.

- I'm working on putting Pokemon Stadium 2's background and main platform on Pokemon Stadium Melee. The problem is that PS2's stage is just a little bigger than PS1's so that causes some...I guess you can call it graphical errors. If anyone know how to resize models, please please PLEASE PM me!

- I might make a Metal Gear stage after all that's done. I'm not gonna promise it because I'm not all that interested in the series. But IF I do decide to make it, it will probably be my most detailed texture to date. The only reason I'm considering it is because the series is so under represented as far as stage textures go.

i am so lookin forward to Milky Way Nightmare v2. hopefully u fix the brown lookin sea cause thats all that i would change on that stage, everythin else looks great.

also, i agree with u about the Metal Gear attention, doesnt get much at all. i have never played a MG game, but looks interesting n i would love to see a good texture for that stage.

I've been enjoying the Fountain of Dreams texture.  Although I was wondering, did you ever think to try out The Summit's background instead of Spear Pillar?  It has the auroras going on in the sky to provide some dynamics like the original stage.  Although that purple base is indeed really good to imitate the base of Fountain of Dreams' Melee background as well.

A mix of both of them would be the best D:

Also, I like the Melee Final Destination as well, my only complain being that one of the background transitions is a tad bright and makes it hard to see for a little while.  Everything else is great, though.  Really captures the old atmosphere.

I made this a while ago. Since I didn't get a chance to work on Yoshi's Island or Halberd this weekend, I felt I owed you guys something at least. Consider this a filler update I guess.

No the red, green, and gold costumes are just color changes to fix Brawl. They all use the same texture base though.

Since I know some people think they deserve an explanation (which they don't) as to why I haven't been posting "the goods," I'll drop a little knowledge on you.

My textures have no set time line, meaning if I have a bunch of projects going at the same time, (like I do right now) things are gonna be slowing down. Deal.

I only work on projects that interest me. Meaning if you ask me to make a texture, I probably won't make it. If you suggest an idea that you think I'd be interested in, depending on my schedule, I may of may not do it.

If you constantly bug me to finish a texture, I more than likely will never finish or release it. (A few people want my MW Knightmare v2 done, which is why it's in limbo as of now.)


I may seem like I'm being an a-hole right now, but I'm actually pretty easy going. I just like to work at my own pace with out being pestered.



On another note, 2 previews of new stages have been added to the project log.
The first is Yoshi's Story (Melee), the second is Diamond City Stadium (Taken over by Wario of course).

Katakiri, I love your stages. You keep giving me a harder time when I try to decide on which Battlefield texture to use. Dreamland 64, Fountain of Dreams, and Yoshi's Story are awesome.

We can already do that using PSA. Besides, he only talks when he switches pokemon.

Now, get him to talk through the Triple Finish text box and I'll be impressed.


Imagine if KSSU came out before Brawl. MK only talks because he's had full dialogue in KSS. Dedede would be talking too. @_@

no, hell no. why would they have the same exact pokemons just different evolutions/prevolutions? that makes no sense to me. if they do add another pokemon trainer its gonna be different pokemons, such as chikorita, totodile, cindaquill (sorry bout the spelling of their names) or maybe even a magma or aqua grunt, who knows.

Well, I just finished the model this morning. I'm going to take a break from it today and actually play brawl.

All that I need to do now is to finish the texture and maybe touch-up the model a bit. She'll be done by tomorrow night.

Now, people have been asking about the pokemon themselves. If you're willing to wait about a week longer for Blue/Leaf, (I call her Blue) I might be able to give her a Wartortle and Bulbasaur. But, that's completely dependent on how patient you can all be and how well I can edit Squirtle's head.

Nope, I would just be minorly changing their appearance. Giving Squirtle ears and fangs, changing the size, shape, and placement of Ivysaur's bulb.

Yea, since Cloud was released today, I might as well move the release back a week and just make the pokemon too. I'll make it worth the wait though.



Blue's model is complete finished now! I'm pretty happy with it, but I'm gonna label it as "beta" for now.
There are some issues that I'll list that I can't seem to work around at the moment.
 - Cannot edit shirt sleeves (they have no editable points)
 - Legs poke out through the skirt in idle stance (minimized but still visible)
 - Cannot connect the back of the skirt fully
 - Cannot edit the neck atm unless someone volunteers to do it for me. (Just need exactly 4 points changed)
I hope to fix these problems once the BrawlBox vertices editor is done. Actually being able the SEE what I'm editing is gonna be a big help. ;P


I'm going to move on to Bulbasaur next, then Wartortle. Another busy week for me. xP

Well, Charizard can't really go back to his previous forms while still having the same attacks. A lot of his attacks use his wings and long neck, so I'm just going to keep him the same.

Bulbasaur and Wartortle have all the same features as Ivysaur and Squirtle and they're actually the right size. (Squirtle is WAAAAY too big in Brawl)
The only attack that would look odd at all is Ivysaur's F-Tilt where she spins her leaves. We can just call it Whirlwind when Bulbasaur uses it. xP (lol pokemon anime. "Finish it off with False Swipe!")

Well, looks like Bulbasaur's not gonna happen unless someone else can do it.

Apparently there's a VERY limited area I can move the bulb before it crunches the model regardless of how big it is.

Bulbasaur's not going to happen unless someone can do it for me.

Wartortle is going to have Fangs, Ears, and an Edited Tail along with a texture. Like I said already, there's no need for new moves since I'm not changing anything major about how he attacks.

If you have issues resizing Ivy's bulb, try to remove it and use the bud underneath. There's a pre-hexed .pac file in that on thread that shows a few pictures, and I think it might work.

Ah. I see. That's rather interesting. Try moving the vertices away from the bulb, and see if it still crunches.

Actually, that picture is the result of what happens when I moved the vertices outward. I can barely move it at all without it crunching.

I haven't had much time to work on Wartortle at all, but considering the fact that his entire head is one big Face polygon, I think I might run into some problems with him as well unfortunately.

I'm only going to say this once.

The character is completely based off how she looks in FR/LG and Pokemon Special. Not sure if any of you have noticed, but humans in pokemon have big legs. It's not meant to look realistic, it's meant to look how she does in official artwork. DEAL WITH IT!

It's not just you, Wave. A LOT of people have been hassling me about this.

Like I said, it wasn't necessarily directed at you. It was directed at the 10+ people that have been hassling me about this since the very first pictures weeks ago.

I could edit them to my heart's content, but I decided to go with accuracy rather than opinion.

On another related note, I have every intention to release the BETA version of Blue/Green/Leaf/****itI'mjustgonnacallherBlue tomorrow afternoon.

The reason it's beta is because there are some obvious flaws I don't have the means to fix at the moment. (All of which I listed in an earlier post) I have minimized the flaws and, for the time being, I will leave them there because Blue is a background character, you will never notice the problems during game play unless you zoom in on her.

When she's released, you're all free to make textures for her and whatnot as long as you credit me for the model. (I'm only one person so this took a long time.)

After that, the thread should go back to the norm.

Anyways Katakiri, alrighty. As long as I'm not the one getting chewed out unnecessarily. Sorry then.

I personally think that despite everything, it looks fine as it. The point of textures and stuff has always been to look good from a distance. This is Smash after all. It's not a fighting game with "EXTREME CLOSE UP!!" cameras or anything, nor is there any reason to look up that close other than for pics in the first place.

However, perfectionists will be perfectionists and whiners will be whiners. XD

I could care less, as I just want her regardless. She's quite awesome. :3

Blue's been added to the first post and the log is updated with goodies.

So I'm finally getting back into the swing of things. I've been taking a break from Brawl and playing Kirby Air Ride the past few days. Still the best multiplayer game Nintendo has to offer. I'll be replicating textures from it since I can't rip them as you can see from the picture in the first post. That means Air Ride stages for Brawl! Yeeeaaaaa!......among other things.

MK's mask isn't exactly giving me much to work with as far as the horns go, but I'm still playing around with them.

If you are up for it, you should make a psa moveset for this too. Although, wait until you are done with this first . :P Im aware that there is a Galacta Knight moveset out there already, but it doesnt quite fit well with his actual moveset (being it doesnt look enough like his attacks in Super Star Ultra)

Thanks. I do kind want him to have a shield, but not enough that I'd learn to use PSA.

Wartortle is pretty much in the "clean-up" stages right now. It's just a matter of fixing up the texture.

...One more thing, was it okay to make an edit of your Leaf model hack?

Sure, if it's just a texture. But you're probably going to want to wait until she's totally finished if you want mess with her model. I have every intention of at least trying to finish her this weekend.

But like I said, any texture that gets made on her beta model will look perfect on the finished one since it's only a few minor adjustments and tune-ups. (Mainly her face and neck)

It's an inside joke. If you don't get it, I can't help you.

Anyway, I just put Machine Passage on the first post. I know I've been focusing on vertices editing a lot late so I'll release this early.

The next stage set for launch is City Trial from Kirby Air Ride. It will have 100% custom textures. I'm also trying some perspective ideas like creating the illusion of the underground tunnels.

LOL, people keep using my old textures for vertex hacks.


Actually I'm only using it as a base, no offense, but I'm pretty much going to do an overhaul on it since a lot of details were wrong (shell patterns), part of his cheek spots are missing, and the eyes were poorly done (me no likey white lines). Not to mention that I've added ears, claws (not shown yet), and real fangs. Then I'll detail all of that and it should be good to go.

Well since Bulbasaur was a bust, there's only one other pokemon I'm going to try to turn Ivysaur into. That Pokemon is Nidorina.
It's gonna look a little awkward without a PSA moveset since Nidorina doesn't have vines or leaves. But, if the rest of Ivysaur's model doesn't flip **** on me, it's going to look perfect

And since I'm already gonna mess up the natural order, lets throw in a Charizard model too. How about Dragonite?

I'm not gonna promise anything though since I have no idea if Ivysaur's or Charizard's vertices will work right. (I can't even edit Squirtle's tail atm)

But if all goes well, we should have:

He's going to have a cape for the moment. I have a few ideas I'm gonna try based on Galacta Knight's sprite animations. But, if it doesn't work out, I'll stick with a normal cape.

Hey Kata, I tried using your Machine Passage stage for Halberd last night and it made my game freeze. I tried several times too, and it froze every time. Any reason for this? And is there a way I can fix it?

Long Answer: I'm taking a break from the hacking scene for now. I'm on that "last minute school rush" so I don't have a whole lot of time/motivation to work on anything for Brawl. The last time I even touched BrawlBox was a week ago. (Also why none of my stuff is on BrawlVault)

Like I've said before, my projects have no time line. But since you asked, Blue is finished (duh) and Wartortle is as finished as I can make him. I've played around with Ivysaur's body, and Nidorina shouldn't be too big of a problem. Haven't tried anything to Charizard yet.

But, again, I am on hiatus for now. The next thing you guys should expect from me is Galacta Knight (finished btw), City Trial, and Wario Stadium. The most I can offer right now is a VERY beta pic of City Trial:

however, i would ask that you post each of the pokes as you finish (or pics at the very least). i'm looking forward to the nidorina as i've been needing a blue ivy for a while, and warturtle sounds really cool, too.

Well, thanks to Riivolution screwing up my wii, I can no longer use codes on it. I get a stack dump error for gecko and "please insert SSBB disc" screen for riivolution's ocarina.

That basically means until I find out the problem or someone helps me fix it, I'm back on hiatus.

For your Leaf vertex hack, did you use Dasdonkey vertex box for Pokemon Trainer's cap/hair, or did you vertex hack it using the original hexing way?

Just wondering, since DD vertex box gives me an error for his hat/hair.

Yea, mine's been done for months. I didn't want to release it yet, but I figured I needed to release something at least to end the drought.

But I just finished high school so I've got all kinds of time on my hands now. I'm actually working on Toon Link's set right now. (Which includes every character and stage in the game)

I just need to fix a few things if it's possible. It was possible.


@DocStrange - It's impossible to add a notch in the tail. I can't edit the flat parts of Pika's tail; only the corners that make the lightning bolt shape.


Edit: Just finish Chuchu's tiara alt costume (Ice Queen Chuchu.) Yes. I put a tiara on a Pikachu.
What? You weren't expecting a set? Too bad! Waluigi Time!
Red and green costumes are next (and I know just what to do for red.)

Hey, K!t, I did a re-vamp of your "Out Of The Woods" Stage (There's Webbers and Lumps on the polls, The Stars in the ground are replaced by clods of dirt, and The Tree now shakes down Dead Spearheads instead of Apples). I even improved the tree's eyes to make it look more creepy (like it was in the game...)

If it's OK with you, could I release it to the public? I promise to give you full credit!
